DESCRIZIONE dell’invenzione industriale DESCRIPTION of the industrial invention
The present invention relates to artificial stone products in the form of blocks consisting of granules of stone material bonded with a cementitious binder and more specifically to a process for their production and the relative plant.
It is known that for many centuries natural stone materials, such as marble, granite, etc., have been used in the form of slabs and panels for both flooring and wall coverings.
The natural stone materials are extracted in the form of blocks from the quarries and the blocks are subjected to an operating cycle that involves numerous operations and processes, such as sawing, sanding, polishing and more.
Besides the undisputed aesthetic properties and the equally undeniable mechanical properties, natural stone materials nevertheless present some problems and drawbacks.
First of all, each block extracted from a quarry has sometimes slight but sometimes also significant differences compared to the blocks extracted from the same quarry, so it is not possible to obtain flooring or coatings of large surfaces that do not present significant aesthetic and / or chromatic differences. Secondly, already during the extraction of the blocks from the quarries, a significant part of the material excavated or extracted, for example by blasting mines, remains unused or becomes so during the workings.
As an example, it can be mentioned that the percentage of material used by the excavation of stone quarries, i.e. sent to subsequent processing in the form of blocks, does not exceed 20-30% with the obvious waste that is not only disadvantageous from an industrial point of view but also constitutes a factor of environmental pollution and disfigurement of the landscape in the areas surrounding the quarries.
In the past, and still today, attempts are made to use this resulting stone material (ie the aforementioned 70% not used directly) in the manufacture of artificial stone artefacts.
To solve this problem, various solutions have been proposed and implemented which can be classified into two main groups or approaches. A first approach consisted in the manufacture of cementitious products or tiles called “terrazzo”, substantially constituted by granulate of natural stone material dispersed in a cementitious matrix. With the particular procedure adopted for this product, tiles are obtained having a high thickness (especially if referred to the unitary dimensions of the tile) and therefore also a high weight, obviously disadvantageous in view of the subsequent handling, especially when laying the tiles.
In general, a “terrazzo” tile has a maximum size of 40x40 cm (with a thickness of not less than 3.5 cm) or 30x30 cm (with a thickness of 2.7 cm) or other less commonly used dimensions.
Furthermore, the mechanical properties are relatively poor.
In fact, the flexural strength (9.5-10 N / mmq.) And that to abrasion (560-580 mmc) have values that are certainly not of a high level, while the water absorption reaches 9-10% by weight. .
A further disadvantage of this cementitious artifact lies in its aspect which denounces the presence of the cementitious binder in which the granulate is embedded, so from an aesthetic point of view the "terrazzo" tiles have never been taken into great consideration and therefore their large diffusion was mainly due to their cheapness.
Each tile is produced individually with a process that includes the following stages:
(1) si distende sul fondo di uno stampo e si sottopone a leggera vibrazione per alcuni secondi uno strato di miscela od impasto di partenza, costituito (a) dal granulato inerte preventivamente ridotto alla granulometria desiderata e (b) da un legante cementizio formato da cemento ed acqua nel quale la percentuale di acqua è nettamente in eccesso rispetto alla quantità normalmente necessaria per ottenere Fazione legante; (1) spreads on the bottom of a mold and is subjected to slight vibration for a few seconds a layer of starting mixture or slurry, consisting of (a) the inert granulate previously reduced to the desired granulometry and (b) a cementitious binder formed by cement and water in which the percentage of water is clearly in excess of the quantity normally necessary to obtain the binding action;
(2) al di sopra di questo primo strato (destinato a formare la cosiddetta faccia a vista della mattonella) si dispone un secondo strato di legante cementizio molto magro, appena inumidito con acqua ; (2) above this first layer (intended to form the so-called exposed face of the tile) there is a second layer of very thin cementitious binder, just moistened with water;
(3) a pressing is applied above this second layer in order to force the excess water present in the first layer to be transferred to the overlying layer in order to integrate the percentage of water and bring it to values suitable for carrying out the subsequent phases setting and hardening; (4) the product is extracted from the mold and kept at rest for the time necessary for it to take place on shelves or shelves where it is also left for the time necessary to complete the hardening phase (usually about 25 days).
In relation to the manufacture of artifacts in the form of tiles or slabs, in more recent years industrial processes have been studied and developed industrially in which a granular charge of stone material, usually the scraps of the excavation of natural stone materials, previously brought to a suitable granulometry , is mixed in suitable proportions with a binder, which can be either of a cementitious nature or made up of a hardenable synthetic resin.
The resulting mixture is subjected to a first stage of forming, for example by filling special molds or similar forming devices in order to form a layer of the desired thickness.
The mold or the forming device is then subjected to a mechanical compaction action (preferably by the action of a plate press), with the simultaneous application of a vibratory motion and keeping the mold under vacuum.
At the end of this operation, lasting a few minutes, a hardening phase takes place, the modalities of which depend on the nature of the binder.
More specifically, in the case of the cementitious binder it is a setting phase and subsequent hardening of the traditional type, whereby the product is left to rest for the necessary time.
In the case of a binder consisting of synthetic resin, usually thermosetting, the hardening takes place in a short time in the presence of a catalyst with the application of heat or at room temperature by the joint action of a catalyst and a promoter.
This process is not only advantageous as it is compatible with the standards of a modern industrial production, but also and above all leads to products that are certainly more advantageous from the point of view of physical and mechanical properties, even if at the price of a higher unit cost of the manufactured product (due to the higher investment and operating cost of the production plant and the higher cost of the binder consisting of hardenable synthetic resin).
The second group or approach is that of manufacturing blocks of dimensions comparable to those of excavated blocks, to be subjected to sawing, etc.
In common practice, the manufacture of blocks of stone materials has been and is carried out using mainly calcareous stone materials (as, unlike siliceous materials such as granite, they are easily sawed by means of tools garnished with diamond concretion segments) and Portland cement or more generally hydraulic binders such as agglomerating agents.
Unfortunately, these blocks have the same negative characteristics as the aforementioned cementitious products since in their manufacture it is necessary to use cement mixtures formulated with excess water, given the need to have fluid mixtures and therefore able to easily fill the interstices.
On the other hand, the excess of water in relation to the cement drastically lowers the mechanical characteristics of the artifacts and furthermore the slabs obtained from the blocks are subject to widespread cracks, caused by the alternate shrinkage and expansion of the artifact, made important by the excessive porosity of the artifact caused by the evaporation of too much excess water and by the reduced resistance of the product, consequent to this excess.
Attualmente tali blocchi vengono fabbricati riempiendo con impasti opportunamente formulati casseforme di varie dimensioni. These blocks are currently manufactured by filling formworks of various sizes with appropriately formulated mixtures.
The filled formworks are subjected to vibrations applied to the base and / or walls of the formwork, in order to compact the mix in the manner of a concrete casting.
The excess water causes the phenomenon of "bleeding", that is the separation of water from the cement, with surfacing on the surface, and (which is much more serious) this separation also occurs in the individual interstices where the interface between the binder paste and the surface of the granule of stone material can sometimes consist of water alone.
The use of fluidifying additives in this type of process is not very useful since the mixture, although more flowing, assumes a plasticity that hinders the deaeration of the mass necessary before setting.
The consequence is that artifacts are obtained full of air bubbles which on the surface of the slabs obtained from the block by sawing appear in the form of holes with a diameter varying between a few hundredths of a millimeter and a few millimeters.
In addition to the aforementioned procedure, in the technical panorama relating to the manufacture of blocks of stone material, the Italian patent 1.181.570 can be mentioned, (in which other patents of the prior art are summarized), a process for the production of blocks starting from from stone material of various sizes and from a binder that provides an initial mixing phase in which the mixing of the stone material, powder of the same material and / or granulate and binder is carried out under vacuum, after which the mixture is transferred in a formwork to which a reciprocating motion is imparted to obtain a uniform and homogeneous distribution of the mixture inside the formwork; the formwork remaining under vacuum is then transferred to an environment also under vacuum where it is subjected to the action of a compacting press combined with a vibratory motion of a predetermined frequency.
The subsequent and final phase, which is that of setting and hardening, also in this case depends on the nature of the binder, i.e. on whether it is a hardenable resin, or a cementitious binder and therefore the considerations already made apply, without prejudice to the obvious differences due to the size of the blocks.
It is also noteworthy that in this case not only the vibro-compaction phase but also the mixing phase are carried out in the absence of air, that is, under a vacuum of a predetermined amount. Now it is undeniable that when mechanical components of considerable size have to operate under a considerable vacuum in a plant, this entails high machinery costs and complications as well as problems for running the plant and for the maintenance it requires.
Therefore, the problem of the production of artifacts of the aforementioned type has in fact remained unsolved for the cases in which these artifacts are intended for economic building applications and in those in which the unit cost of the cladding materials becomes a determining factor in the choice of materials if not even in the realization of the work.
The main purpose of the present invention is that of making manufactured articles in which natural stone materials in the form of granulates and a cementitious binder are used which are not subject to the problems and drawbacks briefly described above in relation to the already known solutions. In the realization of manufactured articles that meet the above purpose, the main problem that up to now has not found a satisfactory solution is that of filling the porosities or empty spaces that are created or remain between the particles of a granulate when it occupies a certain closed space. or volume.
Infected, the greater the degree of filling, the more the resulting cementitious product will approach a natural stone material in terms of properties and also in terms of appearance.
If we now take the aforementioned volume or closed space containing a certain amount of granulate, the nature, above all as dimensions of the porosities or interstitial cavities between the particles, obviously depends on the particle size, so the degree of vacuum and therefore the volume of interstitial cavities to be filled with the cementitious binder also depends on the granulometry.
The cementitious binder, in turn, basically consists of powdered cement and water.
There is a known amount of water in itself that is necessary for the reactions that characterize the setting and hardening phases of a cement to take place.
However, this quantity of water is not sufficient to give the mix of cement and water even minimal smoothness or fluidity, so that in the normal manufacturing technology of concrete products the amount of water added in the preparation phase of the mix is in excess.
In turn, this excess must be as small as possible, compatibly with the manipulability of the mixture, because the excess water ultimately affects the mechanical properties of the final concrete product and enhances its porosity.
Returning now to the preparation of the artifact consisting of stone material in granular form and cementitious binder to which the present invention is directed, if a mixture of water and cement containing only sufficient quantity of water were used to fill the interstitial cavities existing in the mass of the granulates upon hydration of the cement, this mixture would be very dense and would have insufficient smoothness or fluidity to fill the interstices between the granules of inert stone material by sliding.
If on the other hand you want to obtain the optimum filling degree, the initial mixing of water and cement should contain a percentage of excess water, as mentioned above, to the detriment of the mechanical properties of the cement matrix of the final product and therefore of the product itself. To get a more precise idea of the values involved, just consider that an almost ideal mixture for obtaining a concrete product with optimal characteristics and properties should have a water content not exceeding 0.32 parts by weight referring to the weight of cement, where the percentage of water to obtain a satisfactory fluidity of the mixture such as to guarantee a satisfactory degree of filling of the interstitial cavities of a granulate should generally be greater than 0.55 parts by weight always referred to the weight of the cement but in this case the mechanical properties of the final product are decidedly poor.
Therefore up to the present invention a solution of the problem which was industrially satisfactory has not been found.
In recent years, moreover, fluidifying additives have come into use with the aim of giving greater smoothness to cementitious mixtures containing water and cement in the optimal ratio, mixtures that in the absence of the fluidifying additive are pasty and therefore non-flowing.
With the present invention, on the other hand, the optimal solution has been found for the realization of blocks of cement agglomerates comprising a granulate of stone material and a cementitious matrix for filling the porosity and interstitial cavities of the said granulate, blocks which have:
(i) la possibilità di essere segati in lastre di grandi dimensioni ma in spessori di gran lunga inferiori a quelli delle lastre ricavabili dalla segagione di blocchi prodotti secondo la tecnica nota e direttamente paragonabili in quanto aventi analoga composizione, (i) the possibility of being sawn into large slabs but in thicknesses much lower than those of slabs obtainable from the sawing of blocks produced according to the known technique and directly comparable as they have an analogous composition,
(ti) proprietà fisiche e meccaniche, in particolare compattezza (assenza di porosità) e resistenza alla flessione, eccellenti e dello stesso ordine di quelle ottenibili con i procedimenti più recenti, basati sulla vibrocompattazione sotto vuoto di miscele di granulato e legante, e (ti) physical and mechanical properties, in particular compactness (absence of porosity) and resistance to bending, excellent and of the same order as those obtainable with the most recent processes, based on the vibro-compaction under vacuum of mixtures of granulate and binder, and
(iti) aesthetic appearance very similar to that of the natural stone material from which the starting granulate is formed.
For the realization of the block having the aforementioned characteristics, the present invention consists of a process which provides for the following operations:
a) predisposizione di un granulato avente granulometria prestabilita e controllata e calcolo del relativo grado o rapporto dei vuoti; a) preparation of a granulate having a predetermined and controlled granulometry and calculation of the relative degree or ratio of voids;
b) caricamento della macchina mescolatrice con gli ingredienti della miscela finale, costituita dai detto granulato, acqua, cemento un additivo fluidificante ed eventuali additivi ausiliari, la quantità di acqua in peso, riferita al peso di cemento, essendo compresa tra il 25% ed il 32%, la quantità di detto additivo fluidificante essendo tale che la sola pasta di acqua e cemento quando sia sottoposta al test “Minislump”su di una superficie liscia formi una chiazza tondeggiante del diametro di circa venti cm. e non presenti apparentemente fenomeni di separazione tra l’acqua ed il cemento con affioramento dell’acqua in superficie, la quantità di pasta di cemento essendo in leggero eccesso rispetto al detto grado di vuoti interstiziali di detto granulato di partenza, eccesso preferibilmente compreso tra il 6% ed il 10%; b) loading of the mixing machine with the ingredients of the final mixture, consisting of said granulate, water, cement, a fluidifying additive and any auxiliary additives, the quantity of water by weight, referred to the weight of cement, being between 25% and 32%, the quantity of said fluidifying additive being such that the only paste of water and cement when subjected to the “Minislump” test on a smooth surface forms a roundish patch with a diameter of about twenty cm. and apparently does not present phenomena of separation between the water and the cement with the water coming out on the surface, the quantity of cement paste being in slight excess with respect to the said degree of interstitial voids of said starting granulate, an excess preferably comprised between the 6% and 10%;
c) miscelazione infima degli ingredienti anzidetti, la miscelazione essendo effettuata in una mescolatrice sotto vuoto nella quale il vuoto è tuttavia controllato ad un valore non superiore a 690 mm Hg onde evitare l’ebollizione dell’acqua e la formazione di bolle di vapore nella massa; d) trasferimento della miscela risultante, sempre mantenuta sotto vuoto, in una cassaforma contenuta in una camera sotto vuoto comunicante con detta mescolatrice, in modo da ottenere un riempimento uniforme della cassaforma; c) minimal mixing of the aforementioned ingredients, the mixing being carried out in a vacuum mixer in which the vacuum is nevertheless controlled at a value not exceeding 690 mm Hg in order to avoid boiling of the water and the formation of steam bubbles in the mass ; d) transferring the resulting mixture, always kept under vacuum, into a formwork contained in a vacuum chamber communicating with said mixer, so as to obtain a uniform filling of the formwork;
e) applicazione all’impasto contenuto nella cassaforma di un moto vibratorio di frequenza compresa tra 2000 e 4800 giri al minuto, per un tempo di alcuni minuti, e) application to the mixture contained in the formwork of a vibratory motion with a frequency between 2000 and 4800 revolutions per minute, for a time of a few minutes,
g) trasferimento della cassaforma ad una stazione di presa e primo indurimento iniziale, con permanenza in questa stazione di almeno 8 ore, e h) sformatura del blocco e mantenimento per una prima stagionatura per circa 7 giorni, avendo cura di proteggere il blocco onde evitare l’evaporazione dell’acqua; g) transfer of the formwork to a gripping station and initial initial hardening, with a stay in this station for at least 8 hours, and h) demoulding of the block and maintenance for a first curing for about 7 days, taking care to protect the block in order to avoid evaporation of water;
i) completamento della stagionatura per il numero di giorni necessario, detta stagionatura essendo effettuata sul blocco tal quale oppure sulle lastre risultanti dalla segagione del blocco in lastre dello spessore desiderato. i) completion of the curing for the necessary number of days, said curing being carried out on the block as it is or on the slabs resulting from the sawing of the block into slabs of the desired thickness.
In the previous definition, the expression "minislump" test means the simplified form of the fluidity test carried out according to the method defined by the UNI 9418 standard.
Taking into consideration the preparation of the starting mix, by way of illustration it can be noted that if equal volumes of water and cement are mixed, a mixture or mixture is obtained containing about 32% by weight of water referred to the weight of cement. If you take a granulate coming for example from the grinding of marble with a grain size between 0.1 and 6 mm. it has a void ratio of about 26% by volume, so this is the theoretical quantity of cement mixture to be added. In reality, the quantity of mixture added in this case is increased to about 29% by volume.
Wanting to increase the quantity of cement paste for filling the interstitial cavities, for example when the void ratio increases, so that the amount of mix would increase correspondingly, it is possible and foreseen the use of inert materials in finely ground form (for example carbonate of calcium), so that the quantity of cement is kept low enough by replacing a part of it with an inert material, while always maintaining the low water / cement ratio mentioned above.
Finally, it should be noted that other additives can also be added to the cement and water mixture, such as the usual dyes for cement, when, for example, particular chromatic or decorative effects are sought.
As for the fluidifying additive that improves the smoothness and therefore the fluidity of the cement mixture to be mixed with the granulate, these are well-known additives in the technique. Examples of such additives are the so-called superplasticizers based on naphthalenesulfonic compounds, based on melamine or based on acrylic polymers.
Among these we can mention those obtained by copolymerization of acrylic acid such as "TERAFLUID 001" by Breton SpA, "MAPEIFLUID XP404" by Mapei SpA, "CHUUPOL APIO" by the Japanese company Takemoto, or those with a naflalene sulphonic base such as "REBUELD 2000" by Swiss company Mac-Master or finally those based on melamine, such as "MELMENT L30" of the German SKW.
Taking into consideration more specifically the individual stages of the process of the invention as defined above, the first aspect worthy of more specific comments is that of the choice of the starting granulate.
As already mentioned, one of the advantageous aspects of the present invention lies in the fact that there is an integral reuse of waste stone material such as that resulting in the excavation of blocks of natural stone material.
If the starting granulate is homogeneous and therefore resulting from the same stone material (from the start, the optimal condition is to crush and grind this stone material up to a maximum particle size not exceeding 6 mm, (although in some cases this size maximum optimum can reach 10 mm), and therefore use the granulate resulting from the grinding as it is (tout venant).
On the other hand, when the starting granulate is not homogeneous or it is desired, for example in order to obtain particular chromatic or aesthetic effects, to mix stone materials of different origins and provenance, in this case the composition of the starting granulate can be prepared by applying one of the usual formulas for calculating the composition and particle size distribution used in the field of cementitious products with reference to the inert component.
292- 303, Hoepli editore. Examples of these formulas are the formulas of Fuller and Thompson or the Bolomey formula discussed for example in M Collepardi, Science and technology of concrete, p. 292-303, Hoepli publisher.
Once the starting granulate and its composition and particle size distribution have been identified, it is possible to calculate the relative void ratio, for example from formula 7.12 of the same text indicated above.
On the basis of this void ratio it is possible to identify the quantity of cement mixture which is theoretically sufficient to determine the filling of the porosities and interstitial cavities.
As already mentioned in the definition of the process of the present invention, the quantity of mixture actually used will be in a slight excess with respect to this theoretical quantity, an excess which, however, must not be such as to lead to the formation of an autonomous layer at the end of the process. alone concrete on the surface of the compacted block. In practice, this excess is normally of the order of 6 to 10% of the initial volume of the cement paste referred to the total volume of the mixture of granulate and cement mixture.
Moving on now to consider the other stages of the process, they first envisage that the mixing takes place under a controlled vacuum so as to prevent the mixture that subsequently fills the formwork from containing air whose removal, given the size of the block and therefore formwork is very problematic and almost impossible with traditional methods.
Without this consideration having to be understood in a limiting sense, it seems plausible to believe that the application of vibration under vacuum to the deaerated mixture that fills the formwork leads to mutual settling of the granulate particles and their better interpenetration or surface "closure" ( by "closure" we mean the fact that the surface of the product or slab has very small areas of visible cementitious binder), as the particles can make microscopic displacements without being hindered by friction that would hinder the identical settlement in the absence of the mixture cementing which in this way also acts in such a way as to substantially reduce friction, as well as obviously filling the interstitial cavities of the granulate.
As regards the procedure defined above, another aspect is worthy of note, namely the fact that the initial setting and hardening phase occurs after at least 8 hours from the beginning of the same phase, but a duration of 24 hours is recommended, to avoid related problems. to mechanical demoulding.
As previously mentioned, the hardening or curing phase involves first of all keeping the block extracted from the formwork at rest, preferably under an envelope of waterproof material, in order to prevent the evaporation of water from the block to the surrounding atmosphere. This phase has a preferable duration of about seven days and at this stage it appears preferable to cut the resulting block before the seasoning is completed, then allowing the seasoning to proceed for the raw slabs obtained, or to proceed with the other finishing operations.
Passando ora a considerare l’impianto per la realizzazione del procedimento della presente invenzione esso comprende, quali componenti essenziali: A) una mescolatrice, nel quale si miscelano intimamente acqua, cemento ed additivo fluidificante nonché altri eventuali additivi (come ad esempio coloranti per cemento) e la carica di granulato (fi materiale lapideo, detta mescolatrice essendo mantenuto sotto un vuoto generato da mezzi generatori di vuoto e regolato in modo da impedire l’ebollizione dell’acqua contenuta nella miscela risultante; Turning now to consider the plant for carrying out the process of the present invention, it comprises, as essential components: A) a mixer, in which water, cement and fluidifying additive are intimately mixed as well as any other additives (such as dyes for cement) and the charge of granulate (the stone material, said mixer being maintained under a vacuum generated by vacuum generating means and adjusted so as to prevent boiling of the water contained in the resulting mixture;
B) una camera di formatura in comunicazione attraverso mezzi a valvola con lo scarico di detta mescolatrice, detta camera essendo atta ad accogliere temporaneamente una cassaforma ed essendo dotata dì mezzi per rendere uniforme ed omogenea la distribuzione della detta miscela risultante in detta cassaforma; B) a forming chamber in communication through valve means with the discharge of said mixer, said chamber being adapted to temporarily accommodate a formwork and being equipped with means for making the distribution of the resulting mixture uniform and homogeneous in said formwork;
C) mezzi generatori di moto vibratorio atti ad applicare un moto vibratorio a detta miscela contenuta in detta cassaforma, detto moto vibratorio essendo applicato sotto vuoto ad una frequenza compresa tra 2000 e 4800 giri al minuto, preferibilmente 3000 giri al minuto, e per un breve tempo, preferibilmente dell’ordine di 4-5 minuti; C) vibratory motion generating means adapted to apply a vibratory motion to said mixture contained in said formwork, said vibratory motion being applied under vacuum at a frequency between 2000 and 4800 revolutions per minute, preferably 3000 revolutions per minute, and for a short time, preferably of the order of 4-5 minutes;
D) una stazione di presa ed indurimento iniziale in cui vengono smistate dette casseforme quando è terminata la fase di applicazione di detto moto vibratorio; D) an initial gripping and hardening station in which said formworks are sorted when the application phase of said vibratory motion is completed;
E) a station for demoulding the blocks from said formwork and for maintaining the blocks for the hardening or seasoning phase, in which for a first period each block is protected against the evaporation of water towards the surrounding environment.
As regards the mixer, this is preferably of the type with parallel horizontal shafts bearing radial arms, or it is a mixer of the orbital type with vertical shafts.
In the preferred embodiment, moreover, said mixer is integral with the upper part of the forming chamber, and this, in turn, is preferably kept under vacuum both during the passage of the mixture from the mixer to the formwork, and during the phase of application of the vibratory motion.
In turn, the formwork is supported on a mobile trolley with reciprocating motion, whereby the tucking of the formwork is moved alternately in a horizontal direction with respect to the overlying discharge mouth of the mixer and in this way a uniform distribution of the mixture in the formwork is ensured:
As regards specifically the phase of application of the vibratory motion, according to a first embodiment of the plant according to the invention, the vibratory motion can be applied to the same support carriage of the formwork in the filling chamber.
Più specificamente: Alternatively, this step is carried out in a second external chamber with respect to the vacuum chamber in which the formwork is filled with the mixture prepared in the aforementioned mixer, in which case in said second chamber, communicating with the first through a vacuum-tight door. and also maintained under a predetermined degree of vacuum not exceeding 690 mm Hg, the formwork is supported on a plane to which means generating vibratory motion of the desired frequency are connected. In the attached drawings a partial regret according to the present invention is schematically represented. More specifically:

Figures 3 and 4 show specifically the mixer of preparation of the mixture.
Referring first to fig. 1, the plant part shown (since the remaining parts are known in themselves) comprises a mixer 10 and a vacuum chamber 12, into which a formwork 14 is introduced, supported on the trolley 16. The trolley 16 is mounted on wheels 18 which are motorized so that the trolley and together with it the formwork 14 move alternately in the direction of the arrows F1 and F2. In this way, as can be clearly seen from the figure, the upper mouth of the formwork 14 moves alternately between a first extreme position shown in figure 1 in solid lines and a second extreme position shown in figure 1 in broken lines.
The chamber 12 is defined by a frame 20 which not only encloses and defines the chamber 12 but is also equipped with lateral openings for the entry and exit of the formwork, in a per se known manner, openings which are obviously equipped with suitable means sealing, since a substantial vacuum must be created in the chamber 12 as already mentioned.
Also the mixer 10 in a per se known way is kept under the same vacuum practiced in the chamber 12 and this preferably by connecting both the mixer and the chamber to the same vacuum source (not shown), the mixer 10 is equipped with an exhaust duct 22 equipped with interception means, for example a shutter, so as to control the discharge of the mixture from the mixer inside the formwork.
In this embodiment to the trolley 16 there are integral vibratory motion generating means, schematically represented with the reference 24, which are designed to impart a vibratory motion to the plane 28 of the trolley 16 and therefore through the formwork 14 resting on the trolley to the mixture contained in the formwork itself.
It is evident that the mixing action that takes place in the mixer 10 since it takes place under vacuum, also has the function of deaerating the resulting mixture or, better said, preventing the final mixture from incorporating air. In fact, the dimensions of the formwork and therefore of the mixture contained in it would almost completely hinder the removal of the air determined by the vibratory motion applied to the mixture itself.
From Figures 3 and 4 it is possible to appreciate an embodiment of the mixer 10, comprising two shafts 26, horizontal and parallel, from which the arms 30 protrude radially.
Each shaft 26 rotates in the direction indicated by the arrows F3 and F4 respectively, each shaft being furthermore driven by a respective motor 32.
Coming now to figure 2, in which elements corresponding to those of fig. 1 are indicated with the same references, so it can be observed that the formwork 14, once homogeneously filled in the vacuum chamber 12 is transferred to a new vacuum chamber 34 , in which the formwork rests on a surface 36 integral with a vibratory motion generator 38.
Also in this case the vacuum created in the chamber 34 is suitably controlled and regulated and is preferably obtained by connecting the chamber 34 to the same vacuum source operating for the chamber 12 and the mixer 10.
The slabs obtained starting from the blocks manufactured according to the process and regression of the present invention have excellent properties not only from the aesthetic point of view, but also from that of mechanical strength and low porosity.
The following examples illustrate, by way of non-limiting purpose, the realization of the cementitious products according to the present invention. As regards the additives added to the mixtures, these are the usual additives for cement mixtures for the functions indicated and the relative concentration ranges are shown below:
colorante : 0-4% sul peso del cemento; dye: 0-4% on the weight of the cement;
fluidificante (sostanza attiva) : 1, 5-2,0% sul peso del cemento; disaerante (sostanza attiva) : 0,4-0, 6% sul peso del cemento; fluidifying agent (active substance): 1.5-2.0% on the weight of the cement; deaerating agent (active substance): 0.4-0.6% on the weight of the cement;
ritardante (sostanza attiva) : 0.4-0, 6% sul peso del cemento. retardant (active substance): 0.4-0.6% of the weight of the cement.
Esempio 1 Example 1
Si è proceduto alla macinazione di marmo ottenendo un granulato “tout venant” avente la seguente composizione granulometrica: The marble was ground to obtain a "tout venant" granulate having the following granulometric composition:
0 - 0,6 mm 8,4 % in volume 0 - 0.6 mm 8.4% by volume
0,6 - 1,2 mm 10 % in volume 0.6 - 1.2 mm 10% by volume
1,2 - 2,5 mm 17,5 % in volume 1.2 - 2.5 mm 17.5% by volume
2,5 - 4,0 mm 22 % in volume 2.5 - 4.0 mm 22% by volume
4,0 - 6,0 mm 15,5 % in volume 4.0 - 6.0 mm 15.5% by volume
Water and white Portland cement were loaded into a mixer so that the cement was in an amount equal to 13.7% by volume referred to the total volume of the final mix and the total water was equal to 12.90% by volume.
After intimately mixing the water and cement together with the charge of marble granulate, also adding the additives mentioned above. We then proceed to the operations of forming blocks with dimensions of cm. 250 x 125 x 100.
The blocks were then sawn into slabs with a thickness of 7 mm. which have been subjected to examination, both to detect any macroscopic and microscopic porosities, and to determine the mechanical properties of interest for the applications for which the sheets themselves are intended.
Esempio 2 Example 2
Si ripete il procedimento dell’ esempio 1, utilizzando un granulato di marmo avente la seguente composizione granulometrica, calcolata applicando la formula di Bolomey: The procedure of example 1 is repeated, using a marble granulate having the following granulometric composition, calculated by applying the Bolomey formula:
0 - 0,045 mm (polvere di marmo) 2,0 % in volume 0 - 0.045 mm (marble dust) 2.0% by volume
0,1 - 0,3 mm 8,6 % in volume 0.1 - 0.3 mm 8.6% by volume
1,2 - 2,5 28,8 % in volume 1.2 - 2.5 28.8% by volume
2,5 - 4,5 mm 3 1,9 % in volume 2.5 - 4.5 mm 3 1.9% by volume
The mixture was prepared by mixing the granulate of the aforementioned composition with a mixture of water and cement comprising 14.3% by volume of white or gray Portland cement and 14.40% by volume of total water, in addition of course to the additives already cited.
Esempio 3 Example 3
Si è ripetuto il procedimento dell’esempio 1 utilizzando un granulato di marmo avente la seguente composizione granulometrica: The procedure of Example 1 was repeated using a marble granulate having the following particle size composition:
0 - 0,045 mm (polvere di marmo) 2,0 % in volume 0 - 0.045 mm (marble dust) 2.0% by volume
0,1 - 0,3 mm 6,3 % in volume 0.1 - 0.3 mm 6.3% by volume
1 ,2 - 2,5 mm 8,6 % in volume 1, 2 - 2.5 mm 8.6% by volume
4.0 - 6.0 mm 57.0% by volume The mix of cement and water consisted of 13.0% by volume of white or gray Portland cement and 13.10% by volume of water (total). In this case the chosen particle size clearly implies a particle size “jump”.
Esempio 4 Example 4
The procedure of example 1 was repeated with a granite granulate of the "tout venant" type obtained by grinding natural granite and having the following particle size composition:
0,2 - 0,6 mm 8,6 % in volume 0.2 - 0.6 mm 8.6% by volume
0,6 - 1,2 mm 12,5% in volume 0.6 - 1.2 mm 12.5% by volume
1,2 - 2,5 mm 22,3% in volume 1.2 - 2.5 mm 22.3% by volume
2,5 - 4,5 mm 25,9% in volume. 2.5 - 4.5 mm 25.9% by volume.
2.0% by volume of marble dust from 0 - 0.045 mm of granulometry was added to this granulate.
The cement mixture which was added with the granite granulate comprised 14.3% by volume of white or gray Portland cement and 14.4% by volume of total water.
Esempio 5 Example 5
L’esempio 1 è stato ripetuto con un granulato di granito presentante un salto granulometrico ed avente la seguente distribuzione granulometrica: Example 1 was repeated with a granite granulate presenting a particle size jump and having the following particle size distribution:
0.1 - 0,3 mm 6,0% in volume 0.1 - 0.3 mm 6.0% by volume
1,2 - 2,5 mm 7,0% in volume 1.2 - 2.5 mm 7.0% by volume
4,0 - 6,0 mm 56,30% in volume 4.0 - 6.0 mm 56.30% by volume
Also in this case the granulate was added with 2.0% by volume of marble powders with granulometry up to 0.045 mm.
In turn, the mixture of water and cement comprised 14.3% by volume of white or gray Portland cement and 14.40% by volume of total water. The physical and mechanical properties and characteristics were determined on slabs manufactured from blocks produced similarly to the previous examples, obtaining the data shown in table 1 below, data that refer to subjected to the rituals 28 days of curing, or to blocks obtained by carrying out curing in a first phase with the block enclosed in a waterproof plastic casing and, after having carried out the sawing, for another 23 days in a humid environment.
