Suspension crystallization method
The present invention relates to an organic compound which can be crystallized from a liquid compound mixture by suspension crystallization.
And a method for separating the same.
Organic compounds are generally obtained in the form of compound mixtures based on their synthesis methods,
Is the desired organic compound in addition to a substantial or major proportion of e.g. solvent, starting compound
Products, by-products and / or isomers of organic compounds. In many cases,
Organic compounds can be separated from the mixture by crystallization. Many crystallizable organic compounds
Is characterized by the low solid phase solubility of foreign substances, and crystallization is often a separation option.
It becomes a step.
The general methods of the prior art are, in particular, crystallization from solution or from the compound mixture itself.
Static crystallization, where the compound to be isolated is deposited on an immobilized cooling surface and then
To separate from the mother liquor and melt again.
Both crystallization methods require high energy use. Because cooling for crystallization
And the material to be reheated is much higher than the original reactant to be separated
It is.
Generally crystallized with better energy and better separation effect than static crystallization method
The so-called U.S. Pat. No. 3,777,899 relates to the separation and remelting of the crystalline phase.
No. 2 and US-A 3,872,009
It can be performed in suspension.
Basically, this type of suspension crystallization is used, for example, to remove water from food liquids.
US-A 4,004,886 and US-A 4,316,3 especially for aqueous systems.
No. 68, US Pat. No. 4,430,104 and US Pat. No. 4,459,144.
No. 1 is known. Furthermore, according to US-A 4 787 985, multi-stage
Suspension crystallization methods for purifying chemicals at the floor have been proposed.
All of these methods freeze the crystal by heat removal (at each step in the case of multi-step crystallization).
Crystallization vessel for sintering and recrystallization for growing large crystals at the expense of small crystals
And a filter for separating crystals from the mother liquor. Few
At least the last stage filter is formed as a washing column.
Wash columns have the problem of completely separating the pure crystalline phase generated from the mother liquor.
I do. At that time, the crystal slurry is introduced into the column from below and used as a sieve plate.
It is compressed by the formed stamper, and the mother liquor flows down into the sieve plate.
A compressed crystal block is formed above the sieve plate. Above the crystal block
On the other hand, the crystals removed from the mother liquor by the scraper are scraped from the crystal block,
Melt and then release. At that time, a small amount of liquid is above the crystal block.
The fluid pressure of the molten crystal is adjusted so that the crystal block is pressed in for washing the adhered mother liquor.
maintain. The purity of the separated crystalline phase is fed to the crystal melting temperature and the washing column.
The strength depends on the temperature difference from the temperature of the crystal slurry. Therefore, this kind of cleaning color
The temperature must be between 5 ° C and up to 10 ° C between the feed crystal suspension and the molten pure phase.
It cannot be operated advantageously.
On the other hand, the mixture of organic compounds is limited as far as separation by crystallization is possible.
Has a liquid phase temperature where the difference with respect to the melting temperature of the crystal phase to be separated is extremely large
It occurs at a mixing ratio. The temperature of the crystal slurry to be supplied to the washing column is
Can only be obtained by redissolving a significant amount of the crystalline phase (ie,
The mother liquor concentration of the crystal suspension in the compound to be separated by
The acceptable temperature difference for the pure phase separation of
Only by raising by re-melting can the required temperature difference be raised
You.
According to the present invention, the crystals from the crystal suspension are now separated before being introduced into the washing column.
And resuspend in mother liquor, keeping its liquidus temperature below the melting temperature of the crystals to be separated.
It is proposed to go as high as 8.5 ° C.
The subject of the present invention is that the crystals are separated by a washing column after the final step and
One step of releasing the mother liquor depleted of the compound to be separated by crystallization from the first step
Or crystallizable organic compounds from liquid compound mixtures by multistage suspension crystallization
In the separation method, the crystalline phase is separated from the suspension before the suspension is introduced into the washing column.
Separated and in a mother liquor whose liquid temperature is 8.5 ° C or less below the melting temperature of the crystalline phase
This is a method for separating a crystallizable compound, characterized by resuspending.
The separation of the crystalline phase from the suspension is preferably such that the crystalline phase is still dripped with the suspending medium.
It is performed so that it adheres while wet. Preferably, a crystalline phase separated from the suspension
Can still contain 5 to 10% by weight of the suspending medium.
Suitable means for separating the crystalline phases are sieves and filters. For example,
Filter, drum filter, screw filter, curved sheave, etc.
Apparatus suitable for the technique for continuous separation of solids can be used.
The separated crystal phase is transferred to the mixing vessel immediately after separation, where the mother liquor is also resuspended.
Introduce for.
As a resuspension-mother liquor, the liquid temperature is higher than the melting temperature of the crystalline phase to be separated by 8
. If it is lower than 5 ° C., it can be used.
The difference between the melting temperature of the crystalline phase and the liquidus temperature of the starting compound mixture is greater than 8.5 ° C.
The resuspension-mother liquor is preferably used for the addition of crystallizable compounds to be separated.
The more resuspension-mother liquor is used enriched to have the required liquidus temperature. Abundant
The resuspended mother liquor is then returned to the mixing vessel after separation of the crystals in the washing column.
Amount of suspension medium still attached to the crystals after separation and resuspension-to enrich the mother liquor
Release from the resuspension-mother liquor cycle an amount corresponding to the amount of crystals to be remelted required.
And return to the crystallizer.
The present invention provides that the liquid phase temperature of the starting isomer mixture is higher than the melting temperature of the crystalline phase to be separated.
If it is lower than 8 ° C., it can be used advantageously.
Another preferred field of use of the invention is that the liquidus temperature of the starting isomer mixture is the melting temperature of the crystalline phase.
Crystallization at a low enough concentration that the mother liquor to be released is close enough but exhausts the crystallization phase
Compound, i.e., a sufficiently large amount of crystalline phase is formed to form the starting isomer mixture.
This is the case when its resuspension does not result in a pumpable suspension.
Preferably (supply of the resuspension-mother liquor to the mixing vessel, the separation of the crystalline phase in the mixing vessel)
Unsaturation is present after mixing with i.e., the mixture temperature is higher than the liquidus temperature of the mixture
It is performed at a temperature that makes Unsaturation can help maintain the resuspension-mother liquor composition.
Such an amount of crystalline phase should be metered such that it melts (or dissolves). Mixing container
The crystal phase that is melted again at 10% is preferably less than 10% of the crystal phase introduced into the mixing vessel.
Full
It is. Melting ratios of 2 to 8%, preferably 4 to 8%, are particularly suitable.
The method of the present invention was developed in the course of a test for isomer separation of isocyanates
However, more generally it is also very suitable for other systems. Isocyanate isomerism
The conditions for body separation are shown below as examples.

, 4-TDI (T100) is also 65-69% of 2,4-TDI and 35-31% of 2,4-TDI.
, 6-TDI (T67) are also used. The melting temperature of T100 is 22
° C. The liquidus temperature of the starting isomer mixture T80 is 13.5 ° C. 67% of 2
Liquid temperature of isomer mixture of 2,4-TDI and 33% 2,6-TDI is 6.3 ° C
It is. Crystal suspension from the crystallizer or, if necessary, the subsequent recrystallizer
Is a suspension of 6.3% temperature and 67% 2,4-TDI and 33% 2,6-TDI.
Having a composition of a turbid medium and containing T100 crystals. With a corresponding quantitative flow control,
The crystal suspension has a solids content of 20-35% by weight, preferably about 30% by weight
Can be ensured. The crystal suspension is fed to a band filter where
The crystals are separated from the suspension. Smaller crystals remain in the suspending medium and
It is then recycled to the crystallization device. The crystals separated from the suspension are dripping and wet.
That is, it is still introduced into the mixing vessel with about 8% adhered T67, where it is simultaneously
The starting isomer mixture is introduced at a temperature of 16 ° C. The liquidus temperature of the mixture is 3
