[Claims]
    1. An ink containing a first pigment and a second pigment as a coloring material in a dispersed state in an aqueous medium,
The first pigment is a self-dispersible pigment in which at least one anionic group is bonded directly or via another atomic group to the surface of the first pigment, or at least one cationic group is directly bonded to the surface of the first pigment. Or a self-dispersing pigment bonded to the surface of the first pigment via another atomic group,
The second pigment is a pigment that can be dispersed in the aqueous medium by a polymer dispersant,
The ink further includes at least one of a polymer dispersant having the same polarity as the group bonded to the surface of the first pigment and a nonionic polymer dispersant,
An ink characterized by having one extreme value in the distribution function of the ink particle size x, and the ink particle size at the extreme value is 50 to 300 nm.
    2. An anionic group bonded to the surface of the pigment is -COOM, -SOThreeM, -POThreeHM and -POThreeMTwoThe ink according to claim 1, wherein the at least one anionic group is selected from the group consisting of: wherein M represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal, ammonium or an organic ammonium.
    3. The other atomic group is a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted phenylene group, or a substituted or unsubstituted naphthylene group.Claim 1 or 2The ink according to the above.
    4. 80% or more of the first pigment isParticle size of 50-300nmIsClaims 1 to 3An ink according to any one of
    5. 80% or more of the first pigment is:Particle size of 100-250nmIsAny of claims 1 to 4The ink according to the above.
    6. The second pigment is dispersed by adsorbing a polymer dispersant on its surface.Any of claims 1 to 5The ink according to the above.
    7. The second pigment contains at least two kinds of pigments having different structures.Any one of claims 1 to 6The ink according to the above.
    8. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the first pigment is more than the second pigment.Any one of claims 1 to 7The ink according to the above.
    9. The method according to claim 1, wherein at least one of the first and second pigments is carbon black.Any one of claims 1 to 8The ink according to the above.
    10. The ink further comprises a dye of the same polarity as the group attached to the surface of the first pigment.Any of claims 1 to 9The ink according to the above.
    11. The ink is for ink jet.Any of claims 1 to 10The ink according to the above.
    12. Claim 11An ink cartridge, comprising: an ink storage unit that stores the ink described in (1).
Claim 13 Claim 11A recording unit, comprising: an ink container that stores the ink described in 1); and an inkjet head that discharges the ink.
    14. Claim 11An ink jet recording apparatus, comprising: an ink container that stores the ink described in 1); and a recording head that discharges the ink.
    15. Claim 11An ink jet recording method, comprising the step of discharging the ink described in (1) by an ink jet method.

Although it is not clear why the ink according to the present invention exhibits the various effects described above, the particle diameter of the first pigment and the particle diameter of the second pigment are relatively close to each other. It is considered that the interaction between the first pigment and the second pigment occurs more efficiently. Further, by setting the extreme value of the ink particle diameter in the range of 50 to 300 nm, minute pigment particles which may lower the optical density and large pigment particles which may lower the ejection stability may be used in the ink. It can be considered that it can be substantially excluded from
