Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electrophotographic photoreceptor, a process cartridge, and an electrophotographic apparatus, and more particularly, to an electrophotographic photoreceptor having an intermediate layer and a photosensitive layer on a support in this order, a process cartridge having the electrophotographic photoreceptor, and an electrophotographic apparatus. Equipment related.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Electrophotographic photoreceptors include an intermediate layer for covering defects on the support, improving the adhesion between the photosensitive layer and the support, preventing electrical destruction of the photosensitive layer, and preventing carrier injection from the support into the photosensitive layer. It has been practiced to interpose a layer called (undercoat layer).
[0003]
As a material for forming the intermediate layer, organic resins such as polyurethane, polyvinyl butyral, polyvinyl alcohol, epoxy resin, ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, casein, methyl cellulose, and polyamide have been proposed. However, these resins are susceptible to the influence of the surrounding environment, and have deteriorated characteristics under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions and low-temperature and low-humidity conditions.
[0004]
Therefore, for the purpose of improving these characteristics, an intermediate layer using a polyamic acid resin is proposed in JP-A-7-072643, JP-A-8-234466, and the like.
[0005]
This polyamic acid resin may have an imide structure having an electron-transporting ability due to a part of the ring-closing reaction, and has excellent electrical properties, but has a large residual potential, and has a large residual potential. There are some problems in characteristics.
[0006]
In the case of a negatively charged electrophotographic photoreceptor, the intermediate layer has a carrier (electron) injection property from the photosensitive layer to the support in consideration of prevention of a rise in residual charge and prevention of cycle-up of surface potential. Improvement is needed.
[0007]
Therefore, it is preferable to use an electron-transporting material (electron-transporting substance) for the intermediate layer, and to use an intermediate layer in which a low-molecular-weight electron-transporting substance or an electron-accepting substance is added to a polymer resin. It has been studied (JP-A-55-142356, JP-A-59-170846, etc.).
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when these low molecular weight compounds are easily soluble in an organic solvent, in the step of coating the photoconductive layer on the intermediate layer formed on the support, If the concentration in the medium is reduced, or, on the contrary, if it is difficult to dissolve in the organic solvent, it will cause crystallization in the intermediate layer, and it is difficult to achieve the intended effect There was a problem.

As the electron transporting substance, a substance having a reduction potential (corresponding to the electron affinity Ea) of -0.2 V to -1.0 V with respect to the reference electrode SCE (saturated carmelo electrode) is preferable, and particularly preferably -0.1 V. Those having a voltage of 3 V to -0.7 V are more preferable.

If the reduction potential exceeds -0.7 V, injection of charges (electrons) from the charge generating substance is unlikely to occur, which may cause problems such as an increase in residual potential, deterioration in sensitivity, and an increase in potential fluctuation upon repeated use. If the voltage is less than -0.3 V, problems such as a decrease in charging ability may occur.
[0038]
In the present invention, the reduction potential is measured by the following method.
[0039]
(Method of measuring reduction potential)
The potential applied to the working electrode (platinum) was swept by a potential sweeper using an SCE (saturated calomel electrode) as a reference electrode, 0.1 N (n-Bu) 4 N + ClO 4 -dichloromethane solution as an electrolytic solution, and the resultant was obtained. The potential when the current-potential curve showed a peak was defined as the oxidation potential.
[0040]
Specifically, the sample is dissolved in a 0.1 N (n-Bu) 4 N + ClO 4 -dichloromethane solution to a concentration of about 0.90 mmol%.
[0041]
A voltage is applied to this sample solution by the working electrode, and the voltage is linearly changed from 0 V to -1.5 V (the potential at the peak top where the current value shows a peak in this current-potential curve is E 1 ). further, measuring the current change when linearly changed to 0V from -1.5V (this current - the potential of the position of the peak top current value showed a peak at potential curve E 2), the current - Obtain a potential curve.
[0042]
The obtained (E 1 + E 2 ) / 2 was defined as a reduction potential.
[0043]
Preferred examples of the general formula of the structure of the electron transporting material include the following formulas (A-1) to (A-11), but the present invention is not limited thereto.
