Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recording head shaped to discharge residual bubbles standing in the read of an ink chamber easily by preventing the current velocity of ink remote from an ink injection opening from lowering below the current velocity of ink close to the ink injection opening. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording head comprises a laminate of a diaphragm 14 fixed with a pressure generating element 5, a chamber plate 13 forming a pressure chamber 8, a supply plate 12 having a nozzle conduction hole 7 and an ink supply opening 4, an ink chamber plate 11 conducting with the nozzle conduction hole 7 through the ink supply opening 4, and a nozzle plate 10 having a nozzle hole 3. The current velocity of ink remote from an ink injection opening 6 is prevented from lowering below the current velocity of ink close to the ink injection opening 6. Consequently, an ink jet recording head can be shaped to discharge residual bubbles standing in the read of an ink chamber 2 easily.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, an ink jet recording head of this type has a diaphragm provided with a pressure generating element for pressurizing a pressure chamber and a pressure chamber, as shown in, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-314836. A supply plate including a chamber plate, a communication hole and an ink supply port communicating with both ends of the pressure chamber, an ink chamber communicating with the pressure chamber via the ink supply port, and an ink including a communication hole communicating with the pressure chamber. It is configured by stacking a chamber plate and a nozzle plate having a nozzle that seals the other surface of the ink chamber plate and is connected to the pressure chamber through each communication hole.

A problem with this conventional ink jet recording head is that residual air bubbles are likely to accumulate in a portion of the ink chamber away from the ink inlet. This is because the shape of the ink chamber has substantially the same sectional area in the vicinity of the ink injection port and in the area farther from the ink injection port. When filling the ink chamber and the pressure chamber with the ink, the ink of the ink cartridge communicating with the ink injection port is suctioned from the nozzle to be filled. That is, the ink to be filled from the ink inlet is sequentially filled from the supply port closer to the ink inlet, and at a position farther from the ink inlet, the flow velocity of the ink decreases, and the flow tends to be stagnant. The accumulation of air bubbles in the stagnant portion of the flow has caused problems such as ejection failure and ink filling being hindered by the air bubbles.
