Il dispositivo può contenere, in un apposito vano isolato, degli elementi chimici atti a determinare una reazione esotermica o un riscaldatore alimentabile dall'esterno.Il dispositivo è completato da: una capsula in cui è conservata l'acqua o il liquido per preparare la bevanda; un contenitore atto a ricevere la bevanda preparata; un comparto contenente la polvere che serve per la preparazione. Quest'ultimo comparto è in comunicazione sia con il contenitore dell'acqua che con quello che funge da coppa.
