運動感知自転車安全燈及びその使用方法
発明の分野
本発明は、運動感知スイッチを利用しまた自転車又は車椅子の車輪に取付ける
ようになっている自転車、車椅子その他に用いるための運動感知自転車安全燈に
関する。本発明はまたこの自転車安全燈を使用する方法に関する。
発明の背景
様々な型の運動感知スイッチが何年かにわたって提案されてきた。いくつかの
型においては、ボール又はピストンがシリンダー状のケーシングの内部で動く。
1つの型では磁性材料のボールが非磁性ケーシングの中の円筒状通路の内部に保
持され前記通路に直角なケーシング内に位置する永久棒磁石により接点から移動
される。衝突時ボールは接点へと推進されスイッチを閉じる。これに代え、単一
の接点と1つの伝導体とがまた用いられスイッチを閉じるようにする。
もう1つの型では、鋼のボールが裏返しされた回路板に当接して保持されこの
回路板を通ってリード線が回路板の反対側側面上の大きな磁石の存在により延び
ている。衝撃や振動があると、鋼のボールはケーシングを通って回路板から離れ
るよう動き、接点から離れ警報を発する。
さらに他の型では、非磁性の導電性ボールが非伝導性の磁気流体で充たされた
非磁性−非伝導性のケーシングの内部に浮かびまた接点がケーシングの一端に突
出している。永久磁石がケーシングの一
端又は両端に配設され又は円筒状の中空磁石が錘と接点とを収容する領域を含む
ケーシングを取巻く。センサーが取付けられる自動車の衝撃により錘は接点に当
接し、回路を閉じ例えばエアバッグを作動させる。
他の型では、可動永久磁石が非磁性ケーシングの中の磁石ヨーク(継鉄)によ
って所定位置に保持される。運動により磁石はケースの表面を打ち、形成された
磁気回路を乱し、リードスイッチをオン位置からオフ位置に切換える。提案され
た用途は地震又はエレベーターの負荷の検知を含んでいる。
さらに他の型では、永久磁石が伝導性の銅合金ハウジングの中の導電性覆いの
中に収容されリング形状の吸引器とコイル、すなわちブレーキ力によりオフ位置
に保持される。例えば自動車の衝突時、磁石はブレーキ力から離れるよう動き、
導体と接触し、そして回路を閉じる。
さらにまた他の型では、装置の中央部分に配置された磁化された震動ピストン
が磁性歯状突起の大部分における反撥力によって非作動状態に保持されている。
慣性力又は衝撃により、ピストンが動きプラグに当接して保持され接点を介して
閉じた回路を形成しそして例えば自動車衝突時の点火遮断スイッチとして作用す
る。
さらに座席の反対側に位置する磁石によりピストン座部に対して付勢される球
状ピストンが記載されている。衝突時ピストンは好ましくは減衰流体を介して動
き衝突接点により回路を閉じるようにする。他の型の装置では接点を担持する可
動の重さがかけられた部材がスプリングによりオフ位置に保持される。加速又は
減速による錘の運動は錘を動かし、錘を静止接点に当接するように持って来る。
異なった型の装置では、実質的に平衡された物体が軸線の周りに回動運動する
よう取付けられ一対の電気接点が軸線の周りに回動す
るよう設けられる。一対の接点がその少なくとも一方が物体の回動運動の通路上
に位置するようにして設けられる。起電力の供給源と照明手段とが接点手段に接
続され、接点手段は平衡された物体の角加速の発生時にのみ閉じ照明手段を点燈
する。
他の型の装置では、ハウジングが動力源と電気接続可能な光源とを支持する。
運動スイッチがハウジング部材の運動に応じて用いた位置と閉じた位置との間で
切換わる。このスイッチは回動自在に支持された部材、弾性部材、又は可動(ボ
ール軸受)部材とすることができる。コイルの内部に摺動自在に位置する磁石部
材又は圧電発生電源が動力源とスイッチの両方の作用をする。他の装置では、履
物又は着物と共に用いるリードスイッチが、磁石によりリードスイッチが閉じる
オン位置と磁石がリードスイッチを開くオフ位置との間を慣性力のもとに移動可
能な磁石により作動される。磁石は圧縮スプリング、磁石又は空気式駆動によっ
てオフ位置に付勢される。
様々な装置が自転車安全燈として用いるため提案されてきた。ある型の装置は
自転車の車輪スポークに固定された懐中電燈である。この懐中電燈はスポークに
取付けられたブラケットに固定されそれにより光が半径方向外側に向けられるよ
うにする。自転車の車輪のスポークにからみ合わせバッテリーに接続されトグル
スイッチによりオンとオフに選択的に切換えられる一連のランプの使用が提案さ
れている。他の型は自転車の車輪のスポークに取付けられた透明チューブの中に
一連の発光ダイオード(LED's)を設け、バッテリー電源パックが車輪の車軸に取
付けられLED'sに電気的に接続されている。
また他の装置では、信号燈が自転車の車輪に設けられバッテリーが自転車のフ
レームに固定されている。伝導性プレートが車輪ハブの非伝導性円板に取付けら
れる。ブラシが、車輪がスプリングをブ
ラシに向って付勢し電気回路を維持することにより回転した時伝導プレートとで
電気的接続を形成する。
他の自転車ランプは、自転車の車輪に取付けられたランプとバッテリーを収容
する屈折性のハウジングと、点滅手段を含み光源を間けつ的に点滅させる回路と
、点滅手段を作動させる水銀スイッチのような運動センサーとを有している。
自転車の車輪のスポーク上で用いる携帯可能なランプ及び反射器においては、
遠心スイッチが用いられ光源と電源との間の電気回路を完成する。この遠心スイ
ッチは実際上機械的であり、支柱に接触して回路を完成し遠心力を受けた時ラン
プを点燈する錘を有している。
自転車の車輪のスポークに連結されるようになっているランプにおいては、ラ
ンプのバッテリーは車輪の軸線に対しランプの電球の半径方向内側に向けられて
いる。スイッチばねは通常車輪が回転していない時バッテリーを電球との接触が
外れるよう付勢するが、遠心力に応じてバッテリーを電球と電気的に接続するよ
う付勢する。
安全自転車燈では、取付け本体が自転車車輪空気弁の雄ねじに螺合するように
なっている。電球とバッテリーとスイッチとを有する安全燈本体が取付け本体の
中に嵌め込まれる。取付け本体の空気弁への螺合はスイッチを作動し電球をオン
にする。
発明の概要
本発明は1つの形態において、自転車又は車椅子の車輪に取付けるようになっ
ている運動感知安全燈を提供し、この安全燈は、
(a)運動感知スイッチであって、
(i)内部に空間を有し内壁と外壁とを有する中空ケーシングを形成する非
磁性ケーシングと、
(ii)ケーシングの内部に収容された磁性体であって、該磁性体がケーシン
グの長さ方向に沿って移動できるような大きさを有しまたその少なくとも表面が
導電性である磁性体と、
(iii)ケーシングの外壁の一部に隣接した少なくとも1つの永久磁石であ
って、実質的に均一な磁界が、前記安全燈の休止時に前記磁性体が位置すること
のできるケーシングの領域のケーシングの内壁の近くに存在するようになってい
る、少なくとも1つの永久磁石と、
(iv)一対の導体であって、その少なくとも一方が、ケーシングの内部に安
全燈の休止時に磁性体から離間して端部部分を有している、一対の導体、
とを具備し、さらに、(1)前記一対の導体の一方の一端部がケーシングの内
部にある時他方の導体がケーシングの外壁と接触し、ケーシングが導電性であり
、(2)スイッチが運動を受けた時磁性体が前記永久磁石の近くのケーシングの
領域から前記導体とケーシングの内壁に又は対の導体に接触するよう動くことが
でき1つの回路を完成する、
運動感知スイッチと、
(b)プラス端子とマイナス端子とを有するバッテリーであって、前記導体の
一方がプラス端子に接続され他方の導体がマイナス端子に接続されている、バッ
テリーと、
(c)第2の対の導体を介して前記バッテリーに接続された光源であって、該
導体の一方がバッテリーのプラス端子に取付けられ該導体の他方がバッテリーの
マイナス端子に取付けられ、第2の対の導体の各々が光源に取付けられている、
光源と、
(d)前記電源を覆う保護光発射端部キャップと、
(e)前記光発射端部キャップから延出する保護カバーであって
、光源とバッテリーと運動感知スイッチとが前記光発射端部キャップと前記保護
カバーとの内部に収容されている、保護カバーと、
(f)前記運動感知安全燈を自転車又は車椅子の車輪に取付ける手段、
とを具備している。
好ましくは保護カバーと端部キャップの開放端部とは円筒状であり、保護カバ
ーの内側部分の端部部分と光発射端部キャップの外側部分とは螺合され組立てを
容易にしまた保護カバーを光発射端部キャップに固定する手段を提供するように
している。
このような運動感知安全燈は容易に製造されまた感度は当業者にとって周知で
あるように球状磁性体の相対的な大きさと円筒状ケーシングの外壁上の1つ又は
複数の磁石の大きさとによって容易に決定することができる。
実質的に均一な磁界は例えば、円筒状である時ケーシングの周りにリング形状
の磁石を設けることにより、又は磁界がケーシングの内部に形成されるケーシン
グの外面に磁石の各部分を設けることにより、得ることができる。このような実
質的に均一な磁界は磁性体を導体から離間して保持し、一般には磁性体を吊り下
げ保持し、すなわちケーシング内部に浮くよう保持する。1つ又は複数の磁石に
よる磁性体の磁気吸着力は好ましくは、回転作用のような適度の遠心力又は安全
燈が自転車の車輪もしくは車椅子の車輪に取付けられた時に受けるような適度の
押出し作用が回路を完成させ安全燈をオンにするに十分であるような強さである
。運動感知燈が休止位置に戻ると、磁性体は導体との接触が断たれる磁界の領域
に戻りそして回路は断たれる。
好ましくは運動感知安全燈は自転車車輪上の空気弁の弁軸に又は自転車車輪も
しくは車椅子の1つもしくは複数のスポークに取付け
られる。
本発明は他の形態において、自転車又は車椅子の車輪に取付けるようになって
いる運動感知安全燈を提供し、この運動感知安全燈は、
(a)第1の導体とこれから延出する第2の導体とを有する光源と
(b)プラス端子とマイナス端子とを有するバッテリーと
(c)運動感知スイッチであって、
(i)貫通穴を有し、内壁及び外壁とその一端の非磁性導体のフランジと該
フランジから離れた端部の近くのケーシングを貫通する窓とを有する中空ケーシ
ングを形成する非磁性で伝導性の細長いケーシングと、
(ii)ケーシング内部に収容された磁性体であって、該磁性体がケーシング
の長さ方向に沿って移動できまたケーシングの横断面積を実質的に充たすような
大きさを有している、磁性体と、
(iii)ケーシングの外壁の一部に当接しフランジに隣接する北極と南極と
を有する少なくとも1つの永久磁石であって、実質的に均一な磁界が、安全燈の
休止時に磁性体が位置することのできるケーシングの領域でケーシングの内壁の
近くに存在するようにしている少なくとも1つの永久磁石、
とを具備している運動感知スイッチと、
(d)貫通穴と、外側部分と、外端部分に形成され切込みを形成する一対の角
度をなす平坦な表面と、切込みの各々の近くを通るポートとを有する非伝導性で
非磁性の細長い内側本体であって、バッテリーが該細長い内側本体の内部に位置
し、運動感知スイッチが細長い内側本体の内部に位置し、ケーシングのフランジ
がバッテリーの一方の端子に当接し、光源の第1の導体が内側本体のポートを通
過し、ケーシングの窓が、第1の導体がケーシングに第2の導体がバッテリーの
他方の端子に接触するよう通過する内側本体のポートとに接触しないような大き
さと形状を有しかつそのように配置されている、非伝導性で非磁性の細長い内側
本体と、
(e)光源の近くの光伝送端部キャップと、
(f)光伝送端部キャップに取付けられ内側本体の長さにわたって実質的に延
びている保護用外側本体と、
(g)運動感知安全燈を自転車又は車椅子の車輪に取付ける手段、
とを具備している。
本発明はまた他の形態において、自転車又は車椅子の車輪に運動感知安全燈を
設ける方法を提供し、この方法は、
(1)少なくとも1つの運動感知安全燈を自転車又は車椅子の少なくとも1つ
の車輪に取付ける段階であって、前記運動感知安全燈が
(a)運動感知スイッチであって、
(i)内部に空間を有し内壁と外壁とを有する中空ケーシングを形成する非
磁性ケーシングと、
(ii)ケーシングに収容された磁性体であって、磁性体がケーシングの長さ
方向に沿って移動できるような大きさを有し少なくともその表面が導電性である
磁性体と、
(iii)ケーシングの外壁の近くの少なくとも1つの永久磁石であって、前
記スイッチが休止している時磁性体が位置することのできるケーシングの領域の
ケーシングの内壁の近くに実質的に均一の磁界が存在するようにしている少なく
とも1つの永久磁石と、
(iv)第1の対の導体であって、その少なくとも一方がスイッチの休止時に
ケーシングの内部に磁石本体から離間して端部部分を
有している第1の対の導体
とを具備し、さらに(1)一方の導体がケーシング内部にある時他方の導体が
ケーシングの外壁と接触し、ケーシングは電導性であり、(2)スイッチが運動
を受けた時、磁性体は磁石に近いケーシングの領域から導体とケーシングの内側
に又は対の導体に接触するよう動くことができ回路を完成するようにしている、
運動感知スイッチと、
(b)プラスの端子とマイナスの端子とを有するバッテリーであって、導体の
一方がプラス端子に接続され導体の他方がマイナス端子に接続されているバッテ
リーと、
(c)第2の対の導体を介してバッテリーに接続された光源であって、一方の
導体がバッテリーのプラス端子に取付けられ他方の導体がバッテリーのマイナス
端子に取付けられ、第2の対の導体の各々が光源に取付けられている、光源と、
(d)光源を覆う保護光発射端部キャップと、
(e)該光発射端部キャップから延出する保護カバーであって、光源とバッテ
リーと運動感知スイッチとが光発射端部キャップと保護カバーの内部に収容され
ている、保護カバー、
とを具備している、運動感知安全燈を車輪に取付ける段階と、
(2)自転車又は車椅子を動かしそれにより車輪が運動感知安全燈を作動させ
るようにする段階、
とを含んでいる。

発明の詳細な記載
図1a,1b及び1cは本発明に有用な運動感知スイッチの断面図である。こ
れらの図において、同一の要素は同一番号で示されている。
図1aにおいて、運動感知スイッチ10aはフランジ13を有する一端部分で終わ
る細長いケーシング12と、鋼や軟鉄のボールのような磁性体14と、永久磁石15と
を具備している。ある場合にはリードワイヤと称される導体16aと16bがフラン
ジ13から離れたケーシング12の端部を通って延びている。
スイッチ10aがオフ位置にある時、磁性体14は永久磁石15によって生じた磁界
により導体16aと16bから離れて保持される。スイッチ10aが遠心作用又は押出
し運動のような運動を受けると、磁性体14は導体16aと16bに当接する位置に動
き、導体16aと16bを仮想線で示すように、ケーシング12の内壁に接触するよう
にする。磁性体14の少なくとも外面又はケーシング12の少なくとも内面が導電性
であり導体16a及び16bとで1つの回路を完成する。磁性体14の導電性は例えば
銅又はアルミニウムで被覆するような公知の方法で高めることができる。同様に
、ケーシング12の内壁は銅もしくはアルミニウムで被覆することができ、又はケ
ーシング12自体を銅、アルミニウムもしくは真ちゅうのような伝導性材料で形成
することができる。
図1bにおいて、運動感知スイッチ10bは導体16bが細長いケーシング12の外
壁に当接する導体16cに置換えられる点を除き運動感知スイッチ10aと同様に構
成される。図1aに示されるように、永
久磁石15が好ましくはフランジ13に当接する。この実施態様では、ケーシング12
は導電性であることが必要であるが磁性体14は導電性である必要はない。ケーシ
ング12の導電性は図1aについて記載されたように達成される。スイッチ10bが
運動を受けると、磁性体14は導体16aに当接する位置に動き、導体16aを仮想線
に示されるように円筒状ケーシング12の内壁と接触するようにし導体16aと16c
とで1つの回路を完成する。
図1cにおいて、運動感知スイッチ10cは2対の導体と、導体16a及び16bと
、導体16d及び16eとで構成される。永久磁石15が細長いケーシング12の長手方
向軸線の中点付近に配置される。したがって、運動感知スイッチが休止している
時、磁性体14は永久磁石15によって形成された磁界の内部のケーシング12の長手
方向の真中付近に位置する。スイッチが運動を受けた時、磁性体14は図1aで導
体16a及び16bについて記載されたように導体16aと16bに又は導体16dと16e
に接触するように動く。運動感知スイッチが受ける運動に依存して、磁性体14は
代わって導体16aと16bと導体16dと16eとに接触しそれにより発光作用を生じ
る。
図1dにおいて、運動感知スイッチ10dは端面図で示され導体16fと16gはケ
ーシング12aの端部を横切って位置している。リング磁石15が導体から離れてケ
ーシング12aを取巻く。スイッチが休止している時、磁性体14は磁石15によって
取巻かれたケーシング12aの領域に位置する。スイッチ10dが運動を受けると、
磁性体14は磁石15によって取巻かれた領域から離れるよう動き導体16fと16gに
接触し、回路の完成ができるようにする。
図1a,1b,1c及び1dに示される各実施態様では、導体は例えばバッテ
リーと発光電球又はLEDのような光源とに接続される。
図2に示される実施態様では、図1aに示されるような運動感知スイッチ10a
が導体16aを介してバッテリー17のプラス端子に接続されまた導体16bを介して
バッテリー17のマイナス端子に接続される。ランプ18が導体19aを介してバッテ
リー17のプラス端子に接続されまた導体19bを介してバッテリー17のマイナス端
子に接続される。
図3,4及び5には、本発明の運動感知燈の好適な実施態様が示されている。
図3の分解図は運動感知燈30の構成要素を示す。図4は非伝導性の内側本体と非
磁性で伝導性の円筒状ケーシングとに取付けられたLEDを示す頂面図である。図
5は運動感知スイッチと内側本体とバッテリーとを示す一部が切欠かれた断面図
である。
運動感知燈30は光源、例えば第1の導体32aと第2の導体32bとを有する光発
射ダイオード(LED)31を含んでいる。光源は回路が閉じられランプがオンされた
時所望の色の光が伝送されるよう選択することができる。非伝導性で非磁性の細
長い内側本体33がこれを貫通する穴34を有し、実質的に円筒形の外側部分35が外
側部分35の長手方向軸線に平行な長手方向溝36とポート38aと38bが貫通する一
対の角度のつけられた平坦な表面37aと37bとを有している。非伝導性で非磁性
の内側本体33は例えばプラスチック、ゴムその他のような当業者にとって公知の
材料から形成することができる。導体32aはポート38aを通り穴34を横切ってま
た図4と5に示されるようにポート38bを通って挿入される。ポート39は内側本
体33の円筒形外側部分35を通って穴34の中へと延出し導体32aは光源31から溝36
とポート39を通り穴34の中へと延出している。
穴42を有する非磁性伝導性の細長いケーシング41において、フランジ43と窓44
が図5に示されるように磁性体45を保持する。止め栓40がケーシング41のフラン
ジ43に設けられ切込み40aが平坦面から
離れた内側本体33の端部部分に設けられ導体32bと窓44とが正しく整列できるよ
うにする。もちろん、止め栓は内側本体に切込みはフランジに設けることができ
る。非磁性伝導性の細長いケーシング41が例えば銅、アルミニウム、真ちゅうそ
の他のような当業者にとって公知の材料から形成することができる。磁性体45は
典型的にはスチールベアリングのような、鋼で形成される。磁性体45の伝導性を
高めるため銅、アルミニウムその他のような金属の被膜を用いることができる。
永久磁石46が窓44の下側でケーシング41を取巻きまた好ましくはフランジ43に
当接する。永久磁石46はまた好ましくは内側本体33の穴34の狭い部分47に当接す
る。バッテリー48は図5に示されるように穴34の内部に位置しマイナス端子49は
ケーシング41のフランジ43に当接しまたプラス端子51、すなわちバッテリー48の
円筒形表面は導体32aが穴34の中に延びる導体32aの端末部分に接触する。
好ましくは、非磁性の保護外側本体52が細長い内側本体33の上に延びている。
保護外側本体52は任意の十分に耐久性のある材料で形成され導体と例えば非磁性
金属、プラスチックその他のような内側本体33の内部に収容されている運動感知
スイッチの他の部分とを保護するようにすることができる。光伝送端部キャップ
53は好ましくは保護外側本体52の一端部に螺着される。Oリング54が好ましくは
外側本体52と端部キャップ53との接合部に設けられシール手段を提供し、また好
ましくは運動感知安全燈を自転車車輪の空気弁の弁桿に取付けるための取付け手
段を提供するねじ部分59が設けられる。光伝送端部部分53はプラスチックのよう
な当業者にとって公知の材料で形成することができ、また着色することができる
。
端部キャップ55は好ましくは保護外側本体52の他端部に螺着され、Oリング56
は好ましくはシール手段を提供し端部キャップ55の穴
58に挿入されるスプリング57はバッテリー48の陰極49とケーシング41のフランジ
43との間の接触を保証する。端部キャップ55は例えば非磁性金属、プラスチック
その他のような当業者にとって公知の適当な材料から形成することができる。
ケーシング41の内部の実質的に均一の磁界は、この磁界がケーシング41の内部
に形成される円筒状ケーシングの周りにリング形状の磁石46を設けることによっ
て得られる。このような実質的に均一の磁界は磁性体45を導体32aから離れて保
持しまた一般に磁性体を吊り下げ保持、すなわち円筒形ケーシング内部に浮かぶ
よう保持する。磁石による磁性体の磁気吸着力は好ましくは、運動感知安全燈が
自転車又は車椅子の動いている車輪に取付けられる時に受けるような適度の遠心
力、又は押出し作用もしくは回転作用が、磁性体45を導体32bとケーシング41の
内壁とに接触させ回路を完成し光源をオンにするのに十分であるような強さであ
る。運動感知安全燈が自転車車輪の空気弁の弁桿に取付けられた時、この安全燈
は、自転車の速度が速かった時車輪リムの内側に光の輪が得られたのを明らかに
するに十分となっている。運動感知安全燈が休止位置に戻ると、磁性体は磁界の
領域に戻り、回路は開かれ光源はオフとなる。
実施例
本発明の目的と利点はさらに以下の実施例によって示されるが、これら実施例
に記載されている特定の材料と寸法は、他の細部と共に、本発明を不当に限定す
る意味に解すべきではない。この実施例では、運動感知燈は図3,4及び5に示
されるように形成された。
内径が約8.00mm(0.315インチ)、外径が約8.71mm(0.343インチ)、長さが約13.4
6mm(0.53インチ)で、フランジがその外径が約10.80mm(0.425インチ)で厚さが約1
.27mm(0.050インチ)の、真ちゅ
うの円筒状ケーシングが用いられた。このケーシングの窓は約3.05mm(0.120イン
チ)のケーシングの長手方向軸線に平行な高さと約7.62mm(0.300インチ)の幅とを
有する楕円形状であった。
