Profiling machines are known that perform the work of shaping, according to the most diverse forms, but in general, toroidal, profiled slabs of marble, granite, natural stones and other similar materials.

These are generally very complex machines that are equipped with mobile spindles equipped with abrasive heads.

These spindles are approached to the profile to be machined and with subsequent, suitably calculated, remove the material reducing the profile; the curved one you want.

The problem of the existing machines is that which concerns the way the spindles are moved and the adjustment of their stroke; both the processing speed and the complexity of the machine and therefore the relative cost are linked to these parameters.

The purpose of the present patent for industrial invention is to propose a completely innovative machine as regards the motion transmission system to the spindles.

The machine designed is shown on the attached tables in a representation given for indicative and non-binding purposes.

The table I in fig. 1 schematically illustrates the innovative parts of the machine.

With reference to the attached tables, the machine has a crosspiece (1) on which the spindles (2) are mounted, which are identical to those existing on already known machines, i.e. provided with an abrasive terminal plate (3) with circular movement.

The crossbar (1) is free to rotate describing the semicircular crown (4) moved by the chain (5) which meshes with the toothed wheel (6) and passing over the pulleys (7), runs through the internal arc (8) of the semicircle ( 4) closing in on itself.

The crossbar (1) is connected to the chain (5) by means of a bracket connection (9), as shown in detail on the table. III, which has a shape suitable for allowing it to be hooked to the pins of the chain for a certain length.

The adjustment to vary the shape of the profile to be obtained is very wide and extremely simple, it is sufficient to arrange micro - switches which stop, at the right moment, the excursion of the arm (11); a further adjustment can be obtained by moving the eccentric (10) more or less close to the center of the wheel (6).

Another advantage of the proposed machine is the higher machining speed, compared to traditional machines, since the kinematic movement of the spindle-holder crosspiece allows the latter a high number of cycles and therefore the passage of the spindles on the piece in the time.

The machine described and illustrated is the one that at the moment appears to be the most suitable for the intended purpose, however it is conceivable, to obtain the movement of the crosspiece, to carry out the ascent and descent of the arm, (11) through an eccentric or using a gearmotor with self-braking motor and a nut screw that acts through a special nut on the wheel (6).

In a further variant the wheel (6) can be eliminated and the chain meshed at the top with an alternating motion motor equipped with a reduction gear.

The hypothesized machine has a bench and therefore a horizontal work surface, but it can also be made with a vertical or in any case inclined work surface.
