However, polycrystalline silicon TFTs are
There is a problem that the operating frequency is as low as about one-tenth of that of an LSI formed of single crystal silicon. While single crystal silicon operates up to several tens of MHz, polycrystalline silicon has an operation frequency of less than 10 MHz. At this operating frequency, a video signal supplied from a monitor or a TV cannot be processed as it is.

Means of mounting by COG (Chip / On / Glass) and supplying from outside are used. Recently, in order to reduce the number of source drivers, a liquid crystal display device in which a circuit called a multiplexer is formed on the same glass substrate as pixels has been developed. A multiplexer is a circuit characterized in that a plurality of signal electrodes are provided for one output of a source driver and a plurality of pixels can be driven by one output of the source driver by switching with a switch.

In this configuration, all the drive signals required for the gate driver 1, source driver 2 and multiplexer 3 can be supplied via the source driver 2 only by TAB mounting. Further, by supplying separate signals of the gate driver drive signal 10 and the multiplexer drive signal 12 to the through electrodes of the two regions provided in the TCP of the source driver 2, various types of signals are provided on the glass substrate of the polycrystalline silicon liquid crystal panel 14. Wiring can be performed without crossing signal lines. In the present invention, it goes without saying that the same effect can be obtained in a liquid crystal display device that supplies a scanning signal from both sides.
