Abstract

The anchor bolt comprises a bolt portion (4) with a conical end (3) and an intermediate smaller diameter portion which carries a two part expansible sleeve (2). The sleeve is formed with projections (5). The portion (3) and sleeve are entered into a hole in concrete or masonry and, on tightening, the portion (3) expands the sleeve to anchor the bolt in the hole. The sleeve is of material having a hardness in excess of 230 Brinell and in its manufacture the projections are annealed to have a hardness of between 100 and 230 Brinell. In consequence they flatten when the bolt is tightened and spread the load.
