2. Description of the Related Art Electronic copying machines, facsimiles, printers,
Alternatively, it is well known in the prior art to employ the fixing device of the above type in an image forming apparatus configured as a multi-function peripheral having at least these two functions. In this type of fixing device, since the toner of the toner image is heated when the toner image passes through the nip portion, the toner acts as an adhesive and the recording medium exiting the nip portion is a fixing member of any one of the fixing members. There is a risk that the recording medium will not be separated from the surface of the recording medium and will be wrapped around while being attached to the surface of the recording medium, causing the recording medium to jam.

Therefore, conventionally, a plurality of separation claws are brought into contact with the surface of the fixing member, or the tips of the separation claws are arranged slightly apart from the surface of the fixing member, and the recording is carried out from the nip portion by the separation claws. The medium is separated from the surface of the fixing member to prevent the recording medium from winding around the surface of the fixing member. However, when such a separating claw is used, the toner may adhere to the tip of the separating claw, and the adhered toner may cause the tip of the separating claw to float from the surface of the fixing member. In this case, a large gap is formed between the tip of the separation claw and the surface of the fixing member, and the recording medium may sneak into it, which may cause the recording medium to jam.

When the separation claw is arranged to face the fixing belt and the recording medium adhered to the fixing belt is peeled off as in the conventional case, the toner on the recording medium and the separation claw rub directly. As a result, a small amount of toner on the recording medium moves to the tip of the separation claw, and the toner is fixed. When the amount of the adhered toner increases with time, the toner adhered to the tip of the separation claw comes into contact with the surface of the fixing belt as described above, which causes the tip of the separation claw to float from the surface of the fixing belt. A large gap may be formed between the tip of the separation claw and the fixing belt, and the recording medium attached to the fixing belt may enter there, and the recording medium may not be separated from the fixing belt.

On the other hand, since the separation rotating body 22 shown in FIGS. 2 to 5 is rotationally driven in the above-described direction, the recording medium P moves while being in contact with the surface of the separation rotating body 22. However, since the surface of the separation rotator 22 moves in the same direction as the moving direction of the recording medium P, the surface of the separation rotator 22 and the toner on the recording medium do not rub against each other violently. It is possible to prevent a large amount of toner from adhering to the peripheral surface of 22. Therefore, the recording medium P can be efficiently separated from the surface of the fixing belt 12 for a long period of time.

Further, in the fixing device of this embodiment, unlike the separating claws arranged in the immovable state, the recording medium P is separated from the surface of the fixing belt 12 while positively rotating the separating rotor 22. The recording medium can be more reliably separated from the surface of the fixing belt 12 than the separation claw.

As shown in FIG. 4, while the leading end side of the recording medium P is gripped by the outlet roller pair 21 and a part of the recording medium P adheres to the surface of the fixing belt 12,
When a large amount of toner is present on the recording medium P and the recording medium strongly adheres to the fixing belt 12, in the conventional fixing device, the adhesive force of the recording medium to the fixing belt is too strong, and the recording medium is Although the paper may be pulled back to the side of the fixing belt to cause a jam, in the fixing device of this example, the separating rotary body 22 positively peels the recording medium P from the surface of the fixing belt 12 while rotating. As described above, since the external force is exerted on the recording medium P, the recording medium P is not pulled back toward the fixing belt 12 to cause a jam.

As described above, when the recording medium P is fed into the fixing device 2 again, the toner image already fixed is carried on one surface of the recording medium P, as indicated by reference numeral T1 in FIG. The unfixed toner image T is carried on the other surface. When the toner image T1 and the recording medium P carrying the unfixed toner image T pass through the nip portion N of the fixing device 2, the toner image T1 comes into contact with the surface of the pressure roller 13, and at this time, the toner image T1. When is heated and melted, the toner of the toner image T1 acts as an adhesive, and the recording medium may adhere to the surface of the pressure roller 13 and wind around it.

Further, as shown in FIG. 9, a toner image T is transferred from an unillustrated photoreceptor to an intermediate transfer member 24 rotating in the direction of arrow G, and heated by an internal heater 16B to move in the direction of arrow H. The recording medium P is passed through the nip portion N between the fixing member composed of the fixing roller 12B that rotates in the vertical direction and the intermediate transfer body 24. At this time, the toner image T on the intermediate transfer body 24 is transferred onto the recording medium P by the action of heat and pressure. An image forming apparatus that transfers the toner image onto the recording medium P and fixes the toner image on the recording medium P is also known. In this case, the fixing roller 12B constitutes one fixing member, and the intermediate transfer member 24 also serves as the other fixing member. Even in the case of such a fixing device, the fixing member composed of the intermediate transfer member 24 is also used. Separation rotor 2 facing each other
By providing 2, the recording medium P can be prevented from being wound around the intermediate transfer body 24.

As described above, the separating rotary member can be applied to the fixing device having various configurations. The point is that the separating rotary member faces at least one fixing member and separates the recording medium attached to the fixing member. Is provided, and the surface of the separation rotary body at the facing portion of the separation rotary body and the fixing member facing the separation rotary body is
By rotating and driving the separation rotating body in the direction opposite to the moving direction of the surface of the fixing member, it is possible to prevent the recording medium from winding around the fixing member and causing a jam.

By the way, in each of the examples described above, the separating rotary member may be brought into contact with the surface of the fixing member. However, with such a structure, the separating rotary member and the fixing member move in opposite directions at their facing portions. Therefore, the surface of the fixing member is scratched by the separating rotary member and may be broken when the fixing member is used for a long time. Further, when the fixing member is scratched, there is a possibility that toner adheres to the fixing member and is fixed, or that the toner adhered on the fixing member is transferred onto the recording medium and disturbs the image.

Therefore, in the fixing device of each of the above-described examples, the distance between the separating rotary member and the fixing member facing each other is 0.
There is a gap of 1 mm to 1 mm. FIG. 6 shows FIG.
As shown in the drawing, a gap δ of 0.1 to 1 mm is provided between the fixing member composed of the fixing belt 12 and the separating rotary member 22. According to this structure, it is possible to prevent the trouble that the surface of the fixing belt 12 is damaged by the contact of the separating rotary member 22 with the surface thereof.

When the gap δ is opened between the separating rotary member 22 and the fixing belt 12 as described above, the tip of the recording medium P attached to the surface of the fixing belt 12 has the gap δ.
It is also possible to dive into. However, the separation rotor 2
Since No. 2 rotates in the direction to pull out the recording medium P from the gap δ, even if the leading end of the recording medium enters the gap δ, the recording medium is immediately pulled out from the gap δ by the rotating rotating rotating body 22. Thus, the recording medium P is prevented from winding around the surface of the fixing belt 12. For example, a large amount of toner is present in the widthwise central portion of the recording medium P, and the adhesive force of the toner causes the recording medium P exiting the nip portion N to adhere strongly to the fixing belt 12, and thus the widthwise central portion of the recording medium P. Even if the front end sunk into the gap δ as shown by the chain line in FIG. 5, the plurality of separating rotary bodies 22 apply an external force to the recording medium P in the direction in which the front end is pulled out from the gap δ, and the recording medium P The front end of the central portion of is fixed to the surface of the fixing belt 12. As a result, the recording medium P is conveyed without wrapping around the surface of the fixing belt 12 as shown in FIGS.

A fixing device has been proposed in which a separation sheet made of a thin sheet is provided in proximity to the surface of the fixing member in a non-contact state, and the recording medium adhered to the surface of the fixing member is separated by the separation sheet. If the sheets are placed opposite to each other with a gap of about 0.1 to 1 mm from the surface of the fixing member, the separation sheet will bend slightly, so it is not possible to maintain the gap at a constant size over the entire length of the separation sheet. Have difficulty. On the other hand, in the fixing device of this example, since the plurality of separating rotary bodies 22 are supported by the common shaft 23, all the separating rotary bodies 22 are opposed to the surface of the fixing member with a predetermined gap δ. Can be placed.

By the way, the rotational speed of the separating rotary member 22 can be set as appropriate, but the magnitude of the radial outermost linear velocity of the separating rotary member and the surface linear velocity of the fixing member facing this separating rotary member. If the size of the recording medium is significantly different, the recording medium is conveyed at substantially the surface linear velocity of the fixing member, so that the surface linear velocity of the separating rotary member and the conveying speed of the recording medium are greatly different. When the recording medium moves while being in contact with the separating rotary member, a streak-like mark is formed on the toner image on the recording medium due to the contact of the separating rotary member, and the image quality thereof may deteriorate.

Therefore, in the fixing device of each of the above-described examples, the magnitude of the linear velocity at the outermost radial direction of the separating rotary member and the magnitude of the surface linear velocity of the fixing member facing this are substantially equal to each other. , The rotation speed of the separation rotor is set. More specifically, the separation rotary body 2 shown in FIG.
When the magnitude of the linear velocity at the outermost portion in the radial direction of 2 is V1 and the magnitude of the surface linear velocity of the fixing belt 12 is V2, V1 and V2 are substantially equal to each other, preferably V1 = V2 The rotator 22 is driven to rotate. As a result, the speed difference between the outermost part of the separating rotary member 22 and the recording medium P contacting the separating rotary member 22 is eliminated, or the difference becomes extremely small. It is possible to prevent the generation of streak-like marks on the toner image because the scraping force is not applied. This also applies to the fixing devices of other examples.

Although the surface of the separating rotary member may be smooth, if the surface of the separating rotary member is uneven as in the separating rotary member of each of the above-described examples, the recording medium is attached to the separating rotary member. When contacting, only the convex and concave portions on the surface of the separating rotor contact the toner image on the recording medium, so even if the contact makes a mark on the toner image, the mark is not noticeable and is ignored. It is possible to prevent the deterioration of the image quality.

Further, as can be seen from FIG. 3, the separation rotary member 2
When unevenness is formed on the surface of No. 2, the tip of the recording medium P engages with the unevenness, so that the separating rotary body 22 enhances the action of peeling the recording medium from the fixing belt 12, and the separating rotary body is separated. The function is further improved.
