Abstract

Process using a flatbed knitter, where there are two paired needle beds behind each other and slides passing over them. Pile loops are developed from the pile yarn on one needle bed without modifying the knitter or using an auxiliary yarn guide. On the other needle bed, meanwhile, the pile yarn develops continuous loops or alternating loops and stitches. The following slide, with its yarns, binds the pile loops. The next slide is provided with a pile yarn, with special press-off and press segments to press off the pile loops after they have been secured by the adjustable press segment to ensure a safe press-off without capillary fracture. The cycle is repeated by further slides. The process develops a pile-loop fabric with min. work and without modifying the knitting equipment.
