Abstract

The bearing assembly is used in agricultural machinery where the seals must be protected from dirt and stones. It has balls (12) revolving in an inner race (13) and outer race (14) between inner and outer bearing rings (10,11), and held in a cage Two flinger rings (16) fixed to the inner ring and mounted either side of the balls have a rubber sealing ring (17) bonded on the inside face which extends inwardly and outwards, coming into contact with a recess (25) formed in the outer ring. This excess provides a seal around the balls. During re-lubrication, excess grease escapes through the lip of the seal ring and a passageway (28) between the outer ring and the seal, the seal ring being deflected.
