【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、前輪を軸支するフ
ロントフォークを操向可能に支承するヘッドパイプが前
端に設けられる車体フレームと、該車体フレームの後部
に設けられるシート上の操縦者を拘束し得る拘束装置と
を備える小型車両に関し、特に、前面衝突時に小型車両
の車体に生じるピッチング挙動を抑制するための構造に
関する。

【従来の技術】衝突等による衝撃が作用したときに、シ
ート上の操縦者をエアバッグで拘束するようにした小型
車両たとえば自動二輪車が、たとえば特開平9−328
053号公報等で既に知られている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】上記従来のものでは、
衝突時等にシート上の操縦者をエアバッグ等に拘束する
ことで、操縦者の衝撃を緩和するようにしているのであ
るが、自動二輪車等の小型車両では前面衝突が生じたと
きには、慣性によって車体後部が浮き上がるようなピッ
チング挙動が車体に生じる可能性があり、そのような車
体のピッチング挙動が生じると、エアバッグ装置等の拘
束装置による操縦者の拘束性が低下する可能性がある。
【0004】本発明は、かかる事情に鑑みてなされたも
のであり、前面衝突時の車体ピッチング挙動を抑えて、
拘束装置による拘束性の低下を防止した小型車両におけ
る車体ピッチング抑制構造を提供することを目的とす
る。

【課題を解決するための手段】上記目的を達成するため
に、本発明は、前輪を軸支するフロントフォークを操向
可能に支承するヘッドパイプが前端に設けられる車体フ
レームと、該車体フレームの後部に設けられるシート上
の操縦者を拘束し得る拘束装置とを備える小型車両にお
いて、前方側からの衝撃の作用に応じて前記前輪が車体
フレームに対して後退するときに、該前輪に接触すると
ともに接触した前輪を下方にガイドするガイド部が、前
輪に後方から対向する位置で前記車体フレームの前部に
設けられることを特徴とする。
【0006】かかる構成によれば、前面衝突が生じる
と、前輪は、フロントフォークを屈曲させながら車体フ
レームに対して後退しようとするが、車体フレームの前
部に設けられたガイド部に前輪が接触すると、該ガイド
部は、前輪を下方に移動する方向にガイドすることにな
る。これにより、前面衝突時には車体後部が浮き上がる
ようなピッチング挙動を生じさせる力が慣性によって車
体には作用するが、前記前輪を下方にガイドすることに
よって車体前部に生じる上向きの反力と、車体後部に生
じる上向きの慣性力とが相殺されることにより、車体の
ピッチング挙動が抑制されることになる。したがって前
面衝突時に、拘束装置によるシート上の操縦者の拘束性
が低下することを防止して操縦者に作用する衝撃を緩和
することができる。

【発明の実施の形態】以下、本発明の実施の形態を、添
付の図面に示した本発明の一実施例に基づいて説明す
る。

ものであり、図1は自動二輪車の側面図、図2は前面衝
突時の自動二輪車の側面図である。
【0009】先ず図1において、この自動二輪車の車体
フレーム5が前端に備えるヘッドパイプ6にはフロント
フォーク7が操向可能に支承され、フロントフォーク7
の下端に前輪WFが軸支され、フロントフォーク7の上
部に操向ハンドル8が連結される。また車体フレーム5
の後部にはスイングアーム9が上下揺動可能に軸支され
ており、このスイングアーム9の後端に後輪WRが軸支
される。
【0010】車体フレーム5の前半部には、燃料タンク
10が搭載され、車体フレーム5の後部上には、前記燃
料タンク10の後方に配置されるタンデム型のシート1
2が配設される。

グ装置13が設けられており、このエアバッグ装置13

操縦者に作用する衝撃を緩和することができる。
