Abstract

Paper prod. contains (a) a first fibrous component consisting of 5-70 wt.% of HCHO synthetic resin fibres, insol. in cold water, with average strength of is not 33 Nm/g., an average fibre length of is not 1 mm., and dia. of 1-30 um, and (b) a second fibrous component consisting of 95-30 wt.% of a cellulose fibre compsn. contg. mechanical wood pulp with a freeness is not >120 ml. CSF (Canadian Standard Freeness) and/or a tensile strength is not 24 Nm/gb. w.r.t. a standard test sheet and/or a whole pulp with a freeness is not >400 ml. CSF and/or a tensile strength, w.r.t. a standard test sheet, of not half of the tensile strength at a nil distance between the clamps. Inclusion of the HCHO resin fibres improves reciprocal density, tear strength, dewatering time, printing properties, and processing of the paper. The paper is esp. suitable for printing or for packaging.
