ル円盤の周面同士を対向させ、それらの周面間に少なく
とも二片の包装フィルムを噛み込みつつ、一対のドラム
の互いに反対方向の回転によって包装フィルム同士(例
えば、二つ折りした一枚の包装フィルムの端縁同士)を
ヒートシールするための縦ヒートシールロールが広く知
られている。 【0003】このような縦ヒートシールロールを含む包
装機械によって、いわゆる三方シール、四方シールとい
った小袋包装形態が得られる。そして、かかる小袋に
は、容易に開封できるようにシール部にノッチ(切り欠
き)や切れ目が包装機械に設けられたカッターによって
形成されることもある。 【0004】ところで、包装フィルムにおいても開封
(引き裂き)の容易性を図ったものとして、例えば図4
(A)に示すように、フィルム端縁41,42(互いに
ヒートシールされる部分)の積層構造において、同図
(B)に示すように、最外層である延伸ナイロン層43
にのみ多数の孔44・・・を形成したものが知られてい
る。 【0005】フィルム端縁41、42同士は、ヒートシ
ール材としてのポリエチレン層45を貼り合せてヒート
シールされる。この場合、延伸ナイロン層43及び基材
としての塩化ビニリデン層46は熱融点が高いので、ポ
リエチレン層45が熱溶融しても熱溶融しない。 【0006】そして、この種の包装フィルムから得られ
た小袋のヒートシール部の両表面には、同図(C)にも
示すように多数の孔44・・・が凹部となって表出す
る。この多数の凹部44・・・が存在することで小袋の
ヒートシール部の引裂強度が弱くなり、その分だけ容易
に開封しやすくなる。なお、上記の孔の他に同層に多数
の切り込みを形成したものもある。 【0007】 【発明が解決しようとする課題】しかしながら、この種
の包装フィルムは、フィルム端縁に切り込みや孔が形成
されているため、スティックタイプ等の個装体を生産す
る間歇送り型の包装機のように包装フィルムに引張力が
断続的に加わる場合には、包装フイルムが切れやすいと
いう欠点がある。また、この種の包装フィルムは、切り
込みや孔があるために包装フィルムの厚さが均一でな
く、包装フィルムの原反から繰り出されて縦ヒートシー
ルロールに到達するまでの間で、各種の移送ロールの表
面で蛇行し易いという欠点もある。さらに、特殊な加工
を施しているために総じて高価であるという問題もあ
る。 【0008】本発明は、上記の技術的課題を考え合わせ
て創作されたもので、高価な特殊な包装フィルムを使用
しなくとも、包装フィルムが切れたり蛇行したりするト
ラブルを回避しつつ、開封しやすい個装体を得ることの
できる縦ヒートシールロールを提供することを目的とし
ている。 【0009】 【課題を解決するための手段】本発明に係る縦ヒートシ
ールロールは、上記の技術的課題を解決するために、円
柱状のドラムの少なくとも一方の端部に前記ドラムより
も長径のヒートシール円盤が前記ドラムと同心に取り付
けられ、前記ヒートシール円盤の周面に全周にわたって
凹凸が施された縦ヒートシールロールと、該縦ヒートシ
ールロールと同一の構成の他の縦ヒートシールロールと
を一対にして前記ヒートシール円盤の周面同士を対向さ
せ、該周面間に少なくとも二片の包装フィルムを噛み込
みつつ、前記一対のドラムの互いに反対方向の回転によ
って前記包装フィルム同士をヒートシールすることがで
きる縦ヒートシールロールにおいて、前記ヒートシール
円盤よりも長径の補助円盤が前記ヒートシール円盤のさ
らに外側に前記ドラムと同心に取り付けられ、前記補助
円盤の周面には全周にわたって凹凸が施されていること
を特徴としている。 【0010】本発明に係る縦ヒートシールロールによれ
ば、ヒートシール円盤よりも長径の補助円盤がヒートシ
ール円盤のさらに外側にドラムと同心に取り付けられ、
補助円盤の周面には全周にわたって凹凸が施されている
ので、互いにヒートシールさせる包装フィルムの端縁の
表面に凹部が形成され、この凹部が存在することによっ
て得られた個装体のヒートシール部(縦シール部)の引
裂強度が低下して、その分だけ個装体の開封が容易にな
る。 【0011】 【発明の実施の形態】以下、本発明に係る縦ヒートシー
ルロールの実施の形態を図面に基づいて説明する。図1
は、本発明に係る縦ヒートシールロール(以下、単に
「シールロール」という。)を示す平面図である。 【0012】シールロール1(2)は、円柱状のドラム
3(4)を備えている。ドラム3(4)の一方の端部E

圧され、それらのポリエチレン層が互いに熱融着され

40ミクロン)長径の補助円盤11(12)がドラム3

ヒートシールさせる包装フィルムの端縁の表面に凹部が
形成され、この凹部が存在することによって得られた個
装体のヒートシール部(縦シール部)の引裂強度が低下
して、その分だけ個装体の開封が容易になるという優れ
た効果を奏することができる。
