Abstract
Description
【0001】
CD−ROM(Compact Disc−Read Only Memory)、ROM(Read Only Memory)、RAM(Random Access Memory)およびメモリカードなどのコンピュータ読取り可能な記録媒体にて記録させて、プログラム製品として提供することもできる。

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a server, a client, and a client server system, and more particularly, to a server, a client, and a client server system capable of sharing appropriate data.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a conventional client-server system, as a method of mutually reflecting an update result on data held by both a server and a client, a system user performs an operation of reflecting an update result, thereby performing mutual operation at that time. There was a method of comparing data and transmitting and receiving different parts to each other.
[0003]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-82006 proposes an information backup system that monitors the time at which data in a server or a client is accessed, and matches the data based on the time information.
[0004]
In Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-46161, a message is presented to a receiver in a message communication between a plurality of terminals, in consideration of the urgency specified at the time of creation of the message by the sender and the work status of the receiver. A communication method capable of controlling the timing and presentation form of the communication has also been proposed.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, such a conventional technique has a problem in that data updated in one of the client and the server is not reflected on the other until a user of the system performs an operation.
[0006]
In addition, at the time of updating, data is transmitted and received so as to match all different portions as a result of the comparison, so that useless communication traffic is generated due to updating of insignificant data such as infrequently used data. There was also a problem. For example, in the information backup system disclosed in the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-82006, data is matched only based on the access time of data. Irrespective of this, the communication for reflecting the update is performed in order to match the data. Therefore, there is a problem that useless communication traffic is generated.
[0007]
Further, in the communication system disclosed in the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-46161, in a communication system for exchanging messages, only data with low urgency is transmitted at the start of data transmission according to the congestion degree of the communication path. Buffer. As a result, the data transmission is controlled, so that there is a problem that the transmission time cannot be controlled before the start of data transmission for all data. In addition, regardless of the urgency, the entire created data is always transmitted from the transmitting side to the receiving side, so by means such as transmitting only a part such as a summary part of the data according to the importance of the data, There is a problem that useless communication traffic cannot be suppressed.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of these problems, and an update result for data can be mutually reflected between a server holding data and a client holding a copy of the data. It is an object of the present invention to provide a server, a client, and a client-server system capable of sharing data.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To achieve the above object, according to an aspect of the present invention, a server includes a data storage unit that stores data and the importance of the data, and a server that reflects updated data based on the importance of the stored data. Next, the operation when new data is created on the client in the client server system shown in FIG. 1 will be described. Specifically, FIG. 4 is a flowchart illustrating an operation when a user who uses two clients, a PDA (Personal Digital Assistants) and a mobile phone, for managing schedule data creates new schedule data. It will be described with reference to FIG. Here, a description will be given assuming that the PDA as a client includes the client
[0043]
Referring to FIG. 4, first, the user newly creates schedule data in the PDA (
[0044]
All information input by the user in step S102 is temporarily stored in the PDA client
[0045]
Next, the update data communication unit 213 of the client
[0046]
Specifically, if the newly created schedule data is related to a business meeting that has been set in a hurry, the schedule is recorded among the clients held by the user by increasing the setting importance. All clients will be able to register as soon as possible. On the other hand, if the schedule data is for private use outside business hours and the current time is within business hours, there is no need to immediately reflect the schedule data to other clients. Therefore, by setting the degree of importance to be set low, communication for transmitting only the new data to the server is not performed, and data is transmitted to the server later when some communication becomes necessary.
[0047]
Next, at the time set in step S104, the update data communication unit 213 transmits the schedule data, the importance of the data, and the classification information to the server
[0048]
The server
[0049]
Next, the update data communication unit 114 determines, based on the importance of the data, the timing at which the received new data is reflected on the mobile phone, which is another client held by the user, in the same manner as step S104 ( S107).
[0050]
Next, the update data communication unit 114 transmits the data, the importance of the data, and the classification information to the client data management system 20b of the mobile phone managed by the

The update data communication unit 213 of the mobile phone client data management system 20b stores the received data in the
[0052]
As described above, the schedule data newly created by the PDA is reflected on the server and the mobile phone. That is, in the client server system, when new data is created on the first client, the new data is reflected and shared between the server and the second client.
[0053]
Note that, here, the configuration may be such that the importance is not explicitly set by the user in step S102, but is set by the

Further, a configuration may be employed in which the correspondence table 206 used by the

Further, in step S102, the configuration may be such that the classification table 212 used by the
[0057]
Further, in step S102, the configuration may be such that the
[0058]
In steps S102 and S103, the user explicitly and manually sets the timing at which the data is reflected in the server
[0059]
For example, in the above example, when the user explicitly sets the time at which the data is to be reflected on the server at midnight at the time of newly creating schedule data, the time set by the user is prioritized in step S104. In step S105, the update data communication unit 213 reflects the data on the server at 12:00 midnight set by the user.
[0060]
Further, in this example, since communication regarding this data is performed at midnight set by the user, when data is transmitted to the server in step S105, information on the reflection time of this data is also transmitted to the server, and the server data management system It is stored in ten timer
[0061]
Furthermore, when the data newly stored in the server is reflected on the mobile phone as another client of the user, the reflection time set when the user first created the data is used preferentially. Is done. Therefore, in step S107, the data update unit 114 of the server
[0062]
In step S102, time information is added to the importance set for the data, the importance of the data changes in accordance with the change in the time of the time information, and the data is updated with the change in the importance. The configuration may also be such that the timer information for specifying the time also changes.
[0063]
For example, if the data related to the schedule is set to be less important during work hours and more important after work hours than the schedule data related to private appointments, this data Is changed during working hours due to sudden circumstances. In that case, the update of data is delayed during work hours because the data is less important, but the update of data is reflected immediately after work hours because the importance of data increases. It becomes possible.
[0064]
In step S108, the
[0065]
For example, when the update data communication unit 114 transmits data including image data to the client, if the transmitting client cannot process the image data, or communication with the client requires a high communication cost such as a mobile phone line. When the communication path must be used, it is possible to control not to transmit the image data in the data to the client.
[0066]
Here, the importance setting processing by the
[0067]
Referring to FIG. 7, first, a keyword included in data is extracted by keyword extracting section 208 (S201). The keyword extraction method here uses a widely-known keyword extraction technique, and a description thereof will be omitted.
[0068]
Next, the
[0069]
Then, the importance of the data is determined using all the acquired importances (S203). In step S203, for example, the maximum importance among the acquired importances may be adopted as the data importance. Alternatively, an average value of the acquired importance levels may be adopted as the data importance level.
[0070]
Further, the setting processing of the classification information by the
[0071]
Referring to FIG. 8, first, a keyword included in data is extracted by keyword extracting section 208 (S301). The process here is the same as that in step S201 described above, and thus description will not be repeated.
[0072]
Next, the
[0073]
Then, using the acquired classification information, the classification information of the data is determined (S303). For example, when a plurality of pieces of classification information are obtained, the importance corresponding to each keyword is obtained using the correspondence table 211, and the classification information corresponding to the keyword having the highest importance is set as the classification information of the data.
[0074]
The correspondence tables 107, 110, and 112 of the server
[0075]
Here, in step S105, instead of transmitting the data, the importance of the data, and the classification information to the server
[0076]
For example, consider a case where schedule data including document data with a large data amount as additional information is created. At this time, when it is necessary to use a communication line with a low communication speed such as a mobile phone in order to reflect the new creation of data, or when receiving document data having a large data amount like a mobile phone, it is meaningless. Sometimes, it is not preferable to reflect the update even when the data has a high degree of importance. In such a case, since the data itself is important, the server
[0077]
Also, consider a case where it is difficult to transmit large-sized image data shot by a digital camera using a communication line with a low communication speed such as a mobile phone. In this case, a thumbnail image of the photographed image is generated and transmitted through a communication line using a mobile phone, and the shooting data itself is in a situation where a higher-speed communication line can be used later. In this case, it is possible to transmit and receive data flexibly according to the status of an available communication line by separately transmitting the data.
[0078]
Here, if the client cannot communicate in step S108, another configuration may be adopted. Specifically, when the update data communication unit 213 of the client data management system 20b cannot receive the data transmitted from the server, the update data communication unit 114 of the server
[0079]
For example, in the above example, if the mobile phone held by the user is out of the service area, it is impossible to transmit data from the server to the mobile phone in step S108. Therefore, the server delays data transmission until the mobile phone is within the service area. In that case, the server stores update information indicating that data transmission to the mobile phone is necessary in the update
[0080]
When the mobile phone enters the service area, the

Next, an operation when existing data is changed on the client in the client server system shown in FIG. 1 will be described. Here, specifically, a case where a user who uses two clients, a personal computer (hereinafter abbreviated as a personal computer) and a mobile phone for managing address data, updates the existing address data on the mobile phone. The operation will be described with reference to the flowchart in FIG. Here, the description will be made assuming that the mobile phone includes the client

Referring to FIG. 10, first, the user updates existing address data on the mobile phone (S401). Next, the user updates the importance and classification information of the updated address data (S402).

Further, in step S402, similarly to step S102, time information is added to the importance set for the data, and the importance of the data changes according to the change in time according to the time information. Alternatively, the timer information for designating the update time of the data may be changed.

For example, when the address data provided in the mobile phone is updated in the above example, the updated address data itself is not transmitted to the server, but only the information that the address data has been updated is transmitted to the server. Similarly, only information that the update has been performed is transmitted to the personal computer as one client. As a result, it is possible to reduce unnecessary communication traffic for updating address data that is not frequently used. Then, when the personal computer needs to refer to the updated address data, the personal computer can obtain the updated address data from the mobile phone via the server.

Here, specifically, an operation when a user who manages schedule data on a server and uses a PDA and a personal computer as a client, creates new schedule data on the server through a WWW client or the like. This will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.

For example, when new schedule data is created on the server in the above example, the schedule data itself is not immediately transmitted to the user's client PDA and mobile phone, but only that the schedule data has been added. Send information to the client. Then, when the user needs details of the schedule data while using the PDA or the mobile phone, the user requests the server to transmit the schedule data, and the PDA receives the request. This makes it possible to reduce unnecessary communication traffic when the schedule data has a large amount of data including image data and the like and when the importance is low.

[0129]
Here, in step S605, similarly to step S505, the data, the importance of the data, and the classification information may not be transmitted to the client
[0130]
Note that, here, when the client is in a communication-disabled state in step S606 as in step S506, another configuration may be adopted. Specifically, instead of the update data communication unit 213 of the client
[0131]
The client-server system according to the present embodiment has the above-described configuration, and performs the above-described processing, so that the server data management system and the user use the data created and updated by the user in the client data management system. It can be automatically reflected in the client data management system of another client. Further, by controlling the timing of reflecting the data in accordance with the importance of the data, the more important the data, the higher the priority of the processing, and the less unnecessary communication traffic due to the unimportant data can be suppressed. Therefore, appropriate data sharing between the server and the plurality of clients can be realized by efficiently using the communication traffic.
[0132]
That is, it is possible to construct a server that can hold data in the server and efficiently reflect the update result of the data to the client.
[0133]
Further, it is possible to construct a client-server system in which the same data is held in both the client and the server, and the result of updating the data performed in each is automatically reflected on each other.
[0134]
In addition to setting the importance of data, in addition to the user making individual settings for each data, automatically extract keywords included in the data and automatically set the importance based on the keywords. Can be.
[0135]
That is, the user can arbitrarily set the importance of the data and individually set the timing at which each data is updated.
[0136]
In addition, instead of directly specifying the importance of data, the classification information is specified for the data, and the importance is determined based on this information. Can manage.
[0137]
Further, the importance of the data can be automatically set based on the keywords included in the data.
[0138]
Further, data classification information can be automatically set based on a keyword included in the data.
[0139]
Further, since the time at which the update result of the data is reflected is specified as the timer information, the time at which the update result is reflected can be directly specified.
[0140]
Further, even when the data is updated, by communicating only the information that the update has been performed, it is possible to suppress unnecessary communication traffic for transmitting and receiving unnecessary data.
[0141]
That is, information indicating that the data has been updated is managed, and when the updated data itself is not needed for the time being, only this information is transmitted and received between the client and the server, so that the data is updated. However, it is possible to reduce the amount of communication required for transmitting and receiving unnecessary data for the time being.
[0142]
When creating information indicating that data has been updated, it is possible to individually specify what information is included in the information indicating that the data has been updated according to the content of the data.
[0143]
Further, when the operation state of the client changes, information indicating that the data has been updated can be automatically transmitted / received, for example, at the timing when the power is turned on or when communication becomes possible. .
[0144]
Further, it is possible to control the timing of exchanging information indicating that the data has been updated between the client and the server according to the importance of the data as well as when the operation state of the client changes.
[0145]
Further, in the present embodiment, data created and updated by the user in the server data management system can be similarly reflected and shared by all clients used by the user.
[0146]
Furthermore, the data management method in the client server system described above can be provided as a program. Such a program is stored in a computer-readable recording medium such as a flexible disk, a compact disc-read only memory (CD-ROM), a read only memory (ROM), a random access memory (RAM), and a memory card attached to a computer. Can be recorded and provided as a program product. Alternatively, the program can be provided by being recorded on a recording medium such as a hard disk incorporated in the computer. Further, the program can be provided by downloading via a network.
[0147]
The provided program product is installed and executed in a program storage unit such as a hard disk. Note that the program product includes the program itself and a recording medium on which the program is recorded.
[0148]
The embodiments disclosed this time are to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the present invention is defined by the terms of the claims, rather than the description above, and is intended to include any modifications within the scope and meaning equivalent to the terms of the claims.
