DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
"Kit per trattamento endodontico di irrigazione e aspirazione dei canali radicolari dentali" "Kit for endodontic treatment of irrigation and aspiration of dental root canals"
The present invention relates to an endodontic treatment kit. In particular, the present invention finds application in the irrigation and aspiration of dental root canals with detergent and antiseptic solutions. In particular, the kit according to the present invention, in one of its operative configuration, gives rise to a device for the endodontic treatment of root canals.
Due to penetrating caries or trauma causing pulpitis and pulp necrosis, today's dentistry applies various techniques, instruments and special medications such as, for example, sodium hypochlorite. In particular, to carry out this therapy it is necessary that the organic material contained in the root canals, already septic or subject to septicization, is completely removed and the inside of the tooth cleared of the germs that have colonized it. Specifically, the removal of the organic material is based on the mechanical removal of the same by means of special tools and on the chemical action of irrigants and antiseptics placed in the pulp chamber and in the dental canals. Among the irrigants used, the most effective and most used disinfectant is sodium hypochlorite, which, in addition to killing germs, reacts with the organic material by dissolving it. However, during this action, ammonia and carbon dioxide develop at the same time, a gas that hinders the hypochlorite from reaching the apical end of the tooth, that is, the narrowest, most complex and difficult to empty and clean part of the entire root canal. As a result, there is little or no cleaning action in the apical region and in the canal branches denied to the action of the instruments (Fig. 4).
To overcome this problem, the classic irrigation technique was carried out by pushing the liquid towards the apex and involved the introduction of the liquid using a syringe and a needle. By exploiting the thrust of the piston of a syringe, the hypochlorite was conveyed into the root canal until it reached the apical end.
Since sodium hypochloric is a very reactive substance with vessels and tissues and there have been cases of considerable damage to patients due to the leakage of hypochloric from the dental apex, to avoid such damage but, at the same time, to obtain a cleaning deep of the pulp chamber to the apex, a negative pressure irrigation method was devised. This method consists in inserting a needle deeply into the root canal until it reaches its apical end, injecting the irrigant from above into the pulp chamber and at the same time aspirating the hypochlorite solution from below. A cleaning vortex is thus created which acts on the organic content of the canal, on the walls, on the cavities denied to the instruments and in the apical delta. Furthermore, the suction from the bottom of the described method generates the aforementioned negative pressure near the apical extremity and avoids the possible introduction of hypochlorite into the patient's bloodstream.
The negative pressure irrigation technique mainly uses an aspiration needle inserted deeply into the root canal and an irrigation duct that introduces the liquid from above into the pulp chamber and into the dental canal.
The devices currently proposed for the implementation of negative pressure irrigation are impractical as they require the presence of several operators for their execution and a complex system of circuits and maneuvers necessary to implement this practice.
The technical task underlying the present invention is to propose a kit for irrigation and aspiration of dental root canals which overcomes the drawbacks of current techniques and makes the execution procedure simpler and more automatic by using the aspiration of the equipment of the dental offices and external irrigant input devices such as peristaltic pumps or pressurized liquid tanks.
In particular, it is an object of the present invention to provide a single kit for an endodontic treatment that allows the entire methodology to be carried out in an effective and practical manner by a single operator.
A further aim is to propose a kit for endodontic treatment in two versions, manual and on a handpiece, suitable for any devitalization situation on the entire dental arch.
The specified technical task and the specified purposes are substantially achieved by an endodontic treatment kit, comprising the technical characteristics set forth in one or more of the appended claims.

The kit 1, in figure 3, comprises a head 2 mounted on a first end 29 of the handle 28. This head 2 has a first chamber 10 and a second chamber 11, as shown in detail in figure 1. The first chamber 10 is connectable to a suction duct 20 while the second chamber 11 can be connected to a delivery duct 21 for a treatment liquid.
The suction 20 and delivery 21 ducts can be tubes (Figure 2), generally flexible, coming from the unit. These tubes, in one embodiment, can cross the hollow interior of the handle 27 by connecting directly to the head 2. Alternatively, the handle 27 can comprise a plurality of conduits that connect to the head 2 at the first end 29 of the handle 28 while, on a second end 30 of the handle 28, these ducts are connected to the suction 20 and delivery 21 ducts coming from the unit.

More details are provided in the continuation of the description.
The suction needle 5 in Figure 1 has a plurality of small holes 22 made laterally 23 in proximity to the suction end 25 to favor the outflow of the irrigation liquid from the canal and from its apical depth. Likewise, the suction needle 5 shows its end 25 closed, so that the flow of liquid passes through the aforementioned lateral holes 22.
The holes 22 placed laterally and the closed suction end 25 allow to generate a negative pressure in the apical region of the root canal which prevents the treatment liquid from escaping from the apical foramina (s) (Figure 4) into the local blood system, thus avoiding the cited damages caused by sodium hypochlorite.
The suction needle 5, in a preferred embodiment, has a diameter which can vary from a minimum of 0.30 to over 0.40 mm.
Finally, the suction needle 5 is preferably made of plastic, nickel-titanium or flexible steel to follow any apical curves of the canal and in such diameters as to ensure that it reaches the apical end of the canal. Going into the constructive detail, the connecting means 8 comprise internal and external threads 9 such as to allow the screwing and unscrewing of the needle head and the delivery device 3 from the respective housings inside the head 2. The needle and the device are screwed into the head until the operating position is reached.
Kit 1 can comprise a plurality of diameters and lengths of the suction needles 5 and of the dispensing devices 3 according to the length of the root canals of the different types of teeth.
Likewise, the kit 1 can comprise a plurality of dispensing devices 3 defining different dispensing lengths 17 and having nozzles 15 of different diameters 7 in order to be able to modify at will the flow rate of the treatment liquid.
In an operative position, the operative distance between the nozzle 15 and the suction end 25 of the suction needle 5 is adjustable to adapt to the conformation of the different teeth.
However, the distance 17 between the head 2 and the outlet section of the nozzle 16 is smaller than the distance 18 between the head 2 and the suction end 25 of the suction needle 5.
The dispensing device 3 comprises a nozzle 15 for directing the outflow of the treatment liquid from the second chamber 11 of said head 2 and a connection member 13, comprising a threaded portion 14 engageable with the connection means 8, operatively arranged between the head 2 and the dispensing device 3 for the assembly and disassembly of the said dispensing device 3.
Finally, the kit 1 comprises a cap 40, which can be reversibly mounted on the head 2 and at least partially defining the first chamber 10 to allow easy access to the chamber for cleaning operations.
Infine viene proposto un metodo di utilizzo del kit 1 che comprende le seguenti fasi operative: Finally, a method of use of kit 1 is proposed which includes the following operational phases:
avvitare l'ago 5 nel suo alloggiamento all'interno della testina 2; screw the needle 5 into its housing inside the head 2;
montare un dispositivo di erogazione 3 sulla testina 2 successivamente al montaggio dell'ago di aspirazione 5; mounting a dispensing device 3 on the head 2 after mounting the suction needle 5;
montare il dispositivo di erogazione 3 nella testina 2 dopo l'avvitamento dell'ago di aspirazione 5; mounting the delivery device 3 in the head 2 after screwing the suction needle 5;
- first remove the dispensing device 3 from the head 2 and then the suction needle 5 in reverse order.
Also from the proposed method it is possible to deduce the functional and operational flexibility that the claimed kit 1 allows to obtain.
L'invenzione così descritta raggiunge gli scopi preposti e consegue gli impostanti vantaggi precedentemente indicati. The invention thus described achieves the intended purposes and achieves the important advantages indicated above.
