TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a pneumatic radial tire having a block pattern, and more particularly, to a pneumatic radial tire that suppresses generation of cracks at the bottom of a lateral groove that partitions a block.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a pneumatic radial tire having a block pattern, when a block is twisted by torque generated during braking or cornering, a shear stress acts on a groove bottom of a lateral groove extending in a tire width direction for defining the block, and the groove is formed. Cracks (cracks) may occur at the bottom.
[0003]
In general, the curvature is imparted to the bottom of the lateral groove to relieve the stress. However, particularly in heavy-duty pneumatic radial tires such as trucks and buses, the bottom of the lateral groove has a high load and a high load. Due to shear stress, a sufficient effect may not be obtained simply by providing the above-mentioned curvature. In particular, the block formed in the shoulder portion is easily affected by torsion at the time of cornering, so that cracks are remarkably generated. Therefore, in order to suppress the occurrence of cracks, a method has been proposed in which a raised bottom is formed in the lateral groove to increase the rigidity of the block. However, such a method impairs the traction performance after abrasion progresses, and is therefore always a preferable measure. Was not.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is to provide a pneumatic radial tire capable of effectively suppressing the occurrence of cracks at the bottom of a lateral groove that partitions a block.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The pneumatic radial tire of the present invention for solving the above-mentioned object is provided with a plurality of main grooves extending in a tire circumferential direction and a plurality of lateral grooves extending in a tire width direction on a tread portion. In the pneumatic radial tire that has divided the blocks, the inclination angle of a pair of groove walls facing each other in the lateral grooves included in at least one block row of the lateral grooves is changed along the groove length direction, and at the groove bottom portion, The length of the groove wall is made larger than the length of the groove wall on the tread surface portion, and the shape of the pair of groove walls is plane-symmetrical.
[0006]
By changing the groove wall inclination angle of the lateral groove along the groove length direction and making the groove wall length at the groove bottom portion larger than the groove wall length at the tread surface portion, the stress on the groove bottom portion is reduced. The concentration can be reduced, and the occurrence of cracks can be effectively suppressed. Further, since the shape of the pair of groove walls is plane-symmetric, that is, the convex portions formed on the pair of groove walls are arranged at the same position, an extremely large external force is applied to the block as in the case where the tire falls into the hole. When it acts, the deformation of the block is suppressed by the interference between these convex portions, whereby an excellent crack suppressing effect can be exhibited. Therefore, the present invention is extremely effective for pneumatic radial tires for heavy loads.
[0007]
In the present invention, it is preferable to change the inclination angle of a pair of groove walls facing each other in the horizontal groove included in the block row located at least in the shoulder region among the horizontal grooves along the groove length direction. Thereby, generation of cracks in the shoulder region of the tread portion can be effectively suppressed.
[0008]
In addition, in order to obtain a sufficient crack suppressing effect without causing inconvenience in traction performance, etc., the groove wall inclination angle of the lateral groove changes from 0 to 15 degrees to the groove center side with respect to the tread normal passing through the upper edge of the groove. It is preferable that the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the groove wall inclination angle of the lateral groove be 2 degrees or more.
[0009]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0010]
FIG. 1 shows a tread pattern of a pneumatic radial tire for heavy loads according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is an enlarged view showing a block near a shoulder portion. In FIG. 1, CL is the tire center line, and R is the tire rotation direction. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the tread portion 1 is provided with a plurality of main grooves 2 extending in the tire circumferential direction and a plurality of lateral grooves 3 extending in the tire width direction. A plurality of blocks 4 are defined by the main groove 2 and the lateral groove 3. These blocks 4 form a plurality of block rows connected in the tire circumferential direction.
[0011]
In the lateral groove 3A included in the block row located in the shoulder region of the tread portion 1 of the lateral groove 3, the inclination angles of the pair of opposed groove walls periodically change along the groove length direction. That is, as shown in FIGS. 3A and 3B, the inclination angle of the pair of groove walls 31 facing each other in the lateral groove 3A periodically changes between the maximum value α and the minimum value β. I have. Therefore, each groove wall 31 has a shape at the tread surface and a shape at the groove bottom different from each other, and is substantially linear at the tread surface, but has a waveform or zigzag shape at the groove bottom. As a result, in the lateral groove 3A, the groove wall length at the groove bottom is larger than the groove wall length at the tread surface. However, the groove wall length is the length of the groove wall surface measured along the groove length direction. In the lateral groove 3A, the shapes of the pair of opposed groove walls 31, 31 are plane-symmetric. That is, the convex portions formed on the groove walls 31, 31 are arranged at positions facing each other.
[0012]
In the above-described pneumatic radial tire for heavy load, a large external force is repeatedly applied to the groove bottom of the lateral groove 3A during running, but the inclination angle of the groove wall 31 of the lateral groove 3A is changed along the groove length direction, and the groove bottom is changed. Since the length of the groove wall is larger than the length of the groove wall at the tread surface portion, the external force applied to the groove bottom can be dispersed and cracks can be effectively suppressed. Further, since the shape of the pair of groove walls 31, 31 is plane-symmetric, for example, when an extremely large external force acts on the block 4 such as when a tire falls into a hole, the groove walls 31, 31 are formed. The convex portions contact each other to suppress the deformation of the block 4. Therefore, external force applied to the groove bottom of the lateral groove 3A is reduced, which contributes to suppression of cracks.
[0013]
In the pneumatic radial tire, the inclination angle of the groove wall 31 of the lateral groove 3A is preferably changed in a range of 0 to 15 degrees toward the groove center with respect to the tread normal L passing through the upper edge of the groove. That is, the maximum value α and the minimum value β of the inclination angle of the groove wall 31 are preferably set in a range of 0 to 15 degrees toward the groove center with respect to the tread normal L passing through the upper edge of the groove. If the inclination angle of the groove wall 31 exceeds 15 degrees, a sufficient groove depth cannot be obtained, and as a result, the tread pattern changes after abrasion progresses, and the traction performance is reduced. If the inclination angle of the groove wall 31 is less than 0 degrees, the groove wall 31 has an overhang shape, so that it is difficult for the tire to be removed from the mold during tire production.
[0014]
It is preferable that the difference between the maximum value α and the minimum value β of the inclination angle of the groove wall 31 of the lateral groove 3A be 2 degrees or more. When the difference between the maximum value α and the minimum value β is less than 2 degrees, the groove wall length at the groove bottom does not become much larger than the groove wall length at the tread surface, so that stress concentration on the groove bottom occurs. The effect of alleviating is insufficient.
[0015]
As shown in FIGS. 3A and 3B, the groove wall 31 of the lateral groove 3A has a convex portion based on a change in the groove wall angle in a plan view. As described above, a form in which the number of protrusions is increased may be employed. The number of projections on each groove wall 31 is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, 2 to 6.
[0016]
In the above-described embodiment, the inclination angle of the pair of groove walls facing each other in the horizontal groove included in the block row located in the shoulder region of the tread portion is changed along the groove length direction. By setting the groove wall inclination angle for the lateral grooves included in the block row located in the shoulder region of the portion, a remarkable crack suppressing effect can be obtained. Of course, even when the above-mentioned groove wall inclination angle is set for a lateral groove included in a block row different from the block row located in the shoulder region, a crack suppressing effect is expected.
[0017]
【Example】
In the heavy duty pneumatic radial tire having the block pattern of the tire size 11R22.5 14PR, the configuration of the lateral grooves included in the row of blocks located in the shoulder region of the tread portion was changed as shown in Table 1, and Examples 1 and 2 were manufactured respectively. However, in the conventional example 1, the inclination angle of the groove wall of the lateral groove is fixed. In Conventional Example 2, the inclination angle of the groove wall of the lateral groove is made constant, and a raised portion is provided in a part of the lateral groove. On the other hand, in Examples 1 and 2, the inclination angle of a pair of groove walls facing each other in the lateral groove is changed along the groove length direction, and the groove wall length at the groove bottom is larger than the groove wall length at the tread surface. In addition, the shape of the pair of groove walls is plane-symmetric.
[0018]
With respect to these test tires, the presence or absence of cracks and traction performance were evaluated by the following test methods, and the results are shown in Table 1.
[0019]
Whether cracks occur:
The test tire was mounted on a truck at an air pressure of 700 kPa, and after traveling 50,000 km on a pavement road, the occurrence of cracks in the lateral grooves in the shoulder region was examined.
[0020]
Traction performance:
The test tire was mounted on a truck at an air pressure of 700 kPa, and after traveling 50,000 km on a pavement road, a feeling evaluation was performed by five drivers on traction performance when the vehicle started on a sandy road surface.
[0021]
[Table 1]
[0022]
As can be seen from Table 1, Examples 1 and 2 were able to suppress the occurrence of cracks with almost no loss of traction performance as compared with Conventional Example 1. On the other hand, in Conventional Example 2, the traction performance after the progress of wear was insufficient because the bottom groove was provided with the raised bottom.
[0023]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, a plurality of main grooves extending in the tire circumferential direction and a plurality of lateral grooves extending in the tire width direction are provided on the tread portion, and a plurality of blocks are defined by these main grooves and the lateral grooves. In the pneumatic radial tire, the inclination angle of a pair of groove walls facing each other in the horizontal grooves included in at least one block row of the horizontal grooves is changed along the groove length direction, and the groove wall length at the groove bottom is changed. Since the length of the groove wall is made larger than the length of the groove wall at the tread surface portion and the shape of the pair of groove walls is made plane-symmetric, stress concentration on the groove bottom portion can be reduced, and generation of cracks can be effectively suppressed. .
