Si descrive un procedimento per la preparazione di (-)-eseretolo, di formula (I) (FORMULA I) a partire dal (?)-eseretolo, o da miscele di (+)- e (-)-eseretolo con prevalenza di quest'ultimo enantiomero, mediante trattamento di (±)-eseretolo o di miscele di (+)- e (-)-eseretolo arricchite in quest'ultimo enantiomero, con 0,5-0,7 moli (per mole di miscela dei due enantiomeri) di un agente risolvente che fornì un sale di (-)- eseretolo meno solubile del corrispondente sale di (+)-eseretolo.
