La presente invenzione si riferisce ad una macchina lavastoviglie con cicli di pulizia secondo il preambolo della rivendicazione 1 e ad un metodo di igienizzazione di tale macchina. Un problema comune alle macchine lavastoviglie deriva dal fatto che soventemente gli utenti non caricano la macchina con una quantità di stoviglie sufficiente ad effettuare il lavaggio a pieno carico, con la conseguenza che attuare un programma di lavaggio in tali condizioni è spesso antieconomico, in quanto comporta uno spreco di energia, acqua ed agenti di lavaggio (brillantante e detersivi). Tuttavia, nel caso in cui si opti per lasciare stoviglie sporche nella vasca in attesa di completare il carico, ne scaturiscono altri inconvenienti, legati alla proliferazione dei batteri e alla formazione di cattivi odori. Method according to claim 1, wherein at least said sanitizing program is carried out prior to said washing cycle.

Method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said sanitizing program is carried out in a condition of humidity inside the tank approximately equal to a humidity rate of an environment outside the tank.

Method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said sanitizing program comprises the step of delivering gas containing Ozone into said tank.

Method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein an ozone diffusion medium or means in said tank is air.

Method according to one or more of the preceding claims, comprising at least two washing cycles interspersed with a sanitizing cycle.

Method according to one or more of the preceding claims, wherein said machine comprises a pump (6) for delivering said washing liquid and a pump (12) for air taken from the environment external to said machine and directed towards a generator (11) of ozone and from this towards the said tank, and in which during said sanitizing cycle said pump (6) for the delivery of said washing liquid is turned off and said pump (12) for air taken from the environment external is activated.
