PROCESSO PER OSSEOINTEGRAZIONE DI PROTESI
CHIRURGICHE
L’invenzione riguarda un processo di deposizione sotto vuoto, di film sottili, su protesi chirurgiche metalliche e non, per favorire la loro osseointegrazione e proteggerle da alterazioni indotte dall’ambiente biologico in cui vengono inserite. Il trovato riguarda specialmente gli impianti dentali e protesi ortopediche in Titanio. Il trattamento superficiale ottenibile con il processo in questione presenta il vantaggio di ridurre, anche più del cinquanta per cento, il tempo necessario per la completa integrazione della protesi con l’osso in cui detta protesi è stata impiantata. Una tecnica precedente, esposta in una precedente domanda di brevetto, presenta difficoltà circa la sua applicazione industriale, infatti essa è basata su un tipo di processo di deposizione mediante ablazione laser pulsata, “PLAD”, per trattamenti di superfici molto piccole, ma non è in grado di assicurare la necessaria uniformità di spessore e di caratteristiche in campioni complessi quali le viti per impianti dentali: ciò risulta da attente sperimentazioni.
Questo ed altri inconvenienti sono stati superati con la presente invenzione che, per altro, permette il trattamento simultaneo di numerosi campioni (parti) migliorandone le caratteristiche di osseointegrazione e minimizzandone il rischio di rigetto. La tecnica di deposizione sottovuoto di strato sottile impiegata, appartiene alle deposizioni reattive in cui il materiale vaporizzato, nella fattispecie Titanio, reagisce, durante la deposizione, con un gas organico introdotto nella camera di processo. Come è noto, il miglioramento delle caratteristiche di osseointegrazione delle protesi dipendono, oltre che dalla natura del film deposto, anche dalla rugosità superficiale della protesi chirurgica. Con il processo proposto, oggetto dell’invenzione presentata, detta rugosità superficiale viene prodotta mediante un processo di sabbiatura con microsfere di biossido di zirconio, Zr02, di diametro ottimale, attorno a 120 micron, ottenendo così una soddisfacente osseointegrazione.
La composizione del film deposto è in grandi linee una miscela dei seguenti composti: carburi di Titanio, biossido di Titanio, Ti02, subossidi di Titanio, TiOx, ed inoltre Carbonio sia in forma legata con altri atomi di Carbonio, sia con atomi di Ossigeno. Relativamente alla composizione eiementale, ossia degli elementi principali che costituiscono il trattamento, Carbonio, Titanio, Ossigeno, le percentuali tipiche sono:
per il Carbonio tra 25% e 36 %, per il Titanio tra il 25% ed il 30% , per l’Ossigeno, dal 33% al 40%.
Relativamente ai legami chimici dei principali elementi che costituiscono il trattamento, percentuali tipiche dei composti del Titanio sono: TiC tra 35% e 38%, Ti02tra il 30% e 37%, TiOx tra 26 % e 34 %. I composti del Carbonio vedono una prevalenza del legame C-C attorno al 50%, con valori attorno al 35% dei legami col Titanio e la restante percentuale dei legami con Γ Ossigeno.
L’ invenzione viene di seguito descritta, a scopo orientativo e non limitativo, facendo riferimento all’unica figura che viene riportata per renderne più agevole la comprensione, in quanto l’invenzione è essenzialmente rappresentata dal processo che viene effettuato su substrati in un impianto di tipo “Ion Plating Plasma Assisted”, come di seguito precisato.

Il processo di deposizione, che è dunque l’aspetto più innovativo dell’invenzione, per cui si richiede copertura brevettuale, viene effettuato sotto vuoto, in un impianto del tipo Ion Plating Plasma Assisted, da sorgente Reactive Magnetron Sputtering.

La sorgente Magnetron Sputtering 2 è generalmente alimentata in tensione continua, mentre il porta-substrati 5 è generalmente polarizzato mediante un alimentatore a RF, 13,56 MHz. Il porta-substrati 5 può essere sia fisso che rotante di fronte alla sorgente 2, preferibilmente ad una distanza fra 5 e 15 centimetri. H materiale sulla sorgente Magnetron Sputtering è Titanio. L’atmosfera di processo è costituita, in alcune fasi, da Argon mentre nella fase reattiva è una miscela di Argon ed Etilene, Nel seguito viene descritto il processo ed i relativi parametri;
I substrati 5, generalmente di Titanio, vengono preventivamente puliti con l’uso di lavaggio con tensioattivo, qualora necessario, e quindi con un solvente tipo Esano. Vengono quindi montati sul porta-substrati 5, a diretto contatto con l’elemento polarizzato a RF 10 che genera il plasma, avendo cura di non inquinarne la superficie. Viene quindi chiusa la camera di processo 1 in cui viene quindi praticato il vuoto fino ad una pressione di circa 10<"5>Torr. Naturalmente il sistema di pompaggio deve essere tale da non introdurre significativo inquinamento all’interno della camera. Viene quindi introdotto un flusso di Argon fino a portare la pressione ad un valore tra 2 e 3 x 10<‘3>Torr. Viene quindi effettuato un processo di pulitura ionica dei substrati attivando la scarica a RF con una densità di potenza di circa 0.5 Watt/cm<2>, con una tensione attorno ai 500Volts per una durata tipicamente di cinque minuti. Viene quindi interrotta la scarica a RF e dopo aver schermato i substrati, rispetto alla sorgente Magnetron Sputtering, quest’ultima viene alimentata con una tensione DC di circa 400 Volts, con una densità di potenza di circa 10 Watt/cm<2>, attivando una scarica al plasma per la pulitura e la decontaminazione della superficie del Titanio, per una durata di circa cinque minuti. Viene quindi interrotta l’alimentazione DC e rimosso lo schermo di fronte ai substrati. Viene successivamente deposto uno strato di aderenza di Titanio in modalità “Ion Plating” con una polarizzazione a RF dei substrati di circa 500 Volts ed una densità di potenza di circa 0,25 Watt/cm<2>, mentre la sorgente “Magnetron Sputtering” è alimentata in DC con una potenza attorno ai 5Watt/cm<2>, per una durata di circa due minuti. Durante questa fase di deposizione dello strato di aderenza viene accuratamente misurata, mediante per es. misuratore di deposizione a quarzo oscillante, la velocità di deposizione del Titanio. Mantenendo attive entrambe le alimentazioni DC ed RF, viene introdotto un flusso di Etilene che induce, a parità di potenze, una riduzione della velocità di deposizione che deve essere portata ad un valore attorno al 90% della velocità di deposizione in atmosfera di Argon puro. Questo flusso di Etilene equivale ad una pressione parziale attorno a 6 x 10<'5>Torr. La deposizione viene quindi effettuata mantenendo costanti questi parametri fino ad uno spessore attorno a 1,5 micron. Si interrompono quindi sia le alimentazioni DC ed RF sia il flusso dei gas di processo, ed effettuato il rientro d’aria nell’impianto, i substrati vengono scaricati dal portasubstrati e sono così ultimati.
Claims (8)
- RIVENDICAZIONI 1. Processo, per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, da effettuare in un impianto del tipo “Ion Plating Plasma Assisted”, da sorgente “Reactive Magnetron Sputtering”, essendo costituito, detto impianto, generalmente da Camera da vuoto (1), sorgente Sputtering (2) per es. Magnetron, connessione (3) al gruppo di pompaggio, plasma, per es. DC (7), ingresso (4) dei gas di processo, porta-substrati polarizzabile (5), generatore polarizzabile, per es. DC (6), generatore per es. RF (8), rete di adattamento (9), plasma, per es. RF (10), essendo caratterizzato, detto processo, dal fatto che di essere realizzato dalle seguenti fasi: - i substrati (11), generalmente di Titanio, vengono preventivamente puliti con Fuso di lavaggio con tensioattivo, qualora necessario, e quindi con un solvente tipo Esano; - si montano i substrati (11) sul porta-substrati (5), a diretto contatto con l’elemento polarizzato a RF (10), avendo cura di non inquinarne la superfìcie; - si chiude la camera di processo (1) in cui viene quindi praticato il vuoto fino ad una pressione inferiore a 10<'s>Torr; - si introduce un flusso di Argon fino a portare la pressione ad un valore tra 2 e 3 x IO<'3>Torr; - si effettua una pulitura ionica dei substrati (11) attivando la scarica a RF con una densità di potenza di circa 0.5 Watt/cm<z>, con una tensione attorno ai 500 Volts per una durata tipicamente di cinque minuti; - si interrompe la scarica a RF e dopo aver schermato i substrati (11), rispetto alla sorgente Magnetron Sputtering (2), quest’ultima viene alimentata con una tensione DC di circa 400 Volts, con una densità di potenza di circa 10 Watt/cm<2>, attivando una scarica al plasma per la pulitura e la decontaminazione della superficie del Titanio, per una durata di circa cinque minuti; - si interrompe l’alimentazione DC e si rimuove lo schermo di fronte ai substrati (11); - viene successivamente deposto uno strato di aderenza di Titanio in modalità “Ion Plating” con una polarizzazione a RF dei substrati (11) di circa 500 Volts ed una densità di potenza di 0,25 Watt/cm<2>, mentre la sorgente “Magnetron Sputtering” è alimentata in DC con una potenza attorno ai 5Watt/cm<2>, per una durata di circa due minuti; durante questa fase di deposizione dello strato di aderenza viene accuratamente misurata, mediante per es. un misuratore di deposizione a quarzo oscillante, la velocità di deposizione del Titanio; - mantenendo attive entrambe le alimentazioni DC ed RF, viene introdotto, nell’impianto, un flusso di Etilene che induce, a parità di potenze, una riduzione della velocità di deposizione che deve essere portata ad un valore attorno al 90% della velocità di deposizione in atmosfera di Argon puro; questo flusso di Etilene equivale ad una pressione parziale attorno a 6 x IO<'5>Torr; - viene quindi effettuata la deposizione mantenendo costanti questi parametri fino ad uno spessore attorno a 1,5 micron; - si interrompono quindi sia le alimentazioni DC ed RF sia il flusso dei gas di processo e, effettuato il rientro d’aria nell’impianto, i substrati vengono scaricati dal porta-substrati e sono così ultimati.
- 2. Processo, per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, da effettuare in un impianto del tipo Ion Plating Plasma Assisted, da sorgente Reactive Magnetron Sputtering, secondo la Riv. 1, caratterizzato dal fatto che la composizione del film deposto è una miscela di carburi di Titanio, biossido di Titanio, TÌO2, subossidi di Titanio, TiOx, ed inoltre Carbonio, sia in forma legata con altri atomi di Carbonio, sia con atomi di Ossigeno.
- 3. Processo, per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, secondo la Riv. 1, caratterizzata dal fatto che nei legami chimici dei principali elementi che costituiscono il trattamento, percentuali tipiche dei composti del Titanio sono: TiC tra 35% e 38%, TÌO2tra 30% e 37%, TiOxtra 26 % e 34 % ed i composti del Carbonio vedono una prevalenza del legame C-C attorno al 50%, con valori attorno al 35% dei legami col Titanio e la restante percentuale dei legami con l’Ossigeno.
- 4. Processo, per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, secondo la Riv. 1, è caratterizzato dal fatto che la sorgente Magnetron Sputtering (2) è alimentata in tensione continua, mentre il porta-substrati (5) è polarizzato mediante un alimentatore a RF tipicamente a 13,56 MHz.
- 5.. Processo, per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, secondo la Riv. 1, caratterizzato dal fatto che il porta substrati (5) può essere sia fisso che rotante di fronte alla sorgente (2), preferibilmente ad una distanza fra cinque e quindici centimetri.
- 6. Processo per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, secondo le precedenti Riw., caratterizzato dal fatto che il materiale sulla Sorgente Magnetron Sputtering (2) è tipicamente Titanio; l’atmosfera di processo è costituita, in alcune fasi, da Argon mentre nella fase reattiva è una miscela di Argon ed Etilene e le protesi da trattare, tipicamente in Titanio, vengono rese rugose mediante un processo di sabbiatura con microsfere tipicamente di biossido di Zirconio, 7^0%, con un diametro ottimale attorno a 120 micron.
- 7. Processo per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, secondo la Riv. 4, caratterizzato dal fatto che sia la sorgente magnetron sputtering che il portasubstrati polarizzabile sono alimentati con una tensione DC ovvero con qualsiasi tipo di frequenza alternata o pulsata.
- 8. Processo per trattamenti per osseointegrazione di protesi chirurgiche, secondo la Riv. 1, caratterizzata dal fatto che la sorgente di sputtering può essere diversa da un magnetron.
