TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a non-aqueous pigment ink for inkjet.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The ink jet recording system records characters and images by flying micro droplets of ink and attaching them to media such as paper. However, since it is plateless printing / non-contact printing, color printing is not possible. Because of its advantages such as simplicity and low noise, it has rapidly spread in various applications particularly as a color image output device.
[0003]
Conventionally, the ink used in such an ink jet recording system has been mainly an aqueous ink, that is, a dye or a pigment dispersed in water or a mixed solvent of water and a hydrophilic solvent. In particular, in recent years, inks using a pigment as a coloring material (water-based pigment inks) tend to increase due to their excellent light resistance and water resistance required for high-quality printing.
[0004]
With the high performance and high speed of inkjet heads, inkjet inks have been required to have a high degree of quick drying, but conventional water-based inks have a low drying speed and sufficiently satisfy this requirement. I can't. Proposals have also been made to increase the speed of the inkjet system by drying with a drying device after printing with a water-based ink, but this not only causes an increase in cost but also in a situation where color materials immediately after printing can move. In this case, forced drying cannot be a fundamental measure for speeding up since the image is disturbed. Further, when water-based ink is used, clogging of the nozzle is likely to occur, so that it is necessary to frequently clean the nozzle, which is an obstacle to speeding up.
[0005]
In addition, in order to perform high-quality printing with conventional inks, it is required to use a special medium having an ink receiving layer formed on the surface, and plain paper having no ink receiving layer is used as a medium for ink jet printing. Had been disqualified. This is because the water-based ink uses water, which paper fibers dislike most, as a solvent, so when it is printed on plain paper, the paper fibers expand and contract, and deformation such as curling may occur after printing due to a phenomenon called cockling. This is because the printing portion may be rubbed during transportation, causing a fatal printing failure. Various researches and developments have been made on paper papermaking technology and image processing technology for a measure for plain paper on the premise of using water-based ink, but no satisfactory solution has yet been found. Therefore, development of ink-jet inks capable of high-quality printing on plain paper regardless of the medium has been desired.
[0006]
In addition to aqueous inks, non-aqueous inks that do not use water as an ink solvent have also attracted attention, and the mainstream is so-called oil-based inks containing an organic solvent as a main component. Oil-based inks have better drying properties than water-based inks, and are considered to be superior in printability when plain paper is used as a medium. However, oil-based inks have low compatibility with polymer materials, and therefore, are not suitable for PP materials. The problem of deforming a clear file or the like occurs. Further, the thermosensitive recording paper comprising a leuco dye and a developer is susceptible to oil, and there is a problem that when stored with an oil-based ink print, characters disappear over time. Furthermore, many oil-based inks swell the resin component of the electrophotographic toner, causing problems such as set-off.
[0007]
In view of such problems, even non-aqueous inks using a silicone-based solvent without using an organic solvent (hereinafter referred to as “silicone-based solvent ink”) have been proposed (Patent Documents 1 to 3 below). . These silicone-based solvent inks are said to be able to solve the problems of the oil-based inks described above.
[0008]
[Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 04-161467 [Patent Document 2] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 04-248879 [Patent Document 3] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2001-342388
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, it is very difficult for a silicone solvent to disperse the pigment in a stable state. In view of this point, in Patent Document 1, ink formation was achieved by using a modified silicone oil having a siloxane bond in the molecular skeleton as a solvent, and in Patent Document 2, in addition to the silicone solvent, hydrocarbons and alcohols were used. It has been proposed to improve the stability by using an organic solvent in combination. However, since the ink obtained in this manner has properties approaching those of the oil-based ink, the above-described oil-based ink such as deforming a clear file is used. However, there is a problem that the viscosity of the solvent is high and the degree of freedom in designing the ink (for example, the degree of freedom such as increasing the mixing ratio of the pigment) is reduced. Further, in Patent Document 3, a silicone-based graft polymer is used as a dispersant. However, the molecular weight of each of the silicone-based graft polymers used in Examples is about 10,000 and is extremely high, and particularly, Since the graft portion was large, the viscosity was increased, and the degree of freedom in ink design was extremely narrow.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present inventors have conducted intensive studies on a method for improving the above-described problems of the conventional technology, and as a result, have found that the use of a silicone-based solvent ink solves all the problems of conventional water-based inks and oil-based inks. It is an object of the present invention to achieve this object by using a specific modified silicone oil as a dispersant, and to easily produce a stable silicone solvent ink having a high pigment concentration and a low viscosity.
[0011]
That is, the present invention provides a silicone-based solvent and a pigment, and further comprises one or more modified silicones selected from the group consisting of amino-modified silicone oils, epoxy-modified silicone oils, carboxyl-modified silicone oils, and fatty acid-modified silicone oils as dispersants. [0024]
The non-aqueous pigment ink for inkjet of the present invention uses one or more modified silicone oils selected from the group consisting of amino-modified silicone oil, epoxy-modified silicone oil, carboxyl-modified silicone oil and fatty acid-modified silicone oil as a dispersant. The main feature is that these specific modified silicone oils can stably disperse the pigment. The reason for this has not been fully elucidated, but the superior adsorptivity of amino-modified silicone oils and epoxy-modified silicone oils, and the superior polarity of carboxyl-modified silicone oils and fatty acid-modified silicone oils, indicate the pigment dispersion performance. It is presumed that it greatly contributes to the improvement of
[0025]
These modified silicone oils have a structure represented by any one of Chemical Formulas 1 to 4, and preferably have a substituent having a molecular weight of 1,000 or less. By adopting such a simple structure, adsorption to the pigment is facilitated, the types of pigments that can be used are increased, and effects such as the viscosity of the completed ink can be suppressed to be low can be expected. Further, the modified silicone oil having such a simple structure is easier to design and manufacture than a silicone-based graft polymer having a large graft portion, and as a result, has an advantage in cost.
[0026]
The amount of the dispersant is preferably in the range of 5 to 500 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the pigment. If the amount is less than 5 parts by weight, it becomes difficult to disperse the pigment in a stable state, and if it exceeds 500 parts by weight, the viscosity becomes high and it becomes difficult to form an ink. In addition, the ink viscosity when the temperature during operation is set to 0 to 50 ° C. is determined from the viewpoint of the ink supply stability and the ink droplet formation flying stability under the high-speed response of the ink jet printer head. Is preferably 30 mPa · s or less.
[0027]
The non-aqueous ink for inkjet of the present invention may further contain general resins and additives such as a surfactant, an antifoaming agent and a surface tension modifier.
[0028]
Pigment dispersion in the production of ink can be performed using a general-purpose disperser (ball mill, attritor, sand mill, etc.).

[0047]
With respect to the inks of Examples 1 to 10 and Comparative Examples 1 to 7, characteristics of stability, nozzle clogging, and clear file deformation were examined. The results are shown in Table 1. Regarding the stability, as an accelerated test, a change in viscosity before and after standing in a 60 ° C. constant temperature bath for one week was evaluated. As the viscometer, a BL viscometer manufactured by Toki Sangyo was used. For nozzle clogging, mount the ink on a piezo-type inkjet head, leave it at room temperature for one week, evaluate whether it will recover by cleaning, and mark circles that have recovered with light cleaning with those that did not. X mark. The clear file deformation was evaluated by examining the shape change when the sample printed with the above head was stored at room temperature for one week in a PP material clear file, CLEAR HOLDER A4 F-780 (manufactured by KOKUYO), and no deformation was observed. Is marked with a circle, and those with a concave deformation are marked with a cross.

[Table 1]
[0049]
As is clear from Table 1, Examples 1 to 6 and 10 using amino-modified silicone oil as a dispersant, Example 7 using epoxy-modified silicone oil, Example 8 using carboxyl-modified silicone oil, and fatty acid modification In Example 9 using silicone oil, the viscosity was sufficiently low, and even when an ink having a high pigment concentration was used, the stability as the ink was high, and no nozzle clogging and no clear file deformation were observed. On the other hand, in Comparative Examples 1 to 5 using dispersants other than these specific modified silicone oils, ink could not be formed due to agglomeration. It was not suitable.
