Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weather strip capable of easily pinching a U-shape welt without hindering appearance when plate thickness of a car body flange is partially formed thick. SOLUTION: The weather strip 1 is provided in the U-shape welt 2 for pinching a car body flange F to cover an end of an interior material 9 with a decorative lip 7. A base end 7a of the decorative lip 7 is fitted to a nearly central part of a bottom part 2a of the welt 2, and when pinching with the welt 2, a side wall 4 inside of the car is opened to pinch a partially thick part of the car body flange F.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a weather strip in which decorative lips are provided on a welt sandwiched between vehicle body flanges.

2. Description of the Related Art As shown in FIG. 2, a weatherslip 10 for sandwiching a welt 2 having a U-shaped cross section and a core metal 3 embedded in a flange F of an opening edge of a vehicle body of an automobile door D is attached to the door D when closed. A hollow lip 11 is provided for elastic contact, and a decorative lip 11 for covering an end of the interior material 9 is provided.

However, there is a tendency that the vehicle body is partially reinforced in order to enhance safety in recent years, and the plate thickness of the flange F is also partially increased.
When attaching the weather strip 10 to this portion, it was difficult to clamp the welt 2. As a countermeasure, conventionally, as shown in FIG. 3 (a), the locking claw 6 of the welt 2 is partially cut in a hatched portion so that it can be easily clamped to a thick portion of the flange F. Even when the inner side wall 4 is opened as described above, the decorative lip 7 is attached to substantially the center of the bottom 2a of the welt 2 which is not affected by the movement of the inner side wall 4, so that the original proper position is maintained and the appearance is maintained. According to the weather strip of the present invention, since the decorative lip is attached substantially at the center of the bottom of the welt, it is easy to open the inner side wall of the welt even if the reinforcing body flange is partially thickened. And has the advantage that the appearance is not impaired unlike the related art.

Claims (1)

[Claims] 1. A weather strip provided on a U-shaped welt sandwiched by a vehicle body flange so as to cover an end of an interior material with a decorative lip, wherein the decorative lip has a base end substantially at the center of a bottom of the welt. A weather strip which is attached and has an inner side wall opened and pinched at a partially thick portion of a vehicle body flange when pinching a welt.
