Abstract
The mechanism has ratchet devices or springs of different strengths to distinguish between the different gears or the difference paths moved by the gear lever. The spring ratchet device (3) is assigned to different gears or paths in accordance with at least one drive parameter of the vehicle. In order to set the optimum gear from neutral, only the shiftingeift force needed to overcome the force threshold in the gearing (4) need bey applied. From the optimum gear, after overcoming a force threshold in the selection direction and the force threshold in the shifting direction, only adjacent gears can be shifted.
