Abstract

Water-dispersible or -dispersed polymers for cathodic electrodeposition are made contg. 0.01-0.8 gram-mol/1000 g tert. amine oxide gps. The polymer is pref. an epoxide or acrylic polymer contg. 0.1-4 gram-mol amino nitrogen gps/1000 g. polymer. Pref. part of the amino N gps. are protonated and part are non-protonated. Prods. are water dispersible coating compsns. which deposit at the cathode to give uniform coatings with excellent resistance to corrosion and alkalis coupled with reduced discolouration during electrolysis.
