Abstract
A composition (A) for the low temperature triggering of the activation of getter materials comprises (i) an evaporable getter material (EGM) or a non-vapourable getter alloy (NGA) and (ii) an oxide. The oxide is one of silver (Ag2O), copper (CuO), manganese (MnO2), cobalt (Co3O4) or mixtures of these. Also claimed are (i) a getter device comprising (A), the oxide being in the form of a powder with a particle size less than 150mu ; (ii) the above getter device where a portion of the device does not contain (A); (iii) a composition (B) as defined above but also containing (iii) an alloy (the alloy comprising (a) a metal selected from rare earths, yttrium, lanthanum or mixtures of these and (b) copper, tin or mixtures of these); and (iv) a getter device comprising (B).
