本発明は、出願人が最初に開発した「プリント倶楽部」（愛称：「プリクラ」）の名で親しまれる画像プリント供給装置の発展型に係り、主として娯楽機械の分野で利用されるものである。

【従来の技術】
従来の画像プリント供給装置は、カーテン等で仕切られた撮影ルーム内で、様々なポーズや表情を作ったユーザーを撮影し、撮影により取得された撮像データに書き込みを行ったり、予め記憶された背景データと合成したものを、複数に分割するなどしてシール上に印刷し、ユーザーに供給するというものであった。

しかしながら、前者は動画像を一定間隔で抽出したものと背景画とを合成した画像を一枚のシールに分割・配列してプリントするものであるため、連続写真として楽しむことができるだけであり、また、後者についてもタイマにより所定期間毎にストーリーが完結する複数のフレーム単位画像が読み出されるものであるため、プリントしたシール自体を他の用途で利用できるものではなかった。

そこで、出願人は、画像プリント供給装置によってプリントされたシールの利用性をより高めるため、プリントされたシールを用いて絵本を作成できるようにすることを課題として、本発明を開発するに至ったものである。
