Abstract

(57)【要約】 【課題】 サイズアップを防止するためにかしめ代を設
けることなく、また、組付コストを減少するために加圧
専用装置を廃止しても、樹脂ケース1およびベース2よ
りなる2部品の圧入面14、24で溶着固定する。 【解決手段】 樹脂ケース1の側壁部11とベース2の
蓋体部21との溶着したい面を圧入形状とすることによ
り、従来の重ね合わせレーザー溶着方法では必要であっ
た、樹脂材よりなる2部品の隙間をなくすための加圧専
用装置を不要とすることができる。そして、樹脂ケース
1の側壁部11の開口部12側の圧入面14に向かって
ベース2の蓋体部21の図示上端面の外周側縁よりレー
ザー光を斜めから照射させることで、樹脂ケース1の側
壁部11の圧入面14およびベース2の蓋体部21の角
筒状の圧入面24での溶着固定が可能となる。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【0001】
【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、樹脂材で成形され
た2部品の突き合わせ部に向かってレーザー光を照射し
て溶着固定するようにした突き合わせレーザー溶着方法
に関するものである。
【0002】
【従来の技術】従来より、樹脂部品の固定方法として
は、図7に示したように、開口部101を有する有底筒
状の外装部品102内に内装部品103を挿入し、外装
部品102のかしめ代(固定代)104を熱かしめする
ことで、樹脂材で成形された2部品を固定する熱かしめ
固定方法が知られている。また、図8に示したように、
有底筒状の外装部品102の開口部101に内装部品1
03を挿入して溶着固定したい合わせ面同士を高さ方向
に重ね合わせ、外装部品102と内装部品103との重
ね合わせ部106にレーザー光を照射することで、樹脂
材で成形された2部品を溶着固定する重ね合わせレーザ
ー溶着方法が知られている。なお、この重ね合わせレー
ザー溶着方法においては、外装部品102と内装部品1
03との重ね合わせ部106の隙間をなくすために加圧
専用装置105を必要としている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】ところが、従来の樹脂
部品の熱かしめ固定方法においては、外装部品102の
幅方向寸法(w)がサイズアップすることはないが、外
装部品102の開口部101側の熱かしめ部に必ずかし
め代104を設ける必要があり、そのかしめ代104の
板厚分だけ高さ方向寸法がサイズアップ(h<h’)と
なるという問題が生じていた。一方、従来の重ね合わせ
レーザー溶着方法においては、外装部品102と内装部
品103とを重ね合わせ、外装部品102と内装部品1
03との重ね合わせ部106にレーザー光を照射して溶
着固定している。
【0004】この従来の重ね合わせレーザー溶着方法で
は、外装部品102の高さ方向寸法(h)がサイズアッ
プすることはないが、重ね合わせ代を設ける必要があ
り、幅方向寸法がサイズアップ(w<w’)となるとい
う問題が生じていた。また、外装部品102と内装部品
103とを重ね合わせた後に、レーザー溶着方法を用い
て溶着固定する場合には、重ね合わせ部106の合わせ
面に所定値以上の高さ方向の隙間が生じると、外装部品
102と内装部品103とを確実に溶着固定できないた
め、加圧専用装置105を用いて加圧して合わせ面に隙
間が生じないようにする必要があった。したがって、加
圧専用装置105が必要となり、組付コストが高くなる
という問題が生じていた。

【発明の目的】本発明は、サイズアップを防止するため
にかしめ代または重ね合わせ代を設けることなく、ま
た、組付コストを減少するために加圧専用装置を廃止す
ることのできる突き合わせレーザー溶着方法の提供を目
的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】請求項1に記載の発明に
よれば、樹脂材で成形された外装部品の開口部に、樹脂
材で成形された内装部品を圧入して外装部品および内装
部品よりなる2部品の溶着固定したい面同士を突き合わ
せることにより、2部品の突き合わせ部に向かってレー
ザー光を照射して溶着固定する(突き合わせレーザー溶
着方法)ことができる。また、従来の重ね合わせレーザ
ー溶着方法では必要であった2部品の合わせ面の隙間を
なくすための加圧専用装置を無用とすることができる。
さらに、かしめ代や重ね合わせ部を必要としないので、
高さ方向寸法や幅方向寸法のサイズアップを防止するこ
とができる。
【0007】請求項2ないし請求項4に記載の発明によ
れば、内装部品側より2部品の突き合わせ部に向かって
レーザー光を当てると、内装部品には所定値以上の透過
率を持たせているため、レーザー光は、内装部品を透過
していき外装部品の突き合わせ部にまでレーザー光が到
達する。そして、レーザー光が外装部品に到達すると、
外装部品には所定値以下の透過率を持たせているため、
レーザー光を吸収し発熱が起こり溶け出す。この外装部
品の突き合わせ部に発生した発熱が、外装部品と接して
いる内装部品の突き合わせ部へも伝わり、内装部品の突
き合わせ部も溶け出す。発熱が収まると、溶け出した部
分が再凝固を行い、2部品の突き合わせ部が溶着固定さ
れる。

【発明の実施の形態】[実施例の構成]発明の実施の形
態を実施例に基づき図面を参照して説明する。ここで、
図1は自動車等の車両に搭載される機能部品の主要部を
示した図で、図2は機能部品の概略構成を示した図であ
る。
【0009】本実施例の機能部品は、例えば自動車等の
車両が物体に衝突したことを検知する衝突検知センサ等
のセンサ部品であり、第1樹脂材により一体成形された
第1樹脂成形品である樹脂ケース1と、第2樹脂材によ
り一体成形された第2樹脂成形品であるベース2と、樹
脂ケース1とベース2との間に形成される内部空間3に
収容された電気部品または電子部品(図示せず)とから
構成され、レーザー光を照射することで樹脂ケース1お
よびベース2よりなる樹脂材の2部品をレーザー溶着固
定している。なお、レーザー溶着固定とは、高エネルギ
ー密度に集光された単一波長のビームを利用して樹脂材
よりなる2部品を溶着固定する溶着固定方法で、半導体
レーザーやYAGレーザーやCO2 レーザー等のレーザ
ー発振器からのレーザー光(レーザービーム)を使用す
る。
【0010】樹脂ケース1は、本発明の外装部品に相当
するもので、例えば熱可塑性ポリエステル樹脂(PB
T)または熱可塑性ポリアミド樹脂(PA)等の第1樹
脂材により容器形状(有底筒状)に一体成形された第1
樹脂部品である。この樹脂ケース1は、高さ方向寸法が
hで、且つ幅方向寸法がwの有底筒状に形成されて、角
筒状の側壁部11の一端側に矩形状または方形状の開口
部12を有し、且つ側壁部11の他端に矩形状または方
形状の底壁部13を有している。なお、樹脂ケース1の
側壁部11の開口部12側の内壁面には、ベース2を溶
着固定するための角筒状の圧入面(突き合わせ部)14
が設けられている。
【0011】ベース2は、例えば熱可塑性ポリエステル
樹脂(PBT)または熱可塑性ポリアミド樹脂(PA)
等の第2樹脂材により一体成形された第2樹脂部品であ
る。このベース2は、樹脂ケース1の開口部12側の圧
入面14に圧入される矩形状または方形状の蓋体部2
1、およびこの蓋体部21の内側面より図示下方に延長
されて樹脂ケース1の底壁部13の底壁面に当接する突
起部22を有している。なお、ベース2の蓋体部21の
外周面には、樹脂ケース1の圧入面14に突き合わせら
れて溶着固定される角筒状の圧入面(突き合わせ部)2
4が設けられている。
【0012】[実施例の突き合わせレーザー溶着方法]
次に、本実施例の突き合わせレーザー溶着方法を図1な
いし図4に基づいて簡単に説明する。ここで、図3およ
び図4は突き合わせレーザー溶着方法の一例を示した図
である。
【0013】ここで、本実施例では、樹脂ケース1およ
びベース2よりなる2部品の溶着固定したい面(圧入
面)14、24を圧入寸法形状としている。例えば樹脂
ケース1の圧入面14のうちの一面の幅方向寸法をl’
とし、ベース2の圧入面24のうちの一面の幅方向寸法
をlとしたときに、l’≦lの関係となるように設けら
れている。また、樹脂ケース1の第1樹脂材とベース2
の第2樹脂材には、それぞれ異なる透過率(レーザー光
の透過度合)を持たせているため、レーザー光がベース
2の第2樹脂材を透過していき、樹脂ケース1の第1樹
脂材にまでレーザー光が到達する構造としている。
【0014】先ず、2部品の圧入固定工程では、作業者
が、図2に示したように、容器形状(有底筒状)の樹脂
ケース1の側壁部11の開口部12側の角筒状の圧入面
14に、第2樹脂材よりなるベース2の矩形状または方
形状の蓋体部21の角筒状の圧入面24を圧入する。こ
のとき、樹脂ケース1の側壁部11の一端側の弾性変形
力によって、樹脂ケース1の圧入面14にベース2の圧
入面24が突き合わせ状態で、樹脂ケース1内にベース
2が仮固定される。また、ベース2は、樹脂ケース1の
底壁部13の底壁面に突起部22が当接するまで圧入さ
れて位置決めされるので、ベース2の圧入面24の高さ
方向の位置は側壁部11の高さ方向に対して常に一定と
なる。
【0015】次に、レーザー溶着固定工程では、図3お
よび図4に示したように、圧入面14に向かってレーザ
ー光(レーザービーム)を、圧入面14の図示下端から
図示上端に至るまで斜めから照射(レーザー照射)し、
これを樹脂ケース1の角筒状の側壁部11の角筒状の圧
入面14(ベース2の蓋体部21の角筒状の圧入面2
4)の全周に渡って行うことで、樹脂ケース1およびベ
ース2よりなる樹脂材の2部品の突き合わせレーザー溶
着を行う。このとき、樹脂ケース1とベース2の樹脂材
には、それぞれ異なる透過率を持たせている。ベース2
の蓋体部21の図示上端面の外周側縁よりレーザー光を
当てると、ベース2を構成する第2樹脂材には、第1樹
脂材よりも良好な所定値以上の透過率を持たせているた
め、レーザー光は、ベース2の第2樹脂材を透過してい
き、樹脂ケース1の開口部12側の圧入面14の第1樹
脂材にレーザー光が到達する。
【0016】そして、レーザー光が樹脂ケース1の開口
部12側の圧入面14に到達すると、樹脂ケース1を構
成する第1樹脂材には、第2樹脂材よりも悪い所定値以
下の透過率を持たせているため、レーザー光を吸収し発
熱が起こり溶け出す。この発生した発熱が、樹脂ケース
1の側壁部11の圧入面14と当接しているベース2の
蓋体部21の角筒状の圧入面24の第2樹脂材へも伝わ
り、ベース2の第2樹脂材も溶け出す。発熱が収まる
と、溶け出した部分(図1および図3において図示一点
鎖線で囲まれた部分)が再凝固を行う。このレーザー溶
着固定工程において、図1に示したように、樹脂ケース
1の側壁部11の開口部12側の内壁面とベース2の蓋
体部21の外周面との溶着固定がなされる。
【0017】[実施例の効果]以上のように、本実施例
の樹脂ケース1およびベース2等よりなる機能部品にお
いては、樹脂ケース1の側壁部11とベース2の蓋体部
21との溶着したい面(圧入面14、24)を全周圧入
形状とすることにより、従来の重ね合わせレーザー溶着
方法では必要であった、樹脂材よりなる2部品の隙間を
なくすための加圧専用装置を不要とすることができる。
【0018】そして、樹脂ケース1およびベース2より
なる2部品の角筒状の圧入面14、24同士を突き合わ
せた後に、樹脂ケース1の側壁部11の開口部12側の
圧入面14に向かってベース2の蓋体部21の図示上端
面の外周側縁よりレーザー光を斜めから照射(レーザー
照射)させる突き合わせレーザー溶着方法を行うことに
より、樹脂ケース1の側壁部11の圧入面14およびベ
ース2の蓋体部21の角筒状の圧入面24での溶着固定
が可能となる。また、従来の技術では必要であったかし
め代(固定代)または重ね合わせ代を設ける必要がな
く、完成品の機能部品の幅方向寸法(w)および高さ方
向寸法(h)のサイズアップを防止することができる。
【0019】[変形例]本実施例では、樹脂ケース1を
構成する第1樹脂材に、第2樹脂材よりも悪い所定値以
下の透過率を持たせ、ベース2の第2樹脂材に、第1樹
脂材よりも良好な所定値以上の透過率を持たせて、図3
および図4に示したように、樹脂ケース1の側壁部11
の開口部12側の圧入面14に向かってベース2の蓋体
部21側よりレーザー光を斜めに当てて樹脂材よりなる
2部品の溶着固定を行うようにしているが、樹脂ケース
1を構成する第1樹脂材に、第2樹脂材よりも良好な所
定値以上の透過率を持たせ、ベース2の第2樹脂材に、
第1樹脂材よりも悪い所定値以下の透過率を持たせて、
図5および図6に示したように、ベース2の蓋体部21
の外周の圧入面24に向かって樹脂ケース1の側壁部1
1の外壁面側よりレーザー光を斜めまたは水平方向に当
てて樹脂材よりなる2部品の溶着固定を行うようにして
も良い。
【0020】本実施例では、樹脂ケース1およびベース
2よりなる2部品の角筒状の圧入面14、24同士を突
き合わせた後に、圧入面14に向かってレーザー光を照
射して、ベース2の蓋体部21の外周全体を樹脂ケース
1の側壁部11に溶着固定したが、樹脂材よりなる2部
品の溶着固定したい部分のみ部分的に圧入して突き合わ
せた後に、圧入面に向かってレーザー光を照射して、樹
脂材よりなる2部品を部分的に溶着固定するようにして
も良い。また、本実施例では、外装部品として容器形状
または有底筒状の樹脂ケース1を用いた例を説明した
が、外装部品として枠状または底無しの筒状の樹脂成形
品を用いても良い。さらに、本実施例では、内装部品と
して略T字状の断面を有するベース2を用いた例を説明
したが、内装部品として略環板状の樹脂成形品を用いて
も良い。
【0021】本実施例では、樹脂ケース(外装部品)1
の開口形状を正方形状とし、ベース2の蓋体部21(内
装部品)の外形形状も正方形状としたが、外装部品の開
口形状および内装部品の外形形状として、円形状、楕円
形状、三角形状、長方形状、台形状、菱形形状、四角形
状または五角形以上の多角形状を用いても良い。また、
外装部品の開口形状と内装部品の外形形状との組み合わ
せも、上記の形状のどの組み合わせを用いても良い。例
えば外装部品の開口形状を正方形状または長方形状と
し、内装部品の外形形状を円形状または五角形以上の多
角形状または長円形状または楕円形状としても良い。あ
るいは、外装部品の開口形状を円形状または五角形以上
の多角形状または長円形状または楕円形状とし、内装部
品の外形形状を正方形状または長方形状としても良い。
これらの場合には、樹脂材よりなる2部品の溶着固定し
たい部分のみ部分的に圧入して突き合わせた後に、圧入
面に向かってレーザー光を照射して、樹脂材よりなる2
部品を部分的に溶着固定される。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】樹脂材で成形された外装部品の開口部に、
    樹脂材で成形された内装部品を圧入して前記外装部品お
    よび前記内装部品よりなる2部品の溶着固定したい面同
    士を突き合わせ、 前記2部品の突き合わせ部に向かってレーザー光を照射
    して溶着固定することを特徴とする突き合わせレーザー
    溶着方法。
  2. 【請求項2】請求項1に記載の突き合わせレーザー溶着
    方法において、 前記外装部品を成形する樹脂材および前記内装部品を成
    形する樹脂材には、それぞれ異なる透過率を持たせたこ
    とを特徴とする突き合わせレーザー溶着方法。
  3. 【請求項3】請求項2に記載の突き合わせレーザー溶着
    方法において、 レーザー光を当てる側の前記内装部品を成形する樹脂材
    には、前記外装部品を成形する樹脂材よりも大きい所定
    値以上の透過率を持たせたことを特徴とする突き合わせ
    レーザー溶着方法。
  4. 【請求項4】請求項2に記載の突き合わせレーザー溶着
    方法において、 レーザー光が到達する側の前記外装部品を成形する樹脂
    材には、前記内装部品を成形する樹脂材よりも小さい所
    定値以下の透過率を持たせたことを特徴とする突き合わ
    せレーザー溶着方法。
