Abstract
Wash cycle additive antistatic compsn. for making laundry antistatic after washing and automatic machine drying comprises an amt., effective when the compsn. is used at 0.1-2 g/l. of an antistatic polyamide (I) of tri(1-10C alkyl) acetic acid where the polyamine moiety contains 2-5 NH2 gps., with a particulate detergent builder or filler or aq. medium contg. a nonionic surfactant as carrier for (I). (I) pref. comprises a trialkylacetic acid moiety with 3-12C total in the 3 alkyl gps., with a diamine or triamine moiety with 2-10C alkylene gp(s). and/or poly(2-4C) oxyalkylene (1-10C) alkylene gps. connecting the NH2 gps. and contg. 1-40 oxyalkylene gps. Esp. (I) is (i) a diamide of neodecanoic acid with a 2-6C alkylene diamine; or (ii) of formula (Ia) or (Ib), where A is 1-20C alkyl or H, esp. 1-4C alkyl; T is H or esp. Me; R is 4-13C neoalkyl, pref. 4-9C esp. ca. 9C neoalkyl; n is 1-40 pref. 2-10 esp. ca 5-6; x, y, z are 1-8, pref. 1-3; (x+y+z) is 4-10 pref. 4-8, esp. ave. 5.3. Specifically (I) is N,N'-ethylene-bis-neodecanamide (Ic). Prefd. amt. of (I) is 5-30 wt.%.
