When the battery 17, which is the power source of the forklifts 11, 12, is worn out or fails, the battery storage case 16 is removed from the body 15 of the forklifts 11, 12 together with the battery 17, and then the battery storage case 16 is removed. The battery 17 needs to be replaced or repaired after being transported to a predetermined place while lifting and supporting the battery 17. Due to such a necessity, the battery storage case 16 is disposed on the side surface 16a of the battery storage case 16, that is, each of the side plates 16a facing each other in a direction orthogonal to the traveling direction of the forklifts 11, 12. There is provided an insertion opening 21 for inserting and inserting two forks (not shown) provided in another forklift used to lift and support the forklift.

However, the forklifts 11 and 12 according to the above-described conventional embodiments have the following disadvantages. First, in the forklift 11 according to the first conventional example, an opening 21 is formed, and a lifting plate member 22 extending above the upper opening of the battery storage case 16 is connected to a side surface of the battery storage case 16. 16a is attached to each upper position. However, in such a configuration, since the lifting plate member 22 is located above the driver's seat 19, not only does the appearance lack smartness, but also the driver's seat 19 The lifting and lowering operation of the operator who sits down or leaves the driver's seat 19 is hindered by the lifting plate member 22.

On the other hand, in the battery storage case 16 constituting the forklift 12 according to the second conventional example, the lower space 23 through which the fork is inserted is located below the bottom plate 16b on which the battery 17 is placed. As a result, the overall height of the battery storage case 16 is increased by the amount of the lower space 23 provided. When the overall height is higher, the position of the center of gravity of the battery storage case 16 is higher, and the height position of the case cover 18 that closes the upper opening of the battery storage case 16, and thus the driver's seat Since the height even at the 19th position is increased, the stability is reduced.

When the battery 17, which is the power source of the forklift 1, is depleted or malfunctions, the battery storage case 2 is removed together with the battery 17 from the vehicle body 15, lifted up and supported, and returned to a predetermined replacement place or repair place. It is to be transported. for that reason,
As shown in FIG. 2, the battery storage case 2 is lifted and supported on the side surface 2 a of the battery storage case 2, that is, the upper position of each of the side plates 2 a facing each other in a direction orthogonal to the traveling direction of the forklift 1. A pair of insertion openings 4 into which two forks (not shown) arranged in other forklifts used at this time are inserted and inserted are directly formed.

That is, the battery storage case 2 according to the present embodiment includes the lifting plate member 2 shown in the first conventional example.
2, the insertion openings 4 are formed directly on the side plate 2 a itself, and a pair of the insertion openings 4 are formed on the opposite sides of the battery housing case 2. It is formed after selecting the upper corresponding position in each of 2a. It should be noted that such an insertion opening 4 is connected to the side surface 2 a of the battery storage case 2.
In this case, the advantage that the hydrogen gas generated from the battery cell 17 which is a lead storage battery is directly discharged into the outside air by natural ventilation is also ensured.

Furthermore, in the battery storage case 2 according to the present embodiment, the upper surface opening is to be closed by the case cover 3, but as shown in FIG. The portion 3 a, that is, the seat installation portion 3 a where the driver's seat 19 is to be installed, has a shape that is concave toward the inside of the battery storage case 2. In addition, the front end of the front plate 2b of the battery storage case 2, that is, the upper end of the front plate 2b of the battery storage case 2 arranged in a direction coinciding with the traveling direction of the vehicle body 15, is also shown in FIG. In addition, it has a concave shape corresponding to the seat installation portion 3a of the case cover 3. Reference numeral 7 in FIG. 3 denotes a fastening component having a latch structure, and both the battery storage case 2 and the case cover 3 are fastened to each other using such a fastening component 7. .

That is, as described above, the insertion opening 4 is formed at the upper position of each of the side surfaces 2a of the battery storage case 2, and the upper space portion 5 through which the fork of another forklift is inserted is inserted into the battery storage case 2. When the battery housing case 2 is provided, the overall height of the battery storage case 2 is increased as in the second conventional example. However, the seat installation portion 3a of the case cover 3 is formed to be concave toward the inside of the battery storage case 2, and the upper end of the front plate 2b of the battery storage case 2 is connected to the seat installation portion 3a of the case cover 3. If the shape is correspondingly concave, the driver's seat 1 installed on the seat installation portion 3a of the case cover 3
The height position of 9 does not become too high, and the driver's seat 19 can be installed at the normal height position.

In this embodiment, the insertion openings 4 formed in the side surfaces 2a of the battery storage case 2 are for inserting and inserting two forks provided in another forklift. However, the present invention is not limited to the insertion and insertion of forks. For example, after hooking a crane on these insertion openings 4, the battery storage case 2 and the battery cells 17 together with the battery cells 17 are crane-mounted. Of course, it may be lifted and transferred.

As described above, in the forklift according to the present invention, the fork insertion opening is formed at the upper position of each of the side plates of the battery storage case.
In addition, since the seat installation portion of the case cover and the upper end of the front plate of the battery storage case are concave toward the inside of the battery storage case, the external appearance of the battery storage case loses its smartness. It does not happen and the operator's getting on / off operation is not hindered. In addition, since the position of the center of gravity of the battery storage case and the height position of the driver's seat are not increased, it is possible to ensure stability, and it is possible to obtain an effect that the strength of the vehicle body does not decrease.
