Display unit (1) comprises a liquid crystal display (2), an image data source and a temperature measuring unit for determining a display temperature. The image data output (8) transfers new image data to the liquid crystal display in longer time intervals when the temperature of the liquid crystal display does not reach a prescribed limit.
