Footwear comprising a sole (3), an upper (2) joined to said sole and a reinforcement element (10) arranged for lateral retention of a foot housed in said shoe, said reinforcement element being joined to said sole and to an internal surface (2a) of said upper (2) facing said foot, said shoe being characterized in that the following are defined on said reinforcing element (10): - a central portion (15) positioned on an upper area (9a) of said upper corresponding to a region of the back of said foot, - a first pair of branches (16) laterally opposite and extending from said central portion (15) towards a toe area (7) of said shoe, and - a second pair of branches (17) laterally opposite and extending from said central portion (15) in the opposite direction to said first pair of branches (16) away from said toe region (7) of said shoe.

2. Footwear according to claim 1, wherein said reinforcing element (10) is interposed between said upper (2) and a lining applied to said upper and intended for contact with said foot.

3. Footwear according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said central portion (15) is arranged on said upper in a position substantially equidistant from opposite sides (8a, 8b) of said shoe.

4. Footwear according to any one of the preceding claims, in which an opening (9) is made on said upper (2) to allow the entry and exit of said foot from said shoe and said central portion (15) of said reinforcement insert is arranged between said opening (9) and a front end (1b) of said shoe.

5. Footwear according to claim 4, in which said opening (9) is partially delimited by a pair of flaps (102) which can be approached mutually by a lacing (101).

6. Footwear according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the branches (17) of said second pair are extended in substantial alignment with the branches (16) of said first pair.

7. Footwear according to any one of the preceding claims, in which the ends of the branches (16) of said first pair opposed to said central portion (15), are joined together at said sole (3).

8. Footwear according to claim 7, wherein said first pair of branches (16) extends along said upper (2) in correspondence of a metatarsal region of said foot, preferably in correspondence of the metatarsal joint with the toes of said foot.

Shoe according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said second pair of branches (17) extends towards an arch area (6) of said shoe.

10. Footwear according to claim 9, wherein the ends of the branches (17) of said second pair opposed to said central portion (15), are joined together at said sole (3).

11. Footwear according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein said second pair of branches (17) extends towards a heel region (5) of said shoe.

12. Footwear according to claim 11, wherein said second pair of branches (17) remains coupled to said upper along its entire development and the ends of the branches (17) of said second pair opposed to said central portion (15) , are joined together at a rear end (1a) of said shoe.
