Abstract

Un giroscopio laser ad anello avente un laser ad anello che ha preferibilmente quattro lati e quattro specchi di spigolo. Almeno uno degli specchi di spigolo è parzialmente trasmittente, e il fascio trasmesso viene rivelato e convertito in un segnale digitale. Il segnale digitale viene retroazionato in due anelli di elaboratore su almeno un convertitore digitale-analogico, e quindi su un trasduttore che aziona almeno uno specchio di spigolo verso l'interno e verso l'esterno. Uno degli anelli dell'elaboratore include un demodulatore a gradini avente quattro gradini per ciclo. I gradini hanno tensioni nella tensione di lavoro del trasduttore, quella tensione più un incremento, la tensione di lavoro, e quella tensione meno un decremento. Il primo anello invia una tensione di lavoro ai convertitori digitale-analogico. Il secondo anello demodula il segnale del fascio in una seconda armonica della demodulazione del primo anello onde produrre un segnale di tensione che controlla l'ampiezza di "dithering" degli specchi mobili. Un modulatore a gradini, in sincronismo con il demodulatore del primo anello, fornisce un segnale di modulazione ai convertitori digitali-analogici onde spostare a gradini gli specchi mobili. La tensione di lavoro sposta gli specchi in una posizione in cui la cavità laser opera nei picchi del suo modo di intensità.
