Description
Manjotar By Allan Schnekenburger A Manjotar is my exclusive design of an adaptable, user-friendly musical instrument. The pictured model was fmalized under contract by La Croix Guitars, St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada.
The resulting instrument (pictured) is unique, not so much by its' body type or body style, but by the gauge, placement and tuning pattern of its' six strings.
There are three and perhaps more tuning patterns may be used with a Manjotar.
The uniqueness of the instrument is from the pairing of some strings that are tuned in tandem. The most common tuning patter will be as follows; from bass to treble (see picture) "G" and "g", "D"
and "d", A, E. "G" and "g" are in tandem. "g" is of a lighter gauge and tuned one full octave above "G". They are played as a single string (see picture). "D" and "d" are in tandem. "d" is of a lighter gauge and tuned one full octave above "D". They are located close together. They are played as a single string (see picture).

AU2014100554A4 (en) | The Qanun (like zither/dulcimer) is classically a single-sided multi-stringed instrument. The double-sided modification design provides extra access to strings and octaves, and offers greater control and articulation in sound creation. The extension opens up several opportunities to enhance the capacity of the instrument and also reduce undesirable overtones inherent in the older design. This is made possible by providing tuning levers in the new section, where previously the strings were in a fixed position and could not be adjusted. This design can allow more than one performer (max. of 4). | |
