【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、網羅的かつ即時的に出版関連情報を提供するシステムに関する。より詳細には、週刊誌、隔週誌、月刊誌、季刊誌、写真誌、広告誌、単行本、文庫本、全集、ＣＤ、ビデオソフト、ＤＶＤなど、文字、画像、音声などよりなる多様かつ大量の出版物に関する情報の中から、適時に適切な情報を選択して、不特定多数人に提供するシステムに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、出版関連情報のユーザたる閲読者、観覧者、聴取者は、かかる多様かつ大量の出版物に関する情報を、出版物それ自体、表紙や目次を掲げられた広告物、書誌的事項データを掲げた出版目録書などとして、書店の書架、交通機関の中吊り広告、野外広告、テレビ広告、新聞広告、書籍に附属する出版目録、書籍の販売に際して挟み込まれる出版広告、出版社のウェブサイトに掲げられる出版目録、各種ウェブサイトに挿入されるバナー広告、公立または私立の図書館の書架、検索端末、検索カードなどの検索手段に求めていた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、出版関連情報が多様かつ大量であるにもかかわらず、そうした検索手段はいずれも限定的、散発的または非即時的であった。そのため、ユーザが自己に適した出版関連情報や、自己が求める出版関連情報に、確実かつ即時的かつ効率的にアクセスすることは困難であった。

その結果として、出版関連情報のユーザおよび出版関連情報のサプライヤ（提供者）並びに両者の間を媒介すべき広告に、それぞれ大きなミスマッチが生じていた。すなわち、必要な出版関連情報にアクセスできない多数のユーザがいる一方で、売れ残った多量の在庫を抱えたサプライヤがいて、それにもかかわらずユーザ・サプライヤ間を十分に媒介できない広告物が巷に氾濫するという不合理が生じていた。

特に、ライフサイクルの短い雑誌類について、その不合理性は著しかった。すなわち、雑誌類、ことに週刊誌、隔週誌、月刊誌などは、その速報性を本質とし、発売日から２、３日、長くても１週間程度しか商品としての価値を持ち得ないことが多い。そのため、サプライヤは見込みによって出版量を決定し、その結果として、地域による供給不足や供給過剰が生じ、みすみす販売の機会を逸したり、売れ残りを処分したりせざるを得なかった。これを裏返せば、すなわちユーザの不便でもあった。

また、雑誌類は、いわゆるハードカバーの単行本などと異なり、消耗品として観念されるのが通常である。そのため、一部の公共図書館を除けば、雑誌類のバックナンバーがもれなく保管されることは稀である。しかし、ユーザの中には、趣味で特定の種類の情報を収集する者もいれば、研究のために一定の事件の報道を追跡する専門家もいる。そのようなユーザが、例えば１年前の週刊誌を入手しようとしても、それは容易なことではない。

かくのごとく、出版関連情報の提供に関する従来の技術は、網羅性、即時性、効率性、保管性を欠き、出版関連情報の供給の過不足を生じていた。本発明が解決しようとする課題は、以上のような出版関連情報の供給に関する不合理性をなくすことにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記の目的を達成するために、本発明の出版関連情報配信システムにおいては通信ネットワーク並びに該通信ネットワークにそれぞれ接続された単数または複数のサプライヤ端末、オペレータ・センタおよび単数または複数のユーザ端末をもって出版関連情報配信システムを構成する。
