Abstract
The device (101) has a detection unit (103) for detecting a vehicle environment. A velocity regulating device (105) controls predetermined vehicle velocity provided by a driver. A navigation system provides navigation data to a control device (107). The detection unit comprises a sensor i.e. radar detector, for detecting a preceding vehicle. The control device deactivates the velocity regulating device based on the detected vehicle environment, the navigation data and the detected preceding vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a vehicle.
