Abstract
Description
【0001】

機器:AVANCE300(日本ブルカー株式会社製)、溶媒:ジメチルスルホキシド。

【0055】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electrolytic solution for an electrochemical capacitor, and an electrochemical capacitor using the same. The electrochemical capacitor includes an electric double layer capacitor, an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, a pseudo capacitor (redox capacitor), and a battery having a charge / discharge mechanism by charge transfer of ions. More specifically, the present invention relates to an electrochemical capacitor having a high withstand voltage and a high energy density, which is used for memory backup of various electronic devices and for power of an electric vehicle requiring a large current, and an electrolytic solution used for the same.
[0002]
[Prior art]
An electrochemical capacitor using a non-aqueous electrolyte can have a higher withstand voltage, and thus has the advantage that the energy density can be higher than an electrochemical capacitor using an aqueous electrolyte. These are rapidly spreading as backup power supplies for consumer electronic devices. In particular, those using a non-aqueous electrolyte are suitable for electrochemical capacitors having a capacitance of 50 F or more and having a capacitance of 50 F or more, which are used for electric systems such as electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and electric power storage.
[0003]

[Patent Document 1]
WO95 / 15572
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, an electrochemical capacitor using such a non-aqueous electrolyte has problems that its withstand voltage is often insufficient and its capacity decreases with time. An object of the present invention is to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte capable of suppressing a decrease in withstand voltage and a decrease in the capacity of a capacitor, and an electrochemical capacitor using the same.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The inventors of the present invention have conducted intensive studies in view of the above circumstances. As a result, the cause is that the electrolytic solution contains impurities, particularly the cyclic amidinium salt derivative (A) represented by the general formula (2) derived from the cyclic amidinium salt. For this reason, it has been found that by reducing this substance, it is possible to suppress a decrease in the withstand voltage and a decrease in the capacity of the capacitor, and have completed the present invention. It has not been known that such impurities affect the performance of an electrochemical capacitor, particularly an electric double layer capacitor.
That is, the present invention relates to an electrolytic solution for an electrochemical capacitor comprising the cyclic amidinium salt (B) represented by the general formula (1), and the total amount of the cyclic amidinium salt derivative (A) represented by the general formula (2) Is 10 mol% or less with respect to the total amount of (A) and (B),

As a method of reducing the content of (A) to a very small amount as in the present invention, there are a method of suppressing the by-product of (A) during the production of (B) and a method of removing the by-product after the production.
As a method of suppressing the by-product (A) during the production, there is a method of reducing the concentration of carbon dioxide in the system during the reaction. (B) is usually obtained by reacting a tertiary amidine salt with a dialkyl carbonate such as dimethyl carbonate in a protic polar solvent such as methanol at a temperature of 100 to 180 ° C under pressure. Under such conditions, carbon dioxide gas is produced as a by-product due to the reaction between water present in the system and the dialkyl carbonic acid and the decomposition of the monoalkyl carbonate of the cyclic amidinium salt obtained by the reaction, and the carbon dioxide gas is converted to the cyclic amidinium salt. And (A) as a by-product. Accordingly, by reducing the chance of reaction between the carbon dioxide gas and the cyclic amidinium salt, by-product (A) can be suppressed. Specific examples include a method of reducing the concentration of carbon dioxide in the reaction system by increasing the amount of a solvent such as methanol, and a method of performing the reaction while removing carbon dioxide in the reaction system outside the system. As a method of removing carbon dioxide gas from the reaction system to the outside of the system, the pressure is increased by adjusting the valve to increase the pressure generated by the gas generated during the reaction, and the solvent such as methanol is usually passed through a cooling condenser. By condensing and returning to the tank, only gas such as carbon dioxide gas can be removed.
As a method for removing (A) after the production, for example, there are a method of performing adsorption treatment with an adsorbent such as silica gel, activated carbon, activated alumina, and special molecular sieve, a method of removing by recrystallization, and a method of extracting with a solvent. . The method of performing the adsorption treatment, the method of recrystallization, and the method of extraction may be performed alone or in combination.
[0041]

[0042]
The electrochemical capacitor according to the present invention uses the above-mentioned electrolytic solution according to the present invention as an electrolytic solution. The electrochemical capacitor includes an electrode, a current collector, and a separator, and optionally includes a case, a gasket, and the like that are usually used for the capacitor. The electrolyte is impregnated into the electrode and the separator. Among the electrochemical capacitors, those using a polarizable electrode, for example, activated carbon or the like as an electrode are electric double layer capacitors. An aluminum electrolytic capacitor forms an oxide film by electrochemical treatment on the surface of aluminum foil as an electrode and uses it as a dielectric, and sandwiches electrolytic paper impregnated with electrolyte between the aluminum foil as the other electrode. Of structure.
[0043]
The main component of the polarizable electrode is preferably electrochemically inert to the electrolytic solution, and is preferably a carbonaceous substance because of having an appropriate electric conductivity, and as described above, at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode is It is a carbonaceous substance. The specific surface area obtained by the BET method using the nitrogen adsorption method is 10 m2/ G or more of a porous carbon material is more preferred. The specific surface area of the porous carbon material is determined by the capacitance per target unit area (F / m2) Is selected in consideration of the decrease in bulk density due to the increase in specific surface area, but the specific surface area determined by the BET method using a nitrogen adsorption method is 30 to 2,500 m2/ G is preferable and the capacitance per volume is large, so that the specific surface area is 300 to 2,300 m2/ G of activated carbon is particularly preferred.
[0044]
As a raw material of activated carbon, wood, sawdust, palms, pulp waste liquid and other plant-based substances; coal, petroleum heavy oil, or coal-based and petroleum-based pitch obtained by pyrolyzing them, petroleum coke, Fossil fuel materials such as carbon aerogel and tar pitch; phenolic resin, furan resin, polyvinyl chloride resin, polyvinylidene chloride resin, polyimide resin, polyamide resin, synthetic polymer materials such as plastic waste; waste tires, etc. Various types are used. After carbonizing these raw materials, they are activated by a gas activation method or a chemical activation method. The gas activation method is also referred to as physical activation, and is a method of obtaining activated carbon by contacting a carbonized raw material with steam, carbon dioxide, oxygen, other oxidizing gas, or the like at a high temperature. The chemical activation method is a method in which a raw material is uniformly impregnated with an activating chemical, heated in an inert atmosphere, and activated carbon is obtained by a dehydration and oxidation reaction of the chemical. The chemicals used include zinc chloride, phosphoric acid, sodium phosphate, calcium chloride, potassium sulfide, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, potassium carbonate, sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, calcium carbonate and the like. Any of the above methods may be used for producing activated carbon used in the present invention.
[0045]
Among these activated carbons, in the gas activation method, activated carbon obtained from carbonized coconut, coal, or phenolic resin has a relatively high capacitance, and can be mass-produced industrially. Since they are inexpensive, they are suitable for the present invention. Further, in the chemical activation method, activated carbon obtained by chemical activation using potassium hydroxide is preferable because the production cost is high, but the capacitance tends to be large as compared with the steam activation. The activated carbon after the activation treatment is usually heat-treated at 500 to 2,500 ° C., preferably 700 to 1,500 ° C. in an inert atmosphere of nitrogen, argon, helium, xenon, etc. The groups may be removed and the crystallinity of the carbon may be developed to increase electron conductivity.
[0046]
The activated carbon has various shapes such as a crushed shape, a granular shape, a granule, a fiber, a felt, a woven fabric and a sheet shape, and any of them can be used in the present invention. In the case of a granular carbonaceous substance, the average particle diameter is preferably 30 μm or less, since the bulk density of the electrode is improved and the internal resistance is reduced.
[0047]
The polarizable electrode mainly using the above-mentioned carbonaceous substance is usually composed of the carbonaceous substance, a conductive agent and a binder substance. The electrode can be formed by a conventionally known method. For example, it can be obtained by adding polytetrafluoroethylene to a mixture of a carbonaceous substance and acetylene black, mixing, and then press-molding. Further, a sintered body can be obtained by mixing a carbonaceous substance and a binder substance such as pitch, tar, phenol resin and the like, followed by heat treatment in an inert atmosphere. Alternatively, a polarizable electrode can be obtained by sintering only a carbonaceous substance without using a conductive agent or a binder. The shape of the electrode may be any of a thin coating film on the surface of the base material, a sheet-shaped or plate-shaped formed body, and a plate-shaped formed body made of a composite.
[0048]
Examples of the conductive agent used in the electrode include acetylene black, carbon black such as Ketjen black, natural graphite, thermally expanded graphite, carbon-based conductive agents such as carbon fiber; ruthenium oxide, metal oxides such as titanium oxide; Metal fibers such as aluminum and nickel are preferable, and one or more kinds can be used. Acetylene black and Ketjen black are particularly preferred in that the conductivity is effectively improved with a small amount.
[0049]
The amount of the conductive agent in the electrode varies depending on the type and shape of the carbonaceous material. For example, when the carbonaceous material is activated carbon, the amount of the activated carbon varies depending on the bulk density of the activated carbon. In order to maintain the capacitance and reduce the internal resistance, the content is preferably 5 to 50% by weight, particularly preferably 10 to 30% by weight based on the activated carbon.
[0050]
As the binder substance, polytetrafluoroethylene, polyvinylidene fluoride, a fluoroolefin copolymer crosslinked polymer, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylic acid, carboxymethylcellulose, polyimide, phenol resin, petroleum pitch, and coal pitch are preferable, and one or two kinds are preferable. More than one species can be used.
[0051]
The amount of the binder substance in the electrode body varies depending on the type and shape of the carbonaceous substance. For example, when the carbonaceous substance is activated carbon, the amount is preferably 0.5 to 30% by weight based on the activated carbon, and 2 to 30% by weight. % Is particularly preferred.
[0052]
The current collector is not particularly limited as long as it is electrochemically and chemically resistant to corrosion. Examples of the positive electrode current collector include stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and tantalum; As the electric conductor, stainless steel, aluminum, nickel, copper and the like are preferably used.
[0053]
The separator is preferably a material having a small thickness, a high electronic insulating property and a high ion permeability, and is not particularly limited. For example, a nonwoven fabric such as polyethylene or polypropylene, or a viscose rayon or a natural cellulose papermaking may be used. It is preferably used.
[0054]
Embodiments of the electrochemical capacitor of the present invention include a coin type, a wound type, and a square type. The electrolytic solution for an electrochemical capacitor of the present invention can be applied to any electric double layer capacitor or any aluminum electrolytic capacitor.

Using the electrolytic solutions of Examples 1 to 12 and Comparative Examples 1 to 4 shown in Table 1, wound electric double-layer capacitors (size: 18 mm × L40 mm, rating: 2.3 V) were prepared. The withstand voltage of the electrolytic solution was evaluated by measuring the self-discharge characteristics using a circular electric double layer capacitor. Table 1 shows the residual voltage after self-discharge.
Next, a method for measuring the self-discharge characteristic will be described. The wound electric double-layer capacitor prepared above, which was charged at 2.5 V at room temperature for 24 hours, was allowed to stand at room temperature for 50 hours, and then the voltage between terminals of the wound electric double-layer capacitor was measured. The voltage between terminals obtained by this measurement after 24 hours was defined as the residual voltage. The higher the residual voltage, the higher the withstand voltage, and the lower the residual voltage, the lower the withstand voltage.
[0074]
Capacity retention
A high-temperature load test at 70 ° C. and 2.5 V was performed using the wound electric double capacitor, and the capacity retention after 1000 hours has been passed is shown in Table 1.
Capacity retention (%) = (capacity after 1000 hours) / (initial capacity) × 100
Next, a capacitance measuring method will be described. The wound electric double layer capacitor charged at 2.5 V for 1 hour at room temperature is discharged at a constant current of 500 mA using a constant current load device, and the voltage between terminals of the wound electric double layer capacitor is reduced from 1.5 V. The capacity was calculated from the time during which the voltage changed to 1.0 V. The method of calculating the capacity is C = i × Δt / ΔV from the relationship of Q = i × t = C × V. In this measurement, i = 0.5 (A), ΔV = 1.5-1. 0 was set to 0.5 (V). Here, Q is a discharge charge amount (C), i is a discharge current (A), t is a discharge time (sec), C is a capacity (F), and V is a voltage (V).

[0077]
Although the wound type electric double layer capacitor has been described in the first to twelfth embodiments of the present invention, the present invention may be applied to an electrolytic solution of an electric double layer capacitor having another structure such as a coin type or a laminated type. The same effects as in Examples 1 to 12 can be obtained.
[0078]
【The invention's effect】
The electrolytic solution of the present invention is excellent in the withstand voltage and the retention rate of the capacity since the amount of the cyclic amidinium salt derivative (A) as an impurity is small. Due to the above effects, the electrochemical capacitor using the electrolytic solution replaces a secondary battery such as a memory backup of various electronic devices, a backup power source of various power sources, and a power storage element used in combination with a solar cell. It is suitable as a power storage device, a power supply for a motor that requires a large current, a power supply for a power tool such as an electric tool, and a power supply for an electric vehicle.
