Abstract
Synthesis of urea comprises (a) reacting CO2 with excess NH3 at 170-220 deg.C under 100-300 kg/sq.cmG to produce urea soln. contg. unreacted CO2 and NH3; (b) sepg. inert gas from the urea soln. under pressure nearly same as the urea synthesis pressure together with a small quantity of unreacted CO2 and NH3; (c) stripping the urea soln. at 150-230 deg.C under 90-310 kg/sq.cmG by using CO2 or NH3 to separate a part of unreacted CO2 and NH3 contained in the soln.; (d) distilling the urea soln. under 10-25 kg/sq.cmG to separate most of unreacted CO2 and NH3 contained in the soln.; (e) distilling the urea soln. under low pressure to separate all of unreacted CO2 and NH3; (f) obtaining urea from thus obtd. urea aq. soln.; (g) contacting the sepd. inert gas and CO2 and NH3 from the high pressure distn. process with absorbing medium to produce high pressure absorption soln.; (h) cooling NH3 and the inert gas not absorbed to separate liq. ammonia from the inert gas; (i) contacting the absorption soln. with CO2 and NH3 from the stripping process to produce ammonia carbamate soln.;
