本発明は、オンライン電子カタログ構成システム及び方法に関する。より詳しくは、３次元仮想空間を用いたオンラインサービスのユーザインタフェース構築技術に関し、３次元仮想空間を用いたオンライン電子カタログサービスのユーザインタフェースを、エンドユーザのアクセス時にユーザプロファイルに合わせて動的にカスタマイズするオンライン電子カタログ構成システム、その端末、その情報登録装置、その電子カタログ定義管理装置、その電子カタログ生成装置、その表示内容管理装置、オンライン電子カタログ構成方法、記録媒体及びプログラムに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来の３次元仮想空間を用いたオンラインサービスのユーザインタフェース構築技術においては、特定アプリケーションによる３次元仮想空間表示を前提とした技術が主流であるが、標準化を目的としたオープンアーキテクチャに基づく３次元仮想空間によるユーザインタフェース構築技術も存在する。

前者の例としては例えばＭａｃｒｏｍｅｄｉａ社のＦｌａｓｈ３Ｄ技術（非特許文献１参照）があり、後者の例としては例えばＶＲＭＬ（ｖｉｒｔｕａｌ ｒｅａｌｉｔｙ ｍｏｄｅｌｉｎｇ ｌａｎｇｕａｇｅ）技術（非特許文献２参照）やＸ３Ｄ技術（非特許文献３参照）がある。

しかしながら、上記従来技術においては、オンライン電子カタログをエンドユーザの情報リテラシーや端末性能、ユーザ嗜好等のユーザプロファイルに合わせて最適化するためには、あらかじめユーザプロファイルを分類しておき、各分類毎にカスタマイズした個別の３次元仮想空間構成情報を作成してサーバに保持しておかなければならない。

Ｘ３ＤはＸＭＬ（ｅＸｔｅｎｓｉｂｌｅ Ｍａｒｋｕｐ Ｌａｎｇｕａｇｅ）ベースの標準化により互換性の問題を解決しようとした例であるが、例えばＸ３Ｄによりこのような最適化を行うためには、ＸＳＬＴ（ｅｘｔｅｎｓｉｂｌｅ ｓｔｙｌｅｓｈｅｅｔ ｌａｎｇｕａｇｅ ｔｒａｎｓｆｏｒｍａｔｉｏｎｓ）等によるＸＭＬ変換規則をＸＭＬによるエンドユーザプロファイル及びＸ３Ｄによる各３次元仮想空間構成情報に対して定義しておく必要があり、いずれも記述に高い自由度を持つ反面、作成や再利用は困難なのが現状である。

本発明は、このような課題に鑑みてなされたもので、その第１の目的は、簡易な構成でオンライン電子カタログをユーザプロファイルに合わせて最適化することができるオンライン電子カタログ構成システム及び方法を提供することにある。
