L'appensantitore (o booster, in inglese) è un accessorio che viene applicato all'imboccatura delle trombe e di tutti gli altri strumenti della famiglia degli ottoni per potenziarne il suono: l'appesantitore infatti, ospitando al proprio interno quasi interamente l'imboccatura di uno strumento, aumenta la massa della stessa e quindi ne concentra le vibrazioni sonore. L'elemento inferiore deM'appesantitore (la e 2a) replica fedelmente il tratto iniziale del cannello principale dello strumento, permettendo all'accessorio di fare corpo unico con l'imboccatura.
