Description
PROCEDIMENTO DI FABBRICAZIONE DI UN MODELLO DI CONTROLLO DI DATI DI ESTERNI” PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING AN EXTERNAL DATA CONTROL MODEL "
DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing an exterior data control model, particularly conceived for its application in the automotive industry, for obtaining vehicle exterior data control models.
A control model of the type indicated consists in the faithful reproduction of the external surfaces of a car. Starting from this model, the data for the manufacture of the different parts or components that define the external surface of the car will be obtained. For this reason, the control models of the indicated type must exhibit great dimensional stability all the time and a perfect surface finish.
The data control models that are currently built by car manufacturers have some common characteristics: they are formed by a basic structure on which the blocks to be machined of each piece are arranged, which configure the external surfaces of the car.
The basic structure is made up of structural profiles in welded steel or cast aluminum.
For their part, the blocks to be machined are, in most cases, massive and consist of workable polyurethane resin blocks. In some cases they usually consist of a honeycomb panel core and a body based on workable glued blocks of polyester resin. In the most used manufacturing process, the information of the surface models to be represented, under magnetic "Cad tape" format, is started, creating the surface processing program and processing the computer model to obtain the sections necessary to build the physical mold. In the workshop, the blocks to be machined are prepared with the help of the sections of the model, as these blocks generally consist of polyurethane resin. The blocks to be machined are provided with anchors for their assembly on the base structure. Then the blocks to be worked are passed and, if necessary, a manual finishing is carried out, to eliminate small imperfections, finally carrying out a control of the dimensions.
A model obtained with the aforementioned characteristics has a series of drawbacks, among which we can mention: a) its high weight, which involves the use of the bridge crane for the continuous transfer of the blocks to be machined or of the physical models and the risk of accidents, a front bumper being able to weigh about 240 kg; b) heterogeneous surfaces, this drawback due to the gluing of workable blocks; c) the stability of the dimensions is not adequate, due to the fact that the thermal variations, which occur over a period of time, negatively and very directly affect the surface finish and dimensions; d) excessively high costs.
Attempts have been made to solve the problems mentioned in different ways. For example, an attempt was made to solve the problem of homogenizing the surface by means of a complex system of recovery and casting of polyurethane resin, but the models obtained with this system are still very heavy.
The use of a mixed system is also known, using a honeycomb panel core and surfaces with gluing of workable blocks. This procedure has solved the weight problem, however it continues to have poor surface finishes.
The object of the present invention is to develop a process for manufacturing external data control models which allows to obtain models with low weight, excellent surface finishes and costs much lower than those of traditional systems.
In the process of the invention, as well as in traditional systems, we start from the information of the surface models to be represented, the surface machining program is created and the computer model is processed to obtain the sections necessary for the construction of the physical model.
According to the process of the invention, starting from the sections of the model, a negative mold based on a material with a light cellular structure is built. In the same way, a rigid core is built based on a material with an open and resistant cellular structure, equipping this core with anchors to be fixed to the base structure, which can be constituted with a traditional shape.
Then a release agent is applied to the internal surface of the mold and the core is positioned and fixed on said mold, with a certain separation between the surfaces of both components, then proceeding to pour a polyurethane resin into the space defined by said molds. surfaces. This resin partially penetrates into the structure of the core, thus obtaining its fixing to it. Once the resin has dried, it is separated from the mold, the surface of which will remain covered by a layer of resin which is subjected to processing to reproduce the shapes of the model. If necessary, a surface finishing operation will be carried out, finally checking the dimensions piece by piece, starting from the references previously included in the basic structure.
The negative mold will preferably be formed based on polyurethane foam.
For its part, the core can be constituted starting from a honeycomb panel provided with aluminum walls, from which pieces are obtained that correspond to the sections of the mold and which rest and join together by means of adhesive to form a compact packaging. , rigid and light.
According to a variant embodiment, for the formation of the core, a honeycomb panel block is constructed, with an aluminum laminar base, this block being sized starting from the computer treatment of the core. The block is processed, starting from the surface opposite to that occupied by the aforementioned laminar base, on the basis of a previously devised processing program.
The core can be built with a honeycomb panel provided with aluminum walls, from which pieces are obtained that correspond to preliminary and some intermediate sections that define the shapes of the piece and over which a cover is arranged and fixed. resistant laminar, forming a compact, rigid and light core. A resin cover is formed on this core which, once dried, is processed to reproduce the shapes of the mold. The laminar cover can be made of wire fabric or even a fiberglass laminate.
The resin cover will preferably be formed by casting (casting) the resin in successive layers, applying each layer once the previous one has hardened. Virtually the resin hardens instantly. With this system, a very rigid and light mold is obtained.
In any case, the processing operations will be carried out once the resin has hardened, which can be completed in a period of time of about 24 hours, approximately at room temperature, or even in a time of two hours at a temperature of approximately 40 °. C.
The built negative mold will have an oversize of about 30 mm, which will correspond to the excess to be machined.
The honeycomb panel used for the formation of the core can be approximately 50 mm thick, with aluminum walls. The formed core will have a negative difference in its sizing of approximately 30 mm, which will be the distance from the core to the surface of the part.
In order to make it easier to understand the characteristics and advantages of the process of the invention, a detailed description of the same is made below, with the help of the attached drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic representation of the various stages of the process of the invention.
Figures 2, 3 and 4 also schematically represent the possible variations in certain stages or phases of the process of the invention. According to the representation of figure 1, the procedure starts from the information of the surface models to be represented on the magnetic format "Cad tape", phase 1 to realize the surface processing program, phase 2. In phase 3 the treatment of the model is represented computer to obtain the sections necessary to build the physical model.
Queste tre fasi corrispondono a quelle normalmente utilizzate nei procedimenti tradizionali. These three steps correspond to those normally used in traditional processes.
According to the process of the present invention, as shown in step 4, a negative mold is made, in polyurethane foam, on the surface of which a release agent is applied. This mold will be built with pieces 4a that correspond to the sections of the model and will have an increase in size of approximately 30 mm in its internal surface, which will be the surplus to be processed later.
The phase illustrated with the reference number 5 represents a core for whose conformation the model is treated by computer, in order to obtain the information necessary to build a base with a honeycomb panel equipped with aluminum walls, starting from which pieces 5a are formed which correspond to the sections of the model and which huddle and join together in a packing which will form a compact, rigid and light core. This core will have a surface reduction of approximately 30mm, which will be the distance from the core to the surface of the part. The step illustrated with the reference number 6 represents the location of anchors 6a on the core of the step 5 for its further assembly on the base structure.
As shown in step 7, the core 5 is placed on the negative mold 4, leaving a separation between the surface of approximately 60 mm, fixing the core and the mold and then casting resin into the space 7a delimited between the two components. This resin is partially introduced into the open structure in the honeycomb panel of the core 5, thus obtaining a good fixing on the surface of the same. After approximately 10 hours have elapsed, and once the resin has dried, the core and the mold 4 are separated, reproducing the shapes of the mold on the surface 8a of the resin, as indicated in step 8. In case if necessary, a manual finishing will then be carried out, with which the edges or ridges left by the machining of phase 8 will be eliminated, as well as the radii less than 3 mm. Finally, according to what is represented in step 10, a check of the dimensions is carried out, piece by piece, due to the fact that they have been indicated previously and in global form on the basic structure.
A bumper made with the described procedure can weigh up to 70 kg, compared to the 250 kg that the same bumper, obtained with traditional procedures, can weigh.
According to a variant of execution represented in figure 2, the computer model is treated in a phase 10 and a mechanization program is carried out in a phase 11. By means of the computer treatment of phase 10 it is built in the workshop, as it is represented for the phase 12, a honeycomb panel core 12a and aluminum laminar base, the size of which was obtained starting from the computer treatment of the model. In step 13 the fixing of the anchors 6a is represented, as mentioned with reference to step 6, figure 1. Finally, in step 14 the honeycomb panel core is machined in the program obtained in step 11, using a particular machine processing. A core is thus obtained, equal to that of phase 5 of Figure 1, being able to continue the process as described above.
The core obtained in the fifth step of the process represented in Figure 1 or in step 14 of the variant of execution represented in Figure 3, can be subjected to a step of projection of polyurethane resin, Figure 3, in which a covering 15 with thickness is obtained total of approximately 40 mm, which is obtained by projecting successive layers, applying each layer once the previous one has hardened. Once hardened, the covering 15 is subjected to a machining operation, similar to that shown in step 8 of Figure 1, ending the process in the same way.
Figure 4 shows another variant of execution in which the core obtained in step 5 of the procedure represented in figure 1 is built with a honeycomb panel and aluminum walls, starting from some preliminary and some central sections, forming a group, which is indicated by the reference number 16, based on characteristic external and internal sections that define the shapes of the piece to be reproduced. The sections of this group are joined with a resistant laminar cover 17, based on a metal wire fabric or a glass fiber laminate, all this being obtained in a step indicated by reference number 18 in Figure 4. In in a subsequent phase, indicated by the reference number 19, the anchors 6a are placed, as explained with reference to figure 1. In a subsequent phase 20, polyurethane resin is projected onto the core 16. The projected thickness will be approximately 50 mm, obtained in successive layers. The resin is then subjected to a drying operation ("curado") and in a following step 21 the shapes of the model are reproduced, similarly to step 8 of figure 1, ending as explained with reference to said figure 1.
