The opposing substrate 4 is a member that seals the liquid crystal together with the substrate 3. As shown in FIG. 5, one side is cut out so that the transparent electrode forming surface of the substrate 3 is exposed when the opposing substrate 4 is covered with the substrate 3. At both ends, ear portions 42 are formed. That is, as shown in FIG. 6, the electrode forming portion of the flexible substrate 5 is joined to the edge of the substrate 3 whose surface is exposed by the notch 41, and the electrode pattern is electrically connected to the transparent electrode of the substrate 3. . The ear part 42 is a flexible board 5
Is bonded so as to prevent the edge of the substrate 3 from being broken when the substrate 3 is pressure-bonded to the substrate 3. By preventing the edge of the substrate 3 from being broken, the transparent electrode of ITO can be prevented from being broken. Further, the substrate 3 is pressed by pressure when the polarizing plate 1 is attached.
It also has the effect of preventing breakage.

However, as shown in FIG. 6, the ear 42 has a uniform width dimension (dimension in the horizontal direction in FIG. 6) parallel to the outer shape of the counter substrate 4. On the other hand, since the edges of the flexible substrate 5 are joined between the ears 42 and in the notches 41, if the width of the ears 42 is uniform, the left and right ends of the edges of the flexible substrate 5 And the clearance between the ears 42 is reduced.
Therefore, in order to make the clearance large enough to facilitate mounting of the flexible substrate 5, the substrate 3
In addition, the width of the counter substrate 4 must be increased.
For this reason, it becomes a hindrance to the design for reducing the width dimension of the film liquid crystal module, and there is a problem that the overall size cannot be reduced.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS The invention according to the first aspect of the present invention relates to a polarizing plate, a substrate on which a common or segment wiring pattern is formed and a transparent electrode is formed on an edge surface of one side, and the substrate is backed and joined. A liquid crystal module in which a counter substrate and a semi-transmissive reflective polarizing plate are each made of resin and laminated in order, and a flexible substrate is conductively connected to an edge of the substrate, wherein the counter substrate has an edge of the substrate. A notch exposing the transparent electrode is formed in a portion covering the portion except for both ends in the width direction, and at both ends a lug covering the edge of the substrate is formed, and the lug is formed inside the width direction. A liquid crystal module having a flat shape having a taper extending in the width direction up to the edge of the substrate, wherein the inner side in the width direction of the ear of the opposing substrate extends in the width direction to the edge of the substrate. Since having, an effect that can increase the clearance of the ear portion can be downsized, the entireties by reducing the counter substrate enables mounting of the flexible substrate for a flexible substrate to be bonded to the transparent electrode is inserted into the notch.

The liquid crystal display module according to the embodiment of the present invention comprises a flexible resin polarizing plate 1, a semi-transmissive reflective polarizing plate 2, a substrate 3, a counter substrate 4, and a flexible substrate 5 as in the conventional example. It is a thing. A transparent electrode (not shown) is formed on the substrate 3 to form a common or segment electrode pattern and to conduct to the electrode pattern 5 a of the flexible substrate 5. Liquid crystal is sealed between the substrate 3 and the counter substrate 4. The flexible substrate 5 is provided with an electrode pattern 5a as is well known in the art.
And a driver IC 5b and the like are mounted.

A notch 4a is formed in a portion where the opposing substrate 4 covers the transparent electrode forming surface of the substrate 3 as in the conventional example, and lugs 4b are formed at both ends of the notch 4a. As shown in the enlarged view of FIG. 1, the ear portion 4 b has a tapered shape tapering toward the lower end, so that the insertion margin of the flexible substrate 5 is increased.

In the above configuration, since the lug 4b has a tapered shape, the clearance between the flexible substrate 5 and the lug 4b is larger than in the conventional example. For this reason, in mounting the flexible substrate 5 on the surface of the substrate 3 facing the surface from the notch 4a, mounting is facilitated by utilizing the clearance between the ear 4b. When the width of the flexible substrate 5 is the same as that of the conventional example, even if the width of the substrate 3 and the counter substrate 4 is reduced,
A sufficient clearance can be secured between the ear and the ear 4b. Therefore, the size of the substrate 3 and the counter substrate 4 can be reduced,
Along with this, the polarizing plate 1 and the transflective polarizing plate 2 can also be reduced in size, and the overall size can be reduced. In the conventional example, the width of the substrate 3 and the counter substrate 4 is about 26 mm.
mm could be shortened.

Since the substrate 3 is reinforced by the ears 4b, the substrate 3 can be prevented from being broken when the flexible substrate 5 is pressed and fixed to the substrate 3, and the surface of the substrate 3 covered by the flexible substrate 5 can be prevented. Also, it is possible to prevent the ITO transparent electrode formed on the substrate from being broken. Further, the ear 4b reinforces the substrate 3 against a load when the polarizing plate 1 is attached, so that the substrate 3 can be similarly prevented from being broken.

According to the present invention, since the lugs provided on the opposing substrate are formed in a tapered shape in which the insertion side of the flexible substrate is tapered, the clearance between both ends in the width direction of the flexible substrate can be increased. Even if the size of the substrate is reduced, it is possible to mount the flexible substrate. Therefore, the width of the opposing substrate, the substrate, and the polarizing plate can be reduced, and the size can be reduced as compared with the conventional structure.
