An object is formed from a two-dimensional design by subjecting areas of the surface of photo-polymerisable material to light and removing unpolymerised material, forming a master pattern and using this to reproduce the object. The master pattern may be in the form of a wax model and the object may be cast in metal using the lost wax method. The photopolymer may be in sheet form with a rigid backing, the image being applied with a light beam with mechanical guide system. A rubber mould is pref. formed from the image and a wax model from the mould. Alternatively, the photopolymer may be a liq. in a container.
