Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a thermal transfer image forming method using a sublimation type thermal transfer method, a fusion type thermal transfer method, and the like, and more particularly to a thermal transfer image forming apparatus, and more particularly, to a thermal transfer image forming method for forming an image via an intermediate transfer medium. And a thermal transfer image forming apparatus.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, an image is formed by transferring a sublimation dye (sublimation-type thermal transfer system) or a molten ink (melt-type thermal transfer system) onto a receiving layer of an intermediate transfer medium composed of a receiving layer and a substrate layer. A method of forming an image on a printing medium by peeling off and re-transferring the receiving layer (intermediate transfer medium method) has been proposed (see Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. Sho 62-238791).
[0003]
In the above-mentioned intermediate transfer medium system, an image can be formed on an arbitrary printing medium, and (1) high-quality image formation independent of the surface state of the printing medium can be performed. It is possible to obtain effects such as the ability to form an image (without borders), (3) the ability to form a glossy image, and (4) excellent durability of the printing medium after image formation.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the related art, when the coloring material (sublimation dye, molten ink) of the ink sheet is transferred to the intermediate transfer medium by the heating action of the thermal head, the ink sheet is originally stretched uniformly near the thermal head. However, depending on the transfer image pattern, the tension of the ink sheet becomes uneven between the transfer portion and the non-transfer portion, and as a result, abnormal deformation such as wrinkles and streaks occurs on the ink sheet, There is a problem that image formation on the intermediate transfer medium and, consequently, image formation on the printing medium cannot be performed normally. This problem is particularly remarkable when the uniformity of the thermal head surface is impaired due to long-term use of the thermal head.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and prevents an ink sheet from being abnormally deformed such as wrinkles or streaks during transfer, and forms an image on an intermediate transfer medium and an image on a printing medium. It is an object of the present invention to provide an intermediate transfer medium type thermal transfer image forming method, a thermal transfer image forming apparatus, and the like, which can perform the image transfer normally.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a first aspect of the present invention is to transfer a color material of an ink sheet to an intermediate transfer medium and re-transfer the transferred color material to a print medium, thereby forming an image on the print medium. Forming a dummy image on the intermediate transfer medium by transferring a color material of the ink sheet outside a retransfer area which is an area corresponding to the printing medium. A method of forming a bonding area of the coloring material between the ink sheet and the intermediate transfer medium outside the retransfer area.
[0007]
Preferably, the transfer is at least one of sublimation thermal transfer and fusion thermal transfer.
It is preferable that the coloring material is at least one of a sublimation dye and a molten ink.
It is preferable that the dummy images are formed on both outer sides of the retransfer area in the transport direction of the ink sheet and the intermediate transfer medium.
Preferably, the dummy image includes one of a one-dot line, a broken line, a wavy line, and a double line.
[0008]
"Thermal transfer image formation of the intermediate transfer medium type" is to form an image on a printing medium via the intermediate transfer medium. The color material of the ink sheet is first transferred to the receiving layer of the intermediate transfer medium, and then the color material is re-transferred to the printing medium together with the receiving layer.
The "intermediate transfer medium" is composed of a substrate layer and a peelable receiving layer. The base material layer is, for example, a plastic material. The receiving layer receives and fixes the color material of the transferred ink sheet. The receiving layer is transmissive and is retransferred to the printing medium together with the coloring material, and plays a role of protecting the surface of the printing medium.
[0009]
The “printing medium” is an object on which an image is to be formed. Regarding the thermal transfer image forming of the intermediate transfer medium type, the material and the surface unevenness are not limited. Printing media are, for example, cards, postcards, and various types of paper.
The “retransfer area” is an area corresponding to a printing medium. On the other hand, the transfer area is an area where the color material of the ink sheet can be transferred. In the thermal transfer image formation using the intermediate transfer medium, the transfer area is made wider than the retransfer area, so that the image can be formed on the entire printing medium.
[0010]
The “ink sheet” has a color material layer carried on a base material layer such as a plastic film. The coloring material is a sublimation dye (thermal sublimation dye) obtained by melting and dispersing a heat sublimable dye or the like in a wax or a binder resin, or a molten ink in which a pigment or the like is melted or dispersed in a wax or a binder resin or the like. (Hot-melt ink).
"Sublimation type thermal transfer" is a method in which thermal energy is applied to an ink sheet having a sublimation dye layer by a thermal head or the like in accordance with image information, and the sublimation dye is transferred to a receiving layer of a transfer object such as an intermediate transfer medium or a printing medium. The process is shifted to form an image.
"Fusing type thermal transfer" is a method in which thermal energy is applied to an ink sheet having a molten ink layer by a thermal head or the like according to image information, and the molten ink is fixed on a transfer target such as an intermediate transfer medium or a printing medium. An image is formed.
[0011]
The “dummy image” is formed by transferring the color material of the ink sheet to the intermediate transfer medium outside the retransfer area. This dummy image is not retransferred to the printing medium. The dummy image is, for example, one dot line, broken line, wavy line, or double line.
“Abnormal deformation” refers to wrinkles, streaks, and the like that occur in the ink sheet.
[0012]
In the first invention, the color material of the ink sheet is transferred outside the retransfer area to form a dummy image on the intermediate transfer medium, and the color material is interposed between the ink sheet and the intermediate transfer medium outside the retransfer area. Produces an adhesive area.
In the first invention, an adhesive area is formed between the ink sheet and the intermediate transfer medium not only in the retransfer area but also in the outer area. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the ink sheet from being deformed such as wrinkles or streaks during transfer.
[0013]
A second invention is an intermediate transfer medium type thermal transfer image forming an image on the printing medium by transferring a color material of an ink sheet to an intermediate transfer medium and re-transferring the transferred color material to a printing medium. A forming device, which forms a dummy image on the intermediate transfer medium by transferring a color material of the ink sheet outside a retransfer area that is an area corresponding to the printing medium, and forms the dummy image outside the retransfer area. A thermal transfer image forming apparatus, characterized in that an adhesive area of the coloring material is formed between an ink sheet and the intermediate transfer medium.
[0014]
The second invention is an invention of a thermal transfer image forming apparatus using the thermal transfer image forming method of the first invention.
[0015]

As described above, according to the present embodiment, the dummy image is formed outside the retransfer area, and the transfer process is performed not only in the retransfer area but also outside the retransfer area. However, even outside the retransfer area, an adhesive area is formed between the ink sheet and the intermediate transfer medium. Therefore, when the color material of the ink sheet is transferred to the intermediate transfer medium, it is possible to prevent the ink sheet from being abnormally deformed such as wrinkles and stripes. Therefore, the thermal transfer image forming apparatus 1 can perform the image forming process on the intermediate transfer medium or the printing medium normally and stably for a long time. As a result, it is possible to reduce the cost burden such as maintenance cost related to the thermal transfer image forming apparatus 1 and the labor burden.
[0038]
FIG. 11 is a diagram showing various forms of the
The dummy image is not limited to a specific form as long as an adhesive region is formed between the ink sheet and the intermediate transfer medium outside the retransfer region. As shown in FIG. 11, the dummy image may be one dot line 61, broken line 63, wavy line 65, double line 67, or the like.
[0039]
The preferred embodiments of the thermal transfer image forming method and the thermal transfer image forming apparatus according to the present invention have been described above with reference to the accompanying drawings, but the present invention is not limited to such examples. It is obvious to those skilled in the art that various changes or modifications can be made within the scope of the technical idea disclosed in the present application, and these naturally belong to the technical scope of the present invention. I understand.
