Abstract

Dioxolone derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new: (where Ar is an opt. substd. mono- or polynuclear aryl gp. A is 1-3C alkylene, Z is O or S, and Nr1R2 is the residue of a sec. amine, e.g. a N,N-dialkylamine, N-cycloalkyl-N-alkylamine, N-alkyl-N-phenylalkylamine, opt. substd. N,N-alkylenimine or an opt. substd. oxa-, thia- or azaalkylenimine). (I) have hypolipaemic, anti-ulcer, antihistamine and antiserotonin activity, e.g. giving 30% redn. in plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels at a dose of 6-100 mg/kg (p.o. rat).
