Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mildew removal agent compsn. which can be applied to a vertical wall surface without exhibiting sagging and, when used, emits a chlorine odor very little by compounding an aq. soln. contg. a hypochlorite and a chlorate as the effective ingredients with sodium montmorillonite. SOLUTION: An aq. soln. contg. a hypochlorite (e.g. sodium or calcium hypochlorite) and a chlorate (e.g. sodium or calcium chlorate), pref. in a wt. ratio of (1/1)-(1/5), as the effective ingredients is compounded with 5-30 pts.wt. sodium montmorillonite based on 100 pts.wt. water in the aq. soln. Since the compsn. contg. sodium montmorillonite is gelatinous, it can be applied to a vertical wall surface without exhibiting sagging, and by the synergistic action of a hypochlorite and a chlorate, the compsn. slowly releases active Cl and active O, thus killing formed mildew in a short time.

Conventionally, in order to safely handle compounds capable of releasing active chlorine or active oxygen, there has been known a method of gelling and applying an aqueous solution containing these compounds, as disclosed in JP-A-47-8157. In the gazette, a method using a mixture of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hypochlorite and the like, a synthetic magnesium silicate in which a part of magnesium atoms are replaced by lithium atoms as a gel forming agent,
JP-A-60-180902 discloses a method in which sodium montmorillonite is mixed with an aqueous solution containing sodium chlorite and gelled to stabilize.

[0004] However, when an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal hypochlorite or an aqueous solution containing sodium chlorite is treated with a gel-forming agent, the amount of active chlorine or active oxygen generated is remarkably reduced. Even if it is applied to a wall surface or the like where cracks are generated, mold cannot be sufficiently killed and it is difficult to practically use as a mold removing agent.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION The mold remover composition of the present invention comprises a combination of hypochlorites such as sodium hypochlorite and calcium hypochlorite and chlorates such as sodium chlorite and calcium chlorate. It is essential that the weight ratio is slightly different depending on the type of compound,
Usually a ratio of 1: 1 to 5 should be used.

In the practice of the present invention, if the amount of hypochlorite falls below a predetermined range, the amount of active chlorine generated is reduced and the killing action against mold does not appear quickly. The effect does not change even if it is used beyond. When the chlorates are below the predetermined range, the killing power against mold tends to be remarkably reduced. Conversely, when the amount of the chlorates is too large, the stability of the composition during storage decreases. Then long-term storage becomes impossible. In order to increase the mixing stability of the aqueous solution containing hypochlorites and chlorates, a neutral alkali metal salt such as sodium chloride or sodium sulfate should be added to these systems.

The amount of sodium montmorillonite added to an aqueous solution containing hypochlorites and chlorates is water 10
The range of 5 to 30 parts by weight relative to 0 parts by weight is preferable. When the amount of sodium montmorillonite is small relative to water, the composition lacks viscosity and is difficult to coat on a vertical wall surface. The viscosity is extremely increased and the generation of active chlorine is suppressed, so that the desired medicinal effect cannot be produced.

According to the present invention, sodium montmorillonite is blended with an aqueous solution containing hypochlorites and chlorates as active ingredients, and the composition is gelled. Can be applied without
By the synergistic action of hypochlorites and chlorates, molds generated by gradually releasing active chlorine and active oxygen can be killed in a short time, and these are covered with the paste film. Since it exists in a state and volatilization into the air is suppressed, the duration of the medicinal effect can be drastically extended, and the generation of chlorine odor during use can be significantly reduced.

The present invention will be specifically described below with reference to examples and comparative examples. In these tests, the dripping when applied to a vertical wall surface was obtained by allowing the mold remover to stand for 5 hours, measuring the thixo index, and counting the results. The thixo index was 4 or more. If so, no dripping is observed on the coating.

The generation of chlorine odor and other off-flavors during use is measured by smell. The killing effect on mold is obtained by contacting a mold remover with mold and visually observing the time required for mold removal. The storage stability of the mold remover is obtained by leaving the sample at room temperature and examining the time-dependent change of active chlorine (reduction rate with respect to the initial concentration). In these tests, sodium montmorillonite (trade name: Laponite RDS) commercially available from Nippon Silica Industry Co., Ltd. was used.
