上述したヒートシールバーのシール温度を高くして横シールを強化する方法によれば、包装速度を低下させないで済むので包装速度が大きくなるに従いシール時間(ウエブの間欠停止時間内で確保する)が比例的に短くなるから有効である。しかし、無駄紙防止のために稼働を一時停止し再び稼働するときにヒートシールバーのシール温度が異常に高温となりウエブがヒートシールバーに溶着してしまう惧れがあるので、ヒートシールバーのシール温度を高くするには限度があり包装速度の高速化(例えば、毎分100袋以上の包装速度にすること)に対応できなかった。また、シール温度を高くしシール時間を短くすると、ウエブを構成している熱可溶性の内層フィルム同士が十分に溶着しなくなり外層フィルムとの接着も剥がれる等のシール不良となり、またウエブを構成している熱町塑性の外層フィルムにダメージを与えてしまう。
また、上述したシール時間を長くとって横シールを強化する方法によれば、包装速度の高速化に対応させることが全くできなかった。
