Abstract
Brine having a tendency to form deposits of amorphous silica or calcite is mixed with acidified steam condensate to form a mixture having reduced tendency to form deposits. The mixt. of brine and condensate is flashed to form high quality steam and residual brine streams at reduced pressure. Energy may be extracted from the steam fraction and the resulting condensate used in the first stage of treatment following acidification and pre-heating. The process may be extended to geothermal brines and vapours containing hydrogen sulphide. Brine may issue from the well as part of a brine steam two phase mixture. These may be separated at the well-head and subjected to processing. Used for generation of power using geothermal steam in steam turbines. Silica damage to turbine blades is prevented and brine treatment prevents the deposition of amorphous silica in the lines leading to and from the flash vessel.
