Abstract
The fermented prod. e.g. compost is mfd from dung, sawdust and vegetable matter, in an elongated horizontal chamber, with two horizontal spindles, parallel positioned, and with radial protruding fingers, to cover the entire chamber for the purpose of churning the chamber contents. Chamber is partly loaded, leaving an appreciable air-space above the product surface. The counter rotating spindles run at such a speed as to turn the mixture once every 3 mm fresh air is admitted to the mixture at a speed between 0.5 and 2.5 dm3 per min-per 100 dm3 of compost, enabling the mixture temp to rise to 99 degrees C in 18 hrs. without addition of ambient air mixture is then cooled to room temp.
